Lats, how long can HDMI cables go and where I can get it cheapest? Got a 42inch TV for my Mancave, time to use the last output on my GPU and have a lovely gaming on 42inch!

Ive got a few 5 meter cables that I use in the gaff. Id imagine that would be enough. Cost me about €3 a pop on amazon a few months back, and very high quality.

These are the ones I use http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004BIG55Q/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Think the last time I checked, anything over 15 meters requires an active cable; i have a chealish 10m (about €12 on amazon) which works fine.

Why is the bitfenix merc alpha such a fan favourite here with builds? :pac:

It's price which is the main reason. Also build quality, it does not have plastic bits that can fall off like other cheap cases. Neutral looks so it's ok for most peoples tastes. Good cooling as standard with room for extra intake and exhaust fans.

Finally got the cards working as I wanted them to ( haven't had a day off since I got the second GPU nearly two weeks ago :( ) Getting an overclock set up on them now, for no reason other than I can. Currently undervolted all the way on the GPU core while I work out where I want the temps to be, no reason these cards wont get 1400 MHz though :D

Edit : Hilarious MS Paint scribble was just to block out the serial :o

Like I said, my mancave is a very humble one, I am happy enough to have one! :o. Still needs improving. I need smaller shelf to put TV on as I hate to have it so high. Then my Original 20gb Xbox bricked it self. Needs Hdd. Though not many around and you almost can buy original xbox for 50eu. I traded in my slim one due to lack of use.

I want to get Wii U for mancave as I am HUGE MH3 Junky, but misses wont be very happy to see me spending another 300eu on my mancave! Ill try to do it sneaky way in the next few weeks, but if she finds out, my mancave will become my home too! :pac:

Is messing around with the memory voltage in Trixx safe? As in, undervolting is safe, the worst that can happen is I crash?

My 7950s memory voltage is 1.6 at stock, it seems I can do that at 1.5v, and overclock a bit on top of that (not particularly stress tested yet, though).

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators Posts: 10,093 Mod ✭✭✭✭marco_polo

No hardware worries about undervolting crashes at all, its pretty much an inevitablilty that you have to crash the PC a few times due to a voltages that are too low whether overclocking or trying to find your minimum stable voltage.

Why would you undervolt it? Just overclock it. Most of those cards will go to at least 6ghz on the memory at stock voltage.

    Tinkering really.

I don't think it can do 1600mhz, it hard crashes almost instantly at 1500.

Seems like I haven't lucked out with the memory. It crashes not instantly, but after 30 seconds if I put the memory to 1.62v at 1500mhz.
