I meant if you want to be able to select a specific screensaver from a collection of favourites you may have and make it stick not change each time you open your nook. Maybe I should have called it wallpaper.

Anybody suggest a good RSS reader (preferably with the ability to read the articles offline)? I believe the LifeHacker recommended app, NewsRob, closes down at the end of the month when Google Reader goes.

If its a Kindle you use, the 'push to kindle' chrome app is fantastic. Any web page, articles etc can be sent to your kindle in article mode at the click of the mouse. If I see any article online that's of interest I just click the button and the article is waiting for me on the Kindle whenever I switch it back on (and connected to wifi), once it's set up its great.

Hey, I tried rooting my Nook, and the install seemed to go fine, but now it just hangs on the startup screen where it says "Your nook is starting up"

Any ideas whats up? I tried holding the power button for 20 seconds etc, but nothing.

A little note from Gary Larson, the guy who created the Far Side cartoons...

Yay! The two that I ordered have finally been dispatched! I had given up hope. Had a 20% off code at the time so they cost €32 each.

Buy it and have it delivered via parcel motel.

Considering buying one but they seam to be out of stock again . . . .

Blackwells have them in stock - anyone any advice about buying through them ?? I haven't the patience/time to read through 80 pages of this thread !!!
Also can these readers be routed to use kindle books ??

    Thanks in advance !!

I initially ordered through Blackwell's and after the order being 'on hold' for several weeks they cancelled it as they can't be sold to people paying with a non-uk card.

I had set up to deliver via Parcel Motel but my billing address was ROI.

From what I remember, a few people did receive orders from them, but if I were you I would try to secure through argos or asda whenever they get stock.

Thanks , I suppose I'll just keep an eye on asda and argos then just to be safe :)

I have a magical device that captures day time and allows me to release it at night time. It's weird and strange, called a lamp. :pac:

Sorry, but yes you're correct, there is no light on the Nook Simple Touch.

    Hi guys,

At long last I finally got my hands on a Nook, success!! :D

I'm delighted, I had long given up hope of getting one at this stage.

Just wondering, for those of you who already have one and have gone through the process, do I need to have WiFi when setting it up?

Also, is there any problems registering the device with an Irish address?

Anything to note I should watch out for when registering it?

Also, is it recommended to upgrade to the latest firmware straight away?

    Thanks guys :)

Someone posted these earlier in the thread. €1.50 in dealz. Does the job for nighttime reading.

Keep a very good eye on the progress of your order. I ordered one through flubit same as you but when there was no sign of it arriving I had to make a few attempts to contact Flubit, eventually got an answer saying the supplier had told them it was not currently in stock and asked if I wanted to cancel or hold on a month or so until it was back in stock.
Needless to say I cancelled, ordered directly through asda myself and had it delivered through PM. The few quid saving from Flubit in hindsight given their lack of response to my queries and the fact they let me order an item they didnt even have in stock was not worth the hassle, will not be ordering any small value item ever again through Flubit.
Just my experience, but as I say keep an eye on the progress of your delivery and hopefully you have a more positive experience.
