    Ah some day......

Having a bottle of Oxman by the Brown Paper Bag Project. It's listed as a Brown Ale on the bottle, but in a blind tasting I'd find it hard to distinguish it from a really good strong stout. In fact, I'd say its extremely similar to Leann Follain but a tad less sweet and less carbonation....and obviously a different colour. Great beer.

I definitely agree with this. It has a very stouty character. I'm a big fan, although I wasn't gone on Dr Rudi #1.

So, this arrived with a house guest today... Waiting until the house mate is home on monday to open it.

Bottled on 06/06/13, so all of 14 days old!

    Can't bloody wait!

This was the best beer I had in California. So good!

Innis & Gunn Scottish Pale Ale. Don't know what to make of this. Not sure if I really like or really hate. You'd definitely know its Innis & Gunn though.

Tried Williams Joker IPA 500ml in the Captial Bar (of all places) Even that place is doing some craft now which says plenty.

Unfortunately I thought it was awful. Almost certainly the worst IPA I've ever had. Not sufficiently carbonated or hopped for my taste.

Was in ATG afterwards, enjoyed a pint of Ruthless Rye and Blindfold from Sierra Nevada. Particularly enjoyed the malt/hop combo of the black IPA in the Blindfold.

Was later disappointed when they ran out of Leann Folláin:o

I'm going to try Left Hand Smoke Jumper Smoked Imperial Porter, it better be exceptional at 15 quid a bottle. I had White Gypsy Imperial Russian Stout last night which was average.

    €15 a bottle?

That's the sort of beer I'd be taking a trip to Drinkstore or somewhere for rather than buy it in a pub. It's good, but it's not €15 good.

Its 15.99 for a 22oz in Redmonds. Very nice it is too.

That's the price in Drinkstore! I've looked at it a few times when placing an order online, but I could never bring myself to do it.

Actually, just looking at Drinkstore's website there.....some really interesting stuff from Rogue.

    Rogue Dark Rum

    Rogue Dead Guy Whiskey

    Rogue Hazelnut Spice Rum

    Rogue Pink Spruce Gin

    Rogue Spruce Gin

Rogue, Chatoe Oregon Single Malt Whiskey

    All mad money though

Have had Abstrakt 13 and Mikkeller black imperial stout(18%) lately.

The former being aged in sherry barrels, has a really nice smell to it and some good heat and taste from that aging. Overall wasn't hugely impressed with it, was nice but nothing special.

The Mikkeller is quite good, reminds me of a high abv Goose Island Barrel aged stout I had a long time ago but not as harsh. Nicely done by Mikkeller, recommended for any stout lovers.

Delicious beer alright. Have to say that Czech Pilsner's are pretty tasty and Pilsner Urquell finds its way into my fridge on a regular basis. :)

Urquell always seems to be oxidised when I have it from a bottle. Does anywhere sell those cardboard packs to protect it from lightstrike? Ive seen these abroad a few places.

Drinking a Kinnegar Limeburner now, its pretty poor. Getting tired of sub-par Irish beers.

Finally tried Metalman Pale Ale and Fransiscan Well Shandon Stout on tap. Neither disappointed.

Had a Leffe Brune to restore my sanity. The Kinnegar was a drainpour.

So I popped this bad boy open yesterday.

Brought it into Salt House in Galway and shared it with a 3 mates (one being the manager and the other two being former staff).

Being a greedy hoor I had about half the bottle (22oz bottle, so just over a pint in total?) and they had the other half between them.

I'd love to say it wasn't as good as people say.

I'd love to say you're not really missing out and that it's overrated and it's not the best IPA I've had.

    But jesus christ lads.

It's fecking perfection, could not say anything bad about the beer besides I felt cheated by the fact that I don't have more of it!

Probably the best beer I have ever drank and I cannot wait to get over to Cali and drink it on tap from the brewery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,491 ✭✭✭stuchyg

wouldn't think there's a doubt about that one

I meant the bottle was just over a pint in total.

I had about half a pint, like, I filled up that porterhouse half pint glass and then the lads got about a 1/4 a pint each or something close to it.
