After coming home and finding paint drops on the side of my car (house painting) I did the following:

Wash/Clay/Wash/Dry. Was probably enough but kept going..

Did the whole car with a finishing polish with the D/A (quick job, probably not working the polish fully). Looked pretty shiny after! This was mainly to remove some marring left by the clay anyway.

I put Rain-X on all the windows and I also filled in a few little paint chips with some touch up paint I bought. (Mostly around the sills so not very noticeable). Might post a pic tomorrow. Very happy with the condition of the paint overall for an 11 year old car.

Problem is I now have a lovely cleaned car but no wax to apply. All I have is Glanz Wax which didn't last that long last time and is very noxious to apply. (Petrochemical fumes + skin irritation). I wonder if there is anything inexpensive I can buy locally?

done lots to the glanza today. got a chance to give it some proper tlc. just buffed out a few scuffs it had picked up over the winter, buffed that yellow tarnish off of the headlights, fitted my mudflaps and generally gave it a bit of a tidy up :) with my little buddy domo!

    please forgive my photography :pac:

love this little car so much!

I finally decided to give Terraclean a try yesterday evening. Main reason was that my car is an 8 year old VAG diesel so I thought it would benefit from a good decarbonisation. I had recently cleaned out the EGR valve which was quite messy so thought it would be a good idea to give the rest of the system a clean.

During the clean it did not kick out any major plumes of smoke or anything.

I did not notice any major differences on the 7 mile drive home. The car seemed to drive the same as it did before the clean. I will wait until I can get a few more miles onto the clock before I see if there are any performance or MPG gains.

Got cruise control fitted on Saturday morning by George Dalton. Did a healthy 61Mpg on the drive from Athlone to Dublin then. Such a nicer drive with cruise control.
Sick of waiting on that ebay seller for the GPS module for the RNS 510, so im gonna order another one off another guy (fingers crossed). Ive a dispute open, and hopefully ill get my money back in a few weeks time when Paypal have to step in.

Also stuck my old RCD 510 up for sale. Here's hoping for some better offers.

No need for a sad face, they're a lovely wheel regardless.

A set of facelift ae111 wheels would look the biz on it too:

regarding the Cruise control, what type of car did you get it fitted to?

It's something I really want for my golf aswell but it seems like it would be quite expensive - can you give a ballpark of what it cost? even by IM if not here?

As i dont have working key fob , installed aftermarket central locking system (15 ish quid from china ) in to my old avensis, 1 h work, and it is done, matter of connect right wires with right wires. :pac:

Before that did a bit studying , found very helpful installation guide in one Russian site.

Got it in my 2009 VW CC. George quoted me €215 fitted, but it all depends on the cost of the part really. I know my old 05 A3 was about €50 cheaper I think, because the part was cheaper. Also depends on whats wired where in the car. If I didnt have the multifunction trip computer on my A3 it would of been loads more (apparently).

Best thing you can do is PM George and see how much he says.

Edit: Im guessing thats your 04 golf? Id say you should be able to get it fitted for under €200.

What did you use to steam clean the seats?

Used the Lidl steamer I picked up a few weeks ago, there are a few water marks on the passenger side but rest came up spotless and removed all the crayon marks, chewing gum, jellies, etc etc from carpet and upholstery...AND WITH NO CHEMICALS.. ;)

Don't want to spoil your sale, but those RCD510's are going for about $200 on eBay, and yours looks fairly well worn.

They must be eluding me on Ebay so. Only seen ones for €280-€350 on there. Unless you're talking about the fake chinese ones?

As for mine looking "well worn", its pretty much in mint condition. The last owner put a little "nipple" on the right controller, but it pulls off cleanly. Forgot to take it off for the pics.

Well, I'm a bit of a lazy cvnt when it come to this whole 'detailing' buzz. To be fair I haven't put a car through a brush wash in years and usually clean them myself or occasionally pay someone to do it. The classic gets the occasional belt of polish, normally twice a year max. Anyhow, wanted to freshen up the paint on the T/A so on our master detailer's advice I invested in these:

The result after a few hours work was this:

Very pleased and thanks again to MetzgerMeister for all the help and advice. ;)
