It's fitted and I use it as much as I can on the motorways. In fact I won't ever have a car without it.

I think you could be on to something CM. I'm almost certain its being caused by me twisting into a better position. I might try and get a sit in a car with the better seats.

Keep an eye for msport seats for sale, you should get some reasonably priced on bmw-driver

Good info, thanks. 1400KM a month is small mileage? Jasus tell my wallet that ;)

Well I take it a nice amount of that is short journeys? If it was four 350km return journeys once a month then it would be fine, but I wouldn't risk short journeys on a Mazda diesel. I notice the odd petrol that comes up is usually pretty cheap compared to a diesel - you would be a long time making that up in fuel savings.

What were you flying- one of the training aircraft in Weston?

Flying is addictive- an expense addiction at that.

It only takes 2 things to fly: airspeed and money!

I was in the 2 seated Cessna 152. Very nice little aircraft. I got to fly and land the thing. Did a few manoeuvres too which was fun.

I've spent the evening trying to convince myself that I NEED a pilots license

I know they handed me a breakdown of the cost before I left.

It has left me wanting to win the lotto

My long term ambition when I was 16 was to Join the Air Corps/RAF after school. Kinda annoyed to find out that my eyesight wasn't up to scratch.

I did some hours in the Cessna 150 in Birr aka "the Crow". That aircraft was involved in an accident last year. I just read on RTE that there was another incident today near Birr. 2 minor injuries.

My Uncle was IFR night rated so used to go on some great trips with him when I was a young lad.

There's on of us in the process of joining the Air Corps ;)

    Who?! :pac:
My eye sight is the one thing that might catch me out too.
Had the interview yesterday, absolutely flew it. Searched out for a current cadet and found one, met up with him for 2hours a few days ago and he gave me some great advice. He said you know you're doing well if they start asking obscure questions... They asked me how the pressurisation system works in a jet and how a digital camera works :pac: I knew every single detail about every aircraft in their fleet, including those from 70years ago and when they finally got me on a question they just laughed and said "ah we were wondering just how much you know" :D
It's amazing how fun studying is when you're learning something interesting!

Best of luck Ardennes... I hope it goes your way. My own visual acuity is not quite up to the AC standard but well within class 1 aeromedical standards. Some day!

Well as i type this on my bed I can see the ATC tower in Cork :pac:
Ive always been fascinated by planes thanks to my dad, then theres the ww2 side of it (i must own a DC-3 Skytrain) and the fact that at the end of the day they are teaching you to fly! And fly a Pilatus pc-9m in particular :D
I had to be measured twice at the fitness test last week, scraped in 2nd time by not standing so proud by half a cm :o

Im being realistic, its still very much a pipe dream, but at least its good practice for the Army and Navy stages

The standard of eyesight is not as high as it was once. If it can be corrected by glasses it usual will be ok. Colour vision is very important though. A surprise amount of people are colour blind to certain shades if red and green and would go through their whole life with knowing until it tested.
