But where was the arseholery? I like this new word ye made up btw

All jokes aside, there have already been a few situations managed and the rules are there to cover future potential issues by insuring those who use the marketplace do so with some security that they won't be subjected to the type of regular buffoonery that inflicts sellers and buyers on Adverts.
If that kind of nonsense seeps into the A&R marketplace then there will nothing to differentiate it from Adverts and we might as well throw our balls at the clock and close the marketplace completely.

    Here now buddy, play nice.

I was only joking, the Austin Powers nutshell joke just doesn't get any traction any more.

I think though all in all, it's been 99.5% very well used by those who have used it, & is by far a more enjoyable experience than using Adverts, it is for me anyway. There's just something reassuring when you know its a forum regular you're buying from/selling to

It was brought to mod attention a while ago that there were offers being made via pm. The rules are there for everyone, & making the whole thing transparent, reflects the good nature that the very forum represents. Any rule breaking will be dealt with, users know enough to report those breaking rules, & Cidey and Logie are more than ready to ban anyone who would try engage in arseholery.

Arseholery is a real word too, I read that somewhere.

No, your thinking of upholstery. :o

One thing I'd like to see more of, is users putting their location in the ad. It's grand seeing an item for sale, but then your left wondering where in the country it is & if you have to factor in postage then or not. Does the seller even offer postage is the next question.

I wonder if we should use a selling template, which is the first thing in the post...and after that the seller can say what they will. Something like:
    Item for Sale: Super Nintendo
    Location: Dublin 20
    Postage: Not willing to post
    Price: €50

I've an unboxed Snes here for sale, no yellowing & in mint condition. Two pads, rf lead & psu included. Will also throw in a Sim City cart with it

Sorry for posting this instruction again but...

Will all users of A&R and the Marketplace please read the Charter there and any other rules that may apply to specific sub forum, like the Members Services thread.

There have been several reported posts recently and they are almost all because of the failure of people to simply read and follow the rules.

If people could do so I and the other mods would be grateful but also it will save people unnecessary warnings and/or censure.

    Thanks for your attention.

Sorry to bump this, but it's some what relevant. Regarding the fundraiser auction for the signed Game Chasers NES...I'm thinking of removing the lock of €5 bids during the last few hours or so of the last day. The reason bids are locked in at €5 currently is for a few reasons, but mainly so that someone didn't drop a huge bid down ten minutes into the auction & then it died a death for the rest of the time. The smaller bids also means more people get involved, it's a bit more fun outbidding each other, & it'd get more attention if it's loads of small bids versus a handful of big ones.

However, on the last day, would it be an idea to remove such limits?

Hello, just bumping up this thread to let everyone in the A&R Forum know that the Charter for the A&R Marketplace has been updated and posted in the forum.

There are a few slight changes to it, the biggest of which is probably the new template that must be filled out for all new ads going forward.

Please have a read over the new charter!

    Thanks a lot!

Looks good Keith. What way are you handling already existing threads that don't have the template, just leave them be & let them filter out?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,398 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Yeh thats what i was thinking, just use the template going forward, there is only a page of ads now really anyways as ill be archiving most of the second page over the next few days, ive sent off a load of pms for the older ads today.

Going forward i will be archiving older ads without pm'ing if there is no activity in over month, but i will restore these back out if someone wants via pm.

It just means i dont have to keep pm'ing everyone after a month.

That's reasonable, having to track ads & pm the op's wouldn't be fair on you. A month is a pretty long time in terms of an ad anyway, if by that time there's no bumps then chances are it has sold & the op just forgot to mention

For info, another slight update to the Marketplace Charter.

    Regarding what is considered "Retro".
Whats classed as "Retro" is debatable, but on Boards.ie Arcade and Retro Marketplace its any system that is no longer producing new titles.

So that means Original Nintendo DS Games Can now be sold\Traded on the marketplace.

PS3, XBOX360, PS4, XBOX ONE, WII, 3DS Games are still not allowed.. for now.

    Thanks

Just to say thanks to keithgeo optimus prime for the great work in the A&R Marketplace. It's great knowing everything listed is current, & all the old/sold/abandoned ads are all swept away. Cheers dude :)
