    Did you read the article? Most of the reasons are really stupid.

    5) The explosion of Krypton conjures up images from the mystical Kabbalah where the divine vessel was shattered and Jews were called on to perform tikkun olam, repairing the vessel and the world. No one did more of that than the Man From Metropolis.

    Er, yeah, sure...sound logic there.

    I'm sure "Islamic news" will soon publish a similar article tongue in cheek explaining how Superman is really Muslim.

    Then the Christians will follow suit and fights in Belfast will break out over whether he is Taig or Prod.

    Back home some people call me Elvis. By the same logic I'm Elvis.

    It might lessen the air of dignity the Orangemen try to create at their parades if the guy at the head of the procession was wearing a cape and red underpants.

    As Michael Shermer put it "any sufficiently advanced ETI is indistinguishable from God", so yes he could be viewed in Messianic terms by ordinary folk. That says nothing about Superman's personal views however.
