any chance someone could recommend me a reference pcb 7970? according to ek configurator the 'GHz Edition royalAce' would be ok, as would the gigabyte windforce ones (which are also cheaper), but i'd just like to be sure. i dont really plan on overclocking for power consumption reasons

You think that's bad? Try computability.

    μ-recursive functions
a computation consists of a μ-recursive function, i.e. its defining sequence, any input value(s) and a sequence of recursive functions appearing in the defining sequence with inputs and outputs. Thus, if in the defining sequence of a recursive function 50bbd36e1fd2333108437a2ca378be62.png the functions e84fec1e074026d6fa8e3155482c35c3.png and bf1c4d6fd7b356ff9f844ff4275f6691.png appear, then terms of the form 'g(5)=7' or 'h(3,2)=10' might appear. Each entry in this sequence needs to be an application of a basic function or follow from the entries above by using composition, primitive recursion or μ-recursion. For instance if a333abbe7d8309724986d279bb886fb0.png, then for 'f(5)=3' to appear, terms like 'g(5)=6' and 'h(3,6)=3' must occur above. The computation terminates only if the final term gives the value of the recursive function applied to the inputs.

    New Prodigy colours!!

    http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/products/chassis/prodigy#gallery

Oddly, they have what looks like windows, rather than mesh on the side panels.

the colour looks nice and vivid on the marketing photo but when you've seen them in the flesh they look crap (at least the red one does)

Looks great and I will go back to it but I just couldn't get into it at all, although having completed Far Cry 3 and Bioshock Infinite back to back I am suffering from major FPS burnout .

That said I did make an exception for FC3 Blood Dragon yesterday, but only because it is such a fun, cheesy, 80s nostalgia drenched bundle of joy. :pac:

What's the difference between the Samsung 840 and 840 pro SSDs? Big price difference.

The major difference is the NAND chips. The pro uses MLC NAND chips, wheras the regular 840 uses TLC NAND which has a higher density but is slower and has a lower endurance (expected write/delete cycles per lifetime).

^ That said, Hardware.info have been testing an 840, and so far it's written something like 500TB without dying, so it's all relative.

You would need to be writing over 15 gb's a day average for it to be problematic within it's lifetime.

The majority of users will never be writing this much data.

Not the best choice for video editors but for the majority of people TLC nand is fine.

Before the takeover, people generally preferred AMD+nVidia and Intel+ATI. The best nVidia SLI chipsets were for AMD systems and crossfire was only available on Intel.

Of course ATI doesn't really exist anymore as AMD has pretty much used their own name exclusively. Probably to get their own name out a bit more which isn't that well known to the layperson.

    Is the speed difference noticeable?

    To compare:
    840 500GB http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Series-500GB-Solid-State/dp/B009LI7CEE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368198454&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+840+500gb
    £250

    840 pro 500GB http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Series-512GB-Solid-State/dp/B009LI7CYE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1368198462&sr=8-2&keywords=samsung+840+pro+500gb
    £350.

It should be. Share prices are up 35% since I mentioned it here :)

This is only the beginning. Once they release Q2 profits and projections for Q3 it's gonna jump more.

If they secure the deals for smart tv's that are rumored at the moment it's only gonna push them further.

I'm expecting at least €10 a share by next year.

Not on the higher size models.

Basically the pros have better writes but reads aren't much different.

The larger the size of the drive the faster these speeds are as well.

The 500gb pro's are already pushing the limit's of sata 3.
