hope they don't take the advise of a spud grower i met who said it was only the right time to plant spuds when you could bare your ar*e and sit on the drill comfortably - could be loads of F&F boardies done for indecent exposure

done my first proper rodeo today. 200 yds being dragged around holding a weanling by the ears is painful. And a bit of advice anyone that thinks just burning a circle round a calfs horn rather than taking out the bud, it doesnt work. one strong bud on all our calves, i experimented and got the results and never again. Other than that all done for blackleg and dosed. If anyone heard shouting today it was probably me so dont worry.

I was de-budding the last of the calves myself this evening. One mad Lim bull went beserk. First attempt to load him in the crate and he jumped forward out over the front and caught my hand in under the top chain. So I feel you pain. Christ they can be strong at a few weeks. He had tiny buds too, but off they came. I agree with you about taking off the buds. It's a sh1tty job, so might aswell do it right first time.

Sunday 26th May, 1st day of June milk.
We all had to put in bigger tanks and go on 3 day collections cos the lorry wouldn't do Sunday collections. So what do you think happens?
Yep, instead of saturday the lorry trundles in sunday morning and my biggest collection of the year so far goes into June's collections.
So milk produced on thursday 23rd gets hijacked into june.
So payment for 3 days production as well as this whole week gets held back till 18th july. Special praise for the genius who drew up the milk months:mad:

Yeah seen it terrible for the parents and kids involved paying big money and that to happen.RTE not putting the show on their on demand site I'd say any of the ones who were abusing the kids are fairly sh**ing themselves in case they get recognised

Out of interest who do you supply? I'm with Glanbia, we most certainly do not have enough room for 3days, barely got enough for 2days as is now:eek:

We only burn the circle around the horn. Used to scoop them out until I saw it recommended not to on here. Use a red got gas dehorner and put it on it for 10 seconds where it Burns fairly deep.

was terrible, poor kids, you often wonder was does go on.....they are being paid big money and should look after them properly. Often wondered if you arrived at creche unannounced or looked in the window what would you see. Terrible as little kids cant tell you whats going on

Glanbia have said you still only need storage of 5 milkings. If you have storage for 3 days and your lorry wants 3 days great. But if it doesnt suit you have the right to get the lorry every 2 days.
Some drivers have told farmers they have to go 3 days. You dont. But obviously if buying a tank get one for 3 days

    not necessarily true

We were put on 3 days back in 2007 - literally 3 months after buying a new bulk tank based on 2 days - and there was no option to stick with 2 days.
