There are so many phone tracking apps out there now. Many read messages and calls etc.. Is there a way to tell if the phone is being tracked? I know this might defeat the purpose when dealing with thefts, as in it would be best if the robber didn't know that there was a tracking app installed.
But I know that I could install these apps on friends on families phones very easily without their knowledge (and they could do to me). I'd have no interest in it and I'd hope my friends and families wouldn't either, but there are strange people out there. There must be plenty of people out there who are being tracked without their knowledge. So how could somebody check? Is a factory reset the only sure way of knowing that you are not being tracked?

Not even a factory reset, if yer phone is rooted

if your phone was being tracked its more than likely done at a level where a factory reset resets it to when it was being tracked.

I guess the only way you could be sure would be installing a custom OS and probably changing your kernal. With android being so open source look for a simple one that shows you code.

You also got to open your phone and look at the board (bye bye warrenty). Then google the specs and geeky photos to see if anything on yours is different.

if phone is clean put it all back together and install the custom os and kernal. Root the phone and install some network monitors and look for any suspicious traffic. Check battery to see if GPS uses any battery when it shouldn't or you have it turned off.

either that or take the tinfoil hat off

I didn't for a second imply that I thought I might be being tracked. But there's no doubt that there are some people out there being tracked without their knowledge. Be it by their partners, family member, dodgy phone shop repairman, whatever.

Sorry the tinfoil hat thing was a bit of tongue in cheek, have a few mates who are quite paranoid about "the man" and being tracked etc.

Like putting spoon over and over again in white at the bottom of all emails to a mate and watch their confusion as they get nothing but ads for spoons and similar all over the web

Duolingo have released their Android app.

Getting through German on this. It's quite good in that it is easy to stay at it, it's almost like a game.

Yep. If rooted you can make some of them install to the system partition so a factory reset doesnt remove them

Ah, I was wondering. I had installed it on a rooted phone and had factory reset and formatting some partitions and it wasn't working when I tried it the next time without reinstalling. Makes sense there has to be a different setting for it.

With cerberus, its not a different setting. They provide an update.zip that you can flash via recovery. It goes direct into system partition. Very sexy. That coupled with hiding the app icon makes for a stolen phone to be found.

But a thief that installs titanium backup can just uninstall it that way? Or if titanium backup is already on the phone any app can be uninstalled.

Cabbage Ultimate, this is a webtext app, that when you 1st sign it it will then use your webtext credits to send messages, it lets you send them all over the world for free (it does on 3 network other networks may vary).

Sky Sports Live Stream - This is a Sports streamer, watch all live matches, events F1 etc - Great app.

Clean master - Cleans up your phone and relesases space from the memory.

Anyone know of a good application for seeing what sports is on TV and lists the fixtures and times of each?

Most people who go and buy the phone would not know what titanium backup is or that it can uninstall apps. Most thieves would be thicker than this. Also bear in mind that there probably won't be any clues that they are being tracked so they won't even know to try and find a way of getting one of these apps off the phone. Most likely they will do a factory reset and think that they've done enough.

I'd also like to know this. At the moment I use the Paddy Power site which provides tv times for all sports

Same as , not ideal though, a dedicated app would be tidy.

Pretty good, doesn't include the irish channels though!

This is awesome and carries Irish channels and Sky Sports channels. Pity about the ads.

TV listings Ireland but it's just a guide you'd have to look for whats on yourself. It's a good app

Obviously has the Irish channels, English + sky too

You can sort the channels in your own order which might help with seeing whats on

You're right (go into channel settings and change provider is how I did it) and it's really quite pleasant! Think I'll change over from my recommendation! (I hate ads and this has none).
