Installed Enigma 2 followed the guide for the install and it all works fine................except the terrestrial channels. Scan found them and they are in the list but when I select them I see what is on now and next and the signal strength but the screen is black.

Tried scanning again and no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

try checking if the bandwidth is set to 8mhz
    menu-setup-service searching-Manual scan

saying that I notice mine is set to 7mhz in championcs AR-P backup - but I had to set it to 8mhz in HDMU

    hi guys,

I am running Open AR-P, what way do I need my Sat Configuration set-up to be able to watch one channel and stream another. At the moment i have:

    A: advanced, 28.2, LNB1, Priority Auto,
    B: Equal to tuner A
    C: DVB-T

This seems to only allow streaming the channel I am watching..

You might have installed and be using a version of the e2upgrade plugin that does not let you make an image backup.. In my earlier post I had a link to a site where you can download a version of that plugin that lets you flash and make a backup of an enigma2 image.

Maybe this post should be put in the firmware thread - this one is getting difficult to find stuff in.

also Flex, as the person that got crossepg running on Spark, and also running enigma versions, how do they stack up against each other now? the lack of 7day epg is what got me onto enigma.

B and C are the same as yours and I can stream a second channel

I started a thread over on the Satstation/Lavatronics forum which describes my nightmare and eventual solution to getting crossepg working on Spark. The key is to have a channel tuned in called: "EPG Background Audio" and to use firmware 1.2.63 but not to use the Weather App feature in it. You can get Spark 1.2.63 and install it on Alien2... details in this thread.

Crossepg on Spark is not nearly as good as Crossepg/Coolepg on HDMU. You can only view the epg for one channel at a time for instance. But I just like how stable and simple Spark is so it's useful to have it there to revert to when needs be.

I'll post that info on setting up the e2upgrade plugin in the firmware thread so if no one has any objections. In fairness maybe some of the steps in Pogs HDMU setup guide need fleshing out. I know I would have loved a step by step idiots guide but then who has the patience to put one together!

Anybody know of any tv/movie plugins that dont stutter and freeze when watching something on them? I have 1channel, icefilms and TSMedia installed but whenever I play anything on any of them I can only watch about 5 minutes of what I am watching before the HDMU logo appears on the top left of the screen and the video starts playing up. I keep having to turn the box off and on.

I found a plugin called Burning Series which plays the videos fine but a lot of the shows are in German. The HDMU image I am using is only 3 weeks old.

It sounds to me like a HDMU issue as these plugins run fine for me, what version are using? I use them on daily basis with no problems

I don't think it's a internet connection issue as you can stream from Burning Series.

I checked on a couple of other websites last night and one guy told me to starte to download the video before watching it. I did this and I waited until the download was at 20% and then I went into the downloads folder on my receiver and started playing the video. Had no problems at all. I then tried another video and did the same thing and again I had no problems.

The third time I just played the video without downloading it and about 10 minutes in the stuttering and freezing happened again.

I would say you could be right though about it being a HDMU issue as I installed the same image on my dads box. He was getting the video problem as well on some videos and he has a 50 meg connection as opposed to my 3 meg :D

    Derek

I have been using it for over a week now - it is quite stable.
I can't get the youtube player running or permanenttimeshift. also I have had trouble with autotimer (I did make the changes recommended by championc)

Other than that it is a good image - faster than HDMU imho and the cec feature is a winner!!

Have the box about a week now and all good so far except I keep getting service unavailable message every so often, sometimes on the irish channels, sometimes on the sat channels. I read it was a glitch to do with recording. Can anyone tell me if there is any stable image out there that this doesn't happen on?

Yes that bug is on Hdmu.
I tried Pkt Hyperion and that didnt have the bug.Its a good image.

Thanks thought it may be on all images. I tried Pkt Hyperion for a day or so and it was quite smooth, only changed back over to hdmu because the rte player video quality was much clearer. Might give it a go again.

i installed the Pkt Hyperion image but failed at the first hurdle as it wouldnt pick up my remote control, so was useless as I could even get past the setup wizard.
Any one else have issues with this image not picking up the remote?

I couldnt get RTE Player to work on Hyperion.
1channel and other streaming apps in TSMedia dont play either, they just stay at 00:00 which is odd as other streaming apps like Mediaplugin work fine.

Strange, have tried a few time to load it, just seems to get stuck in boot. Should i leave it for a while, is it doing something in the background?
My own E2 AR-P backup loads from spark and boots no problem..

Did you make sure the backup was in the root of the usb drive as if it isnt the box will stay at "Boot"

DOH! You mentioned that before Zardoz. My own backup works from a folder but anyway, I'm up and running with Champs image from root!! :) Thanks!

Any image working right on these now?

Does enigma need constant internet connection?

Anyone get box working right with midband connection?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,234 ✭✭✭Fresh Pots

Decided to give pk hyperion image a second go and it seems to be working fairly well. Only problem is I can't figure out how to install auto timer plugin. I found an ipk file for it on the net and put that in the extensions folder but nothing happened. Do i need to do something else with the ipk file or has anyone got any different solution?

Looking at the specs of the Alien2 again I see it doesn't have a gigbit ethernet port.. only 10/100. This is probably a bottleneck when it comes to streaming from it.

Does anyone have rock solid HD streaming over Wifi? What sort of cabling (e.g cat 5e, cat6), router (e.g 802.11-N, dual band) and wireless card (e.g triple steam) do you have? I'd like to upgrade my network to better support streaming and going to get a new router but not sure which to buy.

Depends on what you mean by working "right". I have used HDMU and Open AR-P both have been stable for tv watching but can run into trouble when trying other options like streaming inwards - some work and some don't. The 7day epg etc are all working perfectly.

Enigma does not need an internet connection for tv but obviously it would for streaming and downloading plugins - you could connect to a network for that and disconnect for actually watching tv.

don't know about midband - your only problem would be watching streamed channels which would be the same as on a PC at your home.

Try adding the one listed in bug report 92 on the AR-P forum on top of any you have installed

Edit: Could I get a copy of your image?

It doesn't need one, 10/100 ethernet is 100mbit, 1080p HD is about 30mbit

Firstly thanks championc, I am using your image for almost 2 weeks now and it is working nicely.

Should you put that link in the firmware thread?
I understand the reasons given to not do this, but it seems that lots of people are using it anyway and posting questions here.
Perhaps put a health warning with it about usage and/or setting up a thread for users of it who need help

I really thought that there would be further updates by now but sadly, nothing yet to enable streaming of a channel other than the one being watched.

I could make it available generally but I'd need to remove one bit first. I'm away on holidays right now it would be two weeks before I could possibly post it.
