It's only PS3 and 360 (and PC in the future)

Jesus, up to this point I had forgotten about Rockster's policy of delayed release for PC. Despite being a dedicated PC player, I specifically bought a PS2 when San Andreas was released just for the game. While I enjoyed it, I never really felt at home using the gamepad and started afresh once it came out on PC.

It is going to kill me knowing that the PC version could be a good few months after console, but hey, first world problem and all that.

KKV - you're entitled to your opinion mate but it seems like every post you make in here is just you looking for excuses to dislike this game

    Well, in fairness...

Absolutely thrilled. Can't wait to see this.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the longest week of your life! (except the week before it comes out, obviously).
The Getaway and True Crime and Saints Row, etc. just don't seem to be able to get everything as right as GTA does. I'm sure if R* did (a 3D) london they'd make a success of it.
I don't really think it matters what you put up against GTA - It'll beat it's competition over and over again.

... And so on and so forth.

I've been posting about V in this Forum for a long time (and have posts back to the beginning of this thread in 2010). I was very excited for this game, but I'll be honest about it, too. No matter how much I want to play it, if it's looking shoddy then there's no point in sitting there typing 'lol awsum'.

Surely everyone agrees that the new screenshot quality is dreadful? Whether that's down to a sudden realisation from R* that they were being misleading, or just some pretty bad compression on the actual screens themselves, they look terrible when stood alongside previous ones.

I was extremely hyped up for this game, but from day one I knew the first trailer for V was more to sell some copies of Max Payne. When they (R*) started getting really stand-off-ish on their newswire and banning people for mentioning the game, I started getting annoyed.

When they announced a massive delay, I lost all interest.

I'm starting to get back into it again now (what, with all the new info that's appearing) but that doesn't mean I'm gonna sit back and applaud any old sh*te that they throw at us. :)

Well in fairness, they did release Max Payne on PC only a week after consoles (if I recall correctly). They also went on to say that they hope to 'close this gap' with 'future releases'.

I don't think V will be anywhere near a PC as quick as Max Payne, but I'd say, considering what a mess IV was on PC, that they'd be keeping their eyes on it and will hopefully release it sooner than most GTAs make it to PC.

Being honest, I'd be more than happy with IV graphics with improved lighting. I still play GTAIV and the graphics don't look that dated. So even if they're not as crisp as the screens we've seen, as long as it's to IV standards I'll be happy graphics-wise. Any improvement on IV will be a bonus.

I just hope they can get the most out of the processor in the consoles to make the city feel more alive. I want more traffic and pedestrians to battle with! :P

All I care about is the story and game play. B1tching about the graphic in a game is like saying b1tching about the font in a book.

That review above revealed a lot about GTA V that the screenshots won't. The two reviewers seem really impressed with the vastness of the map and it seems like the game is graphically an improvement on IV.

Them screen shots look pretty good to me...Scuba in GTA :D

You see, all these new aircraft and mini subs get me all excited :o

Some say the graphics could be better but in fairness if R* can incorporate all the fancy vehicles and such an ability to free roam eg Scuba, well I can live with the graphics not being 110%.

We all have been waiting for a game that has what GTA 5 will/may have!

The cars-bikes-heli's-planes-subs etc. and the freedom to go and do whatever you like. The graphics will be better than the previous titles and the gameplay I'm sure will top San Andreas!

So before we start giving out that we cant see the smallest detail "because lets face it when your playing your not glued into every part of each character and scenery to see if there's minute flaws" can we not be grateful for the game-play we are receiving

    Amen

All I hope they change from the last game is cars ramming you from behind when stopped at lights, and that cars will actually move out of the way when you have the siren and lights on.

If they used at least 4x anti aliasing it would make the graphics much better and remove the jaggies that were all over the place in gta4

    YES!

When I was doing Stevie's car thefts, I would take the car to the Pay'N'Spray in Northwood before dropping it off to him in Bohan. I lost count of the number of times that I'd pull up behind cars stopped at the lights on that bridge only to have some douchebag in a taxi smash into the back of my 100k sports car.

I'd rather have playable framerates, it looks better than gta IV so I'm happy enough

I haven't got an xbox 360 so it looks like i will be putting a fiver away a week till it's release and will purchase the console and the game :D it's supposed to be a lot larger than san andreas as well so it should be one spectacular game. Will be looking forward to this release indeed. Make that €10 a week.

Or worse when you are going over the bridge from Algonquin to Dukes and cars start weaving in and out randomly.

especially when you cutting the lanes at full speed on a bike. Died more times from that than bullets.
The new screen shots are something else. It just shows the scope of the game. From diving underwater to doing drive by. From inner city LS to the middle of nowhere. Can't wait of the 17/09/2013

So do we reckon it will actually be released in September or is here still a good possibility of it being pushed back further?

I doubt they'd push it back again. It'd piss off too many customers, retailers & shareholders if they did

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Jester252

I doubt it given the marketing push R* started this month.

I always wondered was this as designed or was there a logic issue where cars were trying to simply get to the top of the queue and couldnt factor in your presence.

Not to sound too negative but I never trust early screen shots and clips. They have a tendency to make them look far sharper than what the game looks like on release. I think (for me anyway) GTA4 was a prime example of this.

That trailer looks the same as the game play imo.

May be its my TV. I am thinking of getting a nice sexy new one for GTAV and the PS4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 933 ✭✭✭Furp

I have watched the trailers a good few times on my phone and tablet, and they look great when watched on these devices, however I watched them on my TV last night and you can see as expected plenty of jaggies. However the graphics still look great for them being able to stream a whole world to this level of detail. I think the lighting looks much more real than previous GTAs and if you can get lighting right in computer graphics this makes up for a lot of deficiencies in texture and geometry.

As for the screenshots they will always be post processed and generated with high antialiasing to make them look better.

I'm really not fussed about the graphics. San Andreas was a noticable step-backwards graphically from Vice City but they did it so that they could push the PS2 to its limits and squeeze more into the game. If they do the same with GTAV then I'm more than happy with that personally.

But then I thought IV was stunning. I don't pause the game and study every pixel. Playing it live it looked incredible IMO.
