Well we've gone & done it now. The trading forum is no more! Well, not quite. As you may or may not have seen it's been re-branded as the Arcade & Retro Marketplace. So what does this mean? Well, it's now our own marketplace...we're free to trade, swap & give away things as before...but with the addition of being able to sell items there too.
Sweet! There are a few provisos though, to make it safer & more comfortable to use. Have a read of the new charter, & the new Members Services thread, which can be a focal point for those of us who need any custom bits & pieces & physical help with repairs/projects etc.
So there we have it, a place to garner more retro goodies, in the comfort of our own forum. No bags of tayto, no half eaten mars bars offered, just sensible & honest stuff. Ciderman & Logie remain as mods & won't be taking any crap, so read the charter very carefully. The other two Cmods & I will also be watching over it to ensure it runs as planned, so don't arse around.
So happy buying folks, & if there's any questions use this thread

I think a, common sense approach is required.
So people should take care take the OP is right and they'll have editing time to do it that built into the system.
Also, I'd thank people not to create new ads constantly to keep their threads near the top, if it becomes an issue then it'll be entered into the rules and consequences defined.

It's not about putting up the wrong price, I was thinking more about an ad not getting any takers after a week or whatever - you'll normally see the original post being edited with a price reduction and a thread bump.
Presumably we can do this? By a PM to a mod if we can't edit it ourselves.
One thing I would say - folks should really include pictures especially for expensive items.
Yeah this editing restriction is a site-wide thing, outside of our control. Editing of a post over 24 hours old (I think it's 24 hours, maybe 48) will have to be requested by a mod yeah.
However, I'd nearly suggest anyone dropping a price just replies with a new post in the thread, that way it bumps the thread too. Then send a request to a mod to edit the op if they so wish it. Obviously excessive bumping won't be allowed, it needs to be fair. So we'll see how it goes, if its bumps galore then a restriction will have to be brought in at mods discretion.

Ok that's fair enough about posting a reply for price reductions, if a mod can also edit the OP at some stage too that would be great. Nothing worse than having to scan all posts for any possible reductions. Sure this might not be a big issue for a while yet, until it gets much busier which hopefully it will.
Aye, no pics = no parting of cash, too easy to have disputes over condition etc.0 -

Ah as long as they cover the main points you listed it doesn't really matter about the format imo.
Los Lobos mentioned elsewhere about a Feeback thread or something, that would be handy down the road. Since there's no proper feedback system linked to the user (I think?) - just somewhere to post you had a good (sales) experience with so and so or this person is a cowboy, mad about Legend of Dragoon and sold me a bunch of CD-Rs, steer clear.
Anyway, maybe food for thought for the future. See how things go initially.

Any links to the thread he was referring to? We'd need to be pretty careful with how negative feedback was addressed, but as you said it's something to think about for future useage. Can't see too many negative cases given the users here at the mo0 -

Their system isn't going to be implemented on boards so a simple Feedback thread of sorts would have to do - not sure how to handle disputes. They normal happen on thread and/or showing PM's which is great fun for everyone else to read. Anyway, if folk are careful who they buy/sell from it should be fine in the main.0 -

Unless we created a thread for disputes, where users can post in? Keep it all in one place, suppose it might work. Not sure it'll be needed, & the mods would need to mull that one over.
