Remember that moment in time when Red was once a crime lord?

Watching First Blood for the first time in ages, I forgot that they sampled some of the screams from it for Golden Axe, every time you kill someone in that you hear David Caruso screaming after Rambo stabs him :pac: handily someone went to the bother of making a comparison vid on youtube

Finally got out the hacksaw tonight and butchered a cheapo €10 usb powered pair of PC speakers from Aldi.

First part shows their sound, second video shows a test assembly.

Speakers sound really good and the new housing/mounting looks great! Nice one man.

Any thoughts on the monitor? Going to crack open a lappy or get a standalone one?

I have a 17” LCD that I 'borrowed' from work ready to be fit into the cab. I hope to get a chance to spray it at the weekend.

Went to put the PC part of it together last night but it looks like my win 7 DVD doesn't wanna work. Typical.

my gf has a broken laptop, screen is smashed, and I have a spare 20" lcd in the corner of the room. A decent laptop would be good enough to run a nice selection of mame games wouldnt it?

Yeah! I actually bought some bits off adverts for the brains:

Had to get a dedicated card for mine as I wanted to run some Namco boards like Tekken 3 / Tekken Tag etc.

Apparently according to online reviews I could probably get away with 20fps or so in Street Fighter IV with this card too although I'm not holding my breath.

I think the design I got is based off of the weecade. I have absolutely zero skills in wood working but I'm learning as I go. It's been a fun little project so far.

The cab is still a little wobbly but it'll do the job, besides I plan to use an old bit of skirting board to make a brace for it to try and make it a little bit more sturdy.

Going to pick up a spare bit of MDF at the weekend so that I can mount the monitor after it has been painted.

I recommend you start a little project for yourself like this as I've found it quite fun so far! You learn alot too!

Cool, I'll get on that if I have some free time next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,276 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Also I meant to ask, anybody know anyone that'd be willing to do a logo design for my cab? Wanna get a stylised 'MrVestek Aracde' for the marquee and then maybe a rounded logo for either side... getting them printed is another matter but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it!

Also anybody got any tips on how to make the marquee itself? What do I do, just sandwich the artwork between two pieces of plexiglass, then mount it?

    Thanks alot mate.

    Yeah sure whatever you'd like.

What size is it going to be and what colours would you like?

Whatever will contrast well with black and red.

I don't have sizes to hand as of yet, I think the marquee will be roughly 13" wide and 4" or so in height, sorry I can't be more accurate than that as the speaker panel isn't on the unit yet.

The sideart I don't actually have dimensions for at the minute.

Basically all I need is the logo as I can resize it myself as I see fit. I'm experience enough in photoshop to move layers around etc just not enough to actually design something myself.

    THanks mate!

Xbox One just gets more and more deluded:

    http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/publishers-to-receive-cut-of-xbox-one-pre-owned-sales-at-retail/0116137

Do they think the same high street shops that they're going to screw over on second hand sales are also going to push the Xbox One on customers?

Are they going to have to bully charity shops into being on the 'Azure' cloud?

Don't MS remember how retail killed the PSPGo? This is just pure greed and goes completely against first sale doctrine. I never trade in myself but it's a sickening practice.

They're going to need some pretty crazy EULAs on this thing. I can't see it holding much water in the EU courts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

With such a huge push on TV, & US exclusive TV content, it's already on a serious backfoot over here. E3 will be the real decider, but as it stands, of the two of them I'm likely to buy, it'll be the PS4 by a big stretch.
