They do indeed. AFAIK, they have a van or small truck that goes to Dublin every few weeks.

Tempting... Id still like to see the seats in the flesh first though. I might end up taking a spin up this weekend, if I can find some time.

By all means, if you wanna root around the breakers yards near newry for a 2009 VW passat CC black or black/cream leather interior with no or basic electric seats, do. :D

On that note, the seats in question wouldn't have any electronics :( So id have to turn that off with VCDS I guess/hope. If I found an interior with more electronics than I have already, it could be a nightmare trying to install the looms and wire it all up.

Has anyone ever removed and reinstalled seat airbags before?

they visit dublin with a truck twice weekly if memory serves me. we got various bits shipped direct to our door from them and it was very competitive, next day delivery also.

You could ask them if they would bring them down for you to have a look at in Dublin if the parts truck isn't too full.

With regard to the looms, most cars have the looms in them already regardless of whether or not they had the full electric seats from the factory so it's plug and play.

VW seemed to feel this was a waste of loom.
This guy here bought climate control seats with full electrics.

Bottom line, his driver side motors work but doesnt have climate control/memory seats. His passenger side had no electrics, and it looks like he's missing some connectors.

Kinda puts my €770 for the 535d into perspective, fully comp with 1 yrs NCB and im 26.

    Britton insurance ftw

I'm with them on the van too. VW transporter 2.5tdi. 620 euro fully comp(commercial policy). 27, 2 years NCB. Spent ages shopping around. Couldn't even get a TPF&T that good elsewhere. Customer service is sound too.

Actually what if you removed most of your interior first? Leave the driver seat in and fit the interior above?

I like your thinking outside the box approach!
Though OP would need to ensure they disconnect batteries (as not to upset Airbag and seat sensors) and bring exactly the correct tools and that the new seats havent got bent frames etc (easily fixably but not at the roadside).

Back inside the box we go. I like the idea, but experience has told me there's a 100% chance that wont go to plan.

Yeah they are only faulted by one thing, the higher excesses (usually)
Think my excess is 2k. Either 1k or 2k anyway. But considering the policy was an average of nearly 1k cheaper than the competitors anyway, it is kindof a muchness.

Surely with the back seats down and the front seats extended out, they'd all fit in the back of the CC with some Ikea style magic?
Was trying to visualise it, but the 2 front seats are going to be massive. Then theres the back bench, and upright, 2 pillars, center console, and 4 door cards. Its a big car, but I dont think its big enough to fit 2 interiors into.

I might tip up to em this weekend if I get a chance to look around my own car beforehand, and all going well, get them to deliver it next week.

Anyone ever deal with traynors? Id be hoping to pay a bit less than they're looking for. Are they negotiable?

I don't like traynors very much but thats just me, I always say find a better deal elsewhere as they can be expensive.

Don't remove your interior and drive like that, the airbag module will shat itself! :(

Best thing to do is rent a van for the day if you decide to buy it, i can show you a pic of an interior bought ages ago, not a hope of fitting it in a car!!!

Dont plan on driving around with a half ripped out interior. Im not a fan of the car ****ting itself. It did one 2 night ago, I freaked. Got it sorted eventually.

If there were cheaper alternatives id consider them, but finding a suitable leather interior for my CC is proving a right pain. They seem to be rare enough cars in Ireland, and even rarer to find a crashed one with the right sized, leather, correct electronics, full interior. After VAT and the exchange rate, itd be near 1k for 4 seats, centre console and door cards.

Yes, there aren't many of them up there either. And they know it ;)

I'll be trawling later if I find something useful I'll send a link :)

Any chance of swapping the seat frames / electrics over? I know its do-able in the E46 which is the only reason I'm mentioning it... No idea what it'd be like in a CC though.

E46 dont :P And I'm fairly sure most BMWs only have the seat wiring required. As in, Even if they have electrics, they won't wire in for heated seats if the car won't have them, etc.

I considered this for about 30 minutes, and then realised id end up with gaps in the leather. The manual leather seats have lumbar support arm, and wheely tilt seats. So there these arms and wheels are, there would be holes in the leather to accomodate them. If I transplanted the leather cover to the electric seat, id expose those holes. Unless im wrong about the manual seats.

    It is a Torx
    Just a massive size

On a semi related matter...Why do VAG use torx screws, surely they realise that this is standard only in the US??

Harder to strip the heads in them, and give better leverage. They don't round out like allen nuts, don't need the precise point of a philips head, and are still reasonably easy to locate and less likely to slip than a flathead.

    Spline bit

edit: sorry in a rush. It's a spline bolt. They're 12 sided. Torx are 6. You'll need a spline bit to remove it. They come in metric m6, m8, m10 etc. sizes. That looks like an m10 or so.
