I used to be happy out cycling around Cork until my brakes failed on the way to college going down a really steep hill. Resulted in a James Bond esque moment with me leaping off the bike and managing to catch it before it flew down the hill, but it terrified me. Also, a certain roundabout on my way to work was known for being lethal to cycle on.

Think I should start it up again though, might get the weight moving!

Jaysus rq, how scary. I love cycling but i don't do it anymore because I'm too afraid of getting hit by a car.

I was reminded of this today. Check out their Vegetarian options.

I didn't get past day two of 30DS; when I started it the weather was really nice so I wanted to exercise outside instead. It wasn't too hard, just that I prefer exercising outside.

Having said that, I'm thinking of asking the gym for a weights programme to go with my running. Seems to be the best type of exercise in terms of making your body look sexay :pac:

Yeah, my healthy eating and exercising thing went out the window once exam stress hit. All the chocolate was involved. I regret nothing. :P Should really get back on the wagon, though.

I've started reading "Run Fat B!tch Run" in the hopes that it will motivate me with this exercise thing.

Might go to the gym in work tomorrow morning before my shift starts. Can I designate people to be mean to me if I don't?

The funniest thing happened at work today, made my whole last year of head-screwing tedium and my imminent leave all worthwhile... we have a group called Pathways who are Junior Cert students in the centre, they got up to some mischief this afternoon. They took all our tiny plastic chairs from the smoking shed and threw them up into a tree. Tree full of chairs. How they got one to the very very top I have no idea. The receptionist said it was "despicable" and ran to tell on them, the rest of us cried laughing and took photos. Work of genius.

30DS is definitely very very hard! OH and I did it last night and he's very sore now. I'm not too bad but after the first time I could barely walk the next day. Stick with it!! It gets easier!

Disappointing. Was hoping for some scandal. ;)

Finally replaced the light bulbs in the sitting room. It's so bright! I'd forgotten what that looked like. :pac:

There's a girl in my dance class and I want to get her exact hair cut. But I'm thinking it might be a leeetle bit weird then when I show up to class as her twin.

My hooly hooping ever so slightly improved! Probably I should just splash out on private lessons :p

    Ilyana that's great though! :)
Ugh, this reminds me of the horrors that are spreadsheets. I'll never forget my spreadsheets exam, you could cut the tension with a knife that day, everyone was sh!tting it.
Only one more sleep til I go on my holidays!! Yayyy! I see many many strawberry daiquiris in my future
Ooh, are you going anywhere nice?
Hit by a car while cycling AGAIN

Seriously, you have to drive across the lane I'm progressing in to turn right. How can you not see me? I'm coming towards you.
Sorry to hear this, hope you are okay and aren't (badly) injured!

Our tutor is such a b!tch. I handed up my projects and she had to nit pick, and told me I had "re jig" one of them and I did and then handed it back to her and she said "its not too bad now" FFS.

Then she handed me back the second one for me to "fix", even though it isn't wrong, she's just being awkward for the sake of it IMO.

Can't wait to be finished this course and away from her, ugh. Don't think I've wanted to get away from anyone as much tbh.

College is a no-go for me this year as the course I want to do, I need to Leaving cert maths (or higher) for it, and I don't have that, so I need to find out about doing a maths course, like the leaving cert, but without the other subjects. Sigh.

Toast afaik you can just sit one LC subject if you want - would that be an option for you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Ilyana 2.0

Went for a walk with the pooch and this other dog came bounding out of his house to bark at Archie. Archie just wanted to play with him but I was scared that this dog might have other ideas. Had to shout at it loads to get it away, dragging Archie with me.

I know the dog might not have meant any harm but we were right beside a main road and I was scared that if it dashed out, Archie might pull me after him (he's a big mofo). I really wish that people would keep their gates closed if they have a dog, when they live right beside a busy road.

Do you have any links for more info?

I'd certainly consider it, although I'd rather not have to actually go back to school, but if it was my only option I would do it.

I found a local VTOS course that offer it so I'll call into them tomorrow, but wouldn't mind having a back up plan in place anyway.

Would really love to do Biology too, loved that, but think maths is more important, for now anyway, as Biology won't be featuring in my career/college plans, but maths will.

Not really, I just remember a woman from home was doing the LC bit by bit when I did mine, she did biology one year, English another, think she did the seven subjects in the end. http://www.examinations.ie/index.php?l=en&mc=ex&sc=ef gives the fees for the LC and it says 1 or 2 subjects -LC/JC/mix of both on the list there, so it's certainly allowed.

You could probably do it outside of the school by doing one-on-one grinds and just sitting in the school for the exam itself, or maybe Youthreach or something like that?

    Good evening, all!

Hoping you're ok, RQ and your back is holding up, Ella. :)

    Hope you are ok RQ

Glad to hear you got rest Ella.

I survived my first day back to work, and avoided the temptation to tell someone they are thicker than a californian redwood.

Then the replacing of the front and rear brakes on my car was just over half what I expected it to be :)

And I've discovered that there may be a link between the fact I got new pillows and keep waking up with pins and needles in my arms/hands :)

I don't have any links either but this is what my boyfriend is doing as he needs a higher mark for biology for a course he wants to do.... He's in touch with his old school for sitting the actual exam - kilroys do a distance learning course for individual subjects n he's looking into to do a crash course in Dublin School of Grinds to supplement his studies. I think there are adult learning courses as well but don't know how advanced they are.... In summary, go for it! :)

Hooly hooping I know not of.

If hooly hooping is a bedtime fun activity then I've learned something new as well (although I don't know what it actually is.) It sounds like it should be though.

Second stone down since January! Yay! :)

Swimming on Friday. Picked up my sponsorship card from the LSPCA for the mini marathon and I'm picking my pack up on Sunday. :)
