Gameplay-wise it's solid. It is the most astonishing game to look at that I've ever seen.
Some of the scenes are literally breathtaking.

I think the multiplayer is basically dead at this point (although haven't tried in a while).

I spent a lot of time at it when it first came out. Took a while to get to grips with it - played at a mental pace - but it was seriously addictive.

I enjoyed it quite a lot and will probably play it through again but I'd wait until you spot it in a sale.
There's seldom any good reason to buy games at full price these days. Origin doesn't quite give you the number of sales but nevertheless..

I hate how the "stumble upon" phrase has been stolen and now branded as stumbleupon.com

anyway, I didn't stumbleupon.com this interesting thread about hacking lightboost enabled 120hz monitors to give zero motion blur and looks like CRT, looks like 480Hz, and how it's all the rage at the moment and basically saved LCD technology. have I been living under a rock?

yes you have :p, most reviews for the benq and asus have some mention/link to the lightboost hack.

TFT Central did a very good review about motion blur and backlighting, which I haven't had the chance as of yet to fully read, but skimming it, they do mention Light Boost as well.

The red and black is fine, they have been using that for a while now. But the gold...
Is it just me or is the pcie slot on the itx board blocked by some backpanel ports?

Yeah, don't really like the colour. Nice to see ITX offerings out of the gate though. I'm personally more interested to see ASRock's boards.

I think it's just the angle of the shot, if you see the header to the left of the slot, it's slightly raised, and you can just make out the bottom edge of the audio I/O next to it, being slightly higher again.

tbh i was kinda expecting a ROG itx board from them considering how itx is starting to become a big thing with cases like the prodigy out

Speaking of motherboards, ASRock Haswell pricing:

    http://translate.google.co.ve/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=es&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pcgameshardware.de%2FPreisvergleich-Thema-231568%2FNews%2FHaswell-Sockel-1150-im-Preisvergleich-1068181%2F

TL;DR - They're about 20% higher than current equivalent boards. Factoring in the fact that they're estimated pre-launch prices, I'd say they'll be about 5-10% (worst case) more expensive.

that Asus has crippled onboard sound and the ugliest colour scheme to date. no thanks. I thought we left those jobs to ECS?

at least they have the same colour throughout the board unlike the many shades of blue they used on the last few sets of boards:pac:

speaking of which what was that mobo that had like 5 different colours on it. I think it was an AMD board maybe gigabyte.

I can't find good information on how to route GFX card signal through the motherboard port and to turn off the GFX card when not in use. I don't game during the college months and I'm sure my house mates wont appreciate a massive electricity bill. Is there a way to do this natively or will I need third party drivers?

    ASRock motherboards pictured:

I have to say, the Extreme6 looks positively bad-ass.

nice hopefully the itx model takes the black colour scheme

also 10 sata ports? anyword on if they're all sata 3 or another mix of 2's and 3's?

and i never thought i'd say it but i like my G710 more than my model m.

I'd assume it would. ASRock has been pretty faithful to their gold and black theme so far. I wish they would move to matte black PCBs rather than that horrible brown, but unfortunately that doesn't look to be the case.

As far as I know, Lynx Point is supposed to come with up to 8x6Gb/s ports by default.

You need to have virtu mvp installed in a certain configuration. I think it's I-mode.

Most modern graphics card's have good power saving features and only run at low 2d mode clocks when not gaming.

It won't make much of a difference.

If anyone around the Maynooth or Dublin area has one of these, I'd love to try one out after exams. Given my vision problems, I really don't know if it's worth investing in, but I am curious all the same.
