Was back in the Dark Horse on Friday. Delighted to see Buried at Sea back on tap. Also got me a LF from the attatched offy that they were happy to sell me.

The other standout drink, from what became a messy one, was a 500ml bottle of Jaipur IPA.

Was a bit steep at €8, but a really delicious fruity, spicy and hoppy pint. Loved it.

This week I've had a varied we selection.

I've had a few bottles of Odell IPA, it really is brilliant stuff.
Windjammer is on tap in Salt House at the minute so had one of those last night, every bit as good on draught as on cask, lovely beer.
Also had a Blindfold Black IPA, good stuff, couldn't drank much of it between the high ABV and the malt and hop profile.
And Old Peculier was on cask in salt house the other day so I'd a half of that, as good as always.
Oh and I had a Kindred Spirit, a few burried at sea and a 5am saint at the galway beers saturday night, all also lovely.

I didn't know where to put this so thought here would do!

I got a facebook invite a few weeks back to an event called "This is Beer".
I clicked the invite, applied for tickets, even shared it with a few friends. I didn't know whow as running it, but was hoping it was C&R or Norest or Grandcru or somebody like that.
Turns out it was Hieniken Ireland.

I got my invite email today asking me to reply saying if I'd be going or not and if I'd be bringing a friend.

    Here is my reply

    "Sorry Irish Girls Name.

After realising who the event was being run by/for I've decided I'd rather drink the sweat collected from armpits of 30 intercounty footballers on a sunny july saturday mixed with the urine of a dehydrated yack than willingly drink tasteless, fizzy yellow piss that passes for beer from the "lovely" people down at the Heineken/Murphy's Brewery in Lady's Well. Well, actually, they do make Murphy's and that's not terrible, so they know how to brew beer with taste, just choose not to.
Anyway, back on point, good luck with the event, hopefully you manage to convince a few people that after drinking your bland, cold, over carbonated ****e that craft beer is worth trying and a few people leave there wanting to try real beer.

    Slán,

    Seán."

    Bit harsh.

    Maybe a little.

But on the facebook app thing, they made no mention to who they were, what beer(s) they were promoting and waxed lyrical about having qualified Cicerones guide the tasters the complex tasting beers or various styles.

then I found their website and it was 7 ****e pale lagers, Paulaner and Affligem. So out of 9 beers, 2 are worth trying and even one of those is pretty poor.

Only the Affligem is worth drinking.

If they were just honest about what they were hawking, I'd have passed over and forgot it.

As good as any supermarket bought larger and with a pretty can. Went down well in the sun. Standard Norwegian fare, brewed by Norwegians for Norwegians.

    Where did you get this?
    Thanks in advance.

Love the way you misspelled Hieneken as if it was a bad word and you wanted to get around the site's bad word filter!:D

Just picked this up from Drinkstore - Really nice
It's like a tastier version of Kona's pipeline Porter (except it's a brown ale)

Looking forward to trying the latest Brown Paper Bag Project beer.

I had a Whitewater Hoppelhammer the other night. Really nice. Glad they went for the extra abv, gives it more bite imo.

Smuggled out of the country in a suitcase ;). Pretty sure Hansa is difficult to get outside of Norway (or Bergen for that matter!).

Its just pure luck. I also have had alot of bad beers too so its all swings and roundabouts.

I only had Hop Henged last night as there are no taxi's where I am and have to drive. Which I really liked but maybe too sweet for more than 2.

Tonight though I have a lift so going to start on the porters/stouts.

With the weather change, I've noticed a shift away from porters and stouts to more IPAs Belgian Ales, but I'm still having a Black Ball tonight.

I had a Thornbridge Jaipur IPA with my dinner.
Wow, delicious hoppy flavour but subtle at the same time.
It's been on my to drink list for a while.
Have a couple of brown bag oxman chilling in the fridge, will pop one open soon

Looking forward to trying the new Franciscan Well limited edition brews later, a coffee porter and a 7.5% IPA dry hoped with Citra. They're on in the bar for the next few days and then available in off licenses.

That IPA is fast becoming one of my favorite drinks.

Tesco deliver. Might seem obvious but many just think of groceries being delivered. When they were doing cheap trays of beer at christmas I was thinking of getting 5 or 6 of them delivered. I live a 5mins walk from my local one but have no car.
