Why do VAG use torx screws, surely they realise that this is standard only in the US??

You'll find a fair amount of torx screws in that bimmer of yours ;)

But some day :P Later that day you headed up to moy

    Greetings from Moy!

    Not really.
I was going to offer you a lift, but seeing as my magical astra isn't good enough I might just take that offer back :P
But you could spend the trip talking about how great your car is, and at the end of the day, isn't that what we all love to do.

I could, " It has all the latest features, wheels, seats, windows, engine I was lucky and managed to get one with a fuel tank! :P

Well the offers there if you want it

In other news, I can't get this damn plug out of the ecu (I think). Need to plug my footwell lights into b7, but can't get the plug out.

I tried so hard 2 nights ago I had many lights on my dash by the end of it.

You heading up for any reason or just a thinly veiled serial killer?

Can we have a sweep on how many "abandon the nuts motor/car tax " threads over the next month? I'm betting on 3 more.

Sad thing is that anyone who buys a car with 1 mile on the clock isn't gonna drive it.

    That's the worst part!
Most of these will end up in a collection and do nothing other then sit there and be polished.

It would be very cool too get one and drive around in a "brand new" 50 yr old classic like one of those.
Obviously there would still be a lot of work too be done too them depending how they were put away.

Im thinking I might tip up in my own car. There's talk that the back seats of later models of my car dont fit into the older ones, so I wanna make sure that fits before I do anything. I might tip up Saturday morning, if you were interested in the spin, no worries if not.

  • Moderators Posts: 12,425 ✭✭✭✭Black_Knight

    Spline bit

edit: sorry in a rush. It's a spline bolt. They're 12 sided. Torx are 6. You'll need a spline bit to remove it. They come in metric m6, m8, m10 etc. sizes. That looks like an m10 or so.

Cheers. Might tip around a few places after work and see can I pick any up.

Ah yeah good idea, I would but I won't be about the place on Saturday, best of luck though

Put a new tire on the car, huge improvement now, no wheel wobble at speed and the cabin is so much quieter.

    Day 4:
Still cant get the B block out. That red bar moves about 2mm, but doesnt free up anything. Running out of ideas.

Sister reversed into the car this morning. :/

Does a crack in a bumper mean new bumper or is that an easy fix?
    IMG_09755_zps66078dc8.jpg

Bumper off after work, just as my quote rang back.
€175 for weld repair by weld specialist and full respray of entire bumper, plus small bit of trim. He knocked it down to that from €235 once he heard the bumper was off, happy days.

I no longer look like an itinerant driving around. :)
Bumper was welded in Armagh, then finished in Meehans Crash Repair, Dundalk. Got it back on yesterday, i repaired the trim myself and reinstalled all parts and PDC sensors today.

Whole bumper was sprayed, along with some strips of blue trim. They also fixed a crack under my driver door which i cracked off a small wall recently. Absolutely flawless all round, highly recommended.
