For anyone using the box, how is the Epg and channel numbering? Is it same as current boxes e.g. HD and SD channels all jumbled up

The same, the two differences I've seen is that the analogue versions of Tg4 and the History channel have been replaced by their HD versions and that happened after the software update the other day.

    Cheers for that.

Probably the most annoying thing for me in terms of how they have structured their EPG tbh especially as I recently switched from sky hd, which had all HD channels swapped in

Getting the Horizon trial installed on tuesday but i really dont want to have to set up all my devices and localhost again.

Wondering if this might be possible

    Current router default gateway 192.168.1.1/24

Could i get the Horizon box set up as 192.168.2.1/24 so that it will still function as a second access point but wont affect my current set up.

Also not sure if i could sumarise the routes so they can communicate with each other ie change the masks to /22 so they are on the same network.

    Ideas anyone?

I don't know, as I don't yet have the Horizon box. or watch the programme on the iOS device (if it's one of the current 45 channels being streamed)

No that is not the way it works. There are 2 options.

iOS device where you do not have a horizon box and stream direct from the internet. Then only 45 channels possible and

iOS device where you have a horizon box and stream from the box to the iOS device. In that case all channels are available not the limited number, and you can also access recordings from the box etc.

In terms of multiroom boxes, the current setup keeps your old multiroom boxes. These cannot access any horizon content.

There was talk of a special horizon multiroom box that would connect via wifi or ethernet to the main box. There is no specific box yet, but iOS devices would work like a multiroom box. Possibly an apple TV or similar type box could connect to a TV and give a horizon multiroom box type features allowing watching of live TV and recordings from the main box on TVs in other rooms. I would like to see what could be done for multiroom before comitting to the system. Has anyone got this type setup working on a TV in another room?

Not possible, you use your current setup or use the horizon box, you can't have both at the
    same time.
If you go with the horizon box your router will be next to useless even your phone will have to
be connected to the horizon box.

AFAIKThe IOS and Webpage Apps are completely independent of the box. The Horizon Box act's as as a DLNA Client, Not a server. You will not be able to stream your recordings to any IOS, Android or Web enabled device.

In fact the only thing the IOS app and website share with the horizon box is a name.

The horizon box can be setup in client mode and take DHCP from your current router. You should be able to assign what IP range and subnet the DHCP server functionality assigns to the horizon box (and everything else on the network, usually you keep X number of addresses for static assignment and anything above that for DHCP assignment). I'd be very surprised if you couldn't assign a fixed LAN address to the Horizon box but if noCan your current router assign a fixed IP based on the MAC address of the Device connecting to it?

Also I'm not sure if you have to connect your phone to the horizon box if its in client mode and you have kept your existing UPC router

The trial is closed for now, only those that have already applied and been accepted will be trialing the service for the next few months.

Again you can only have it installed if you've already been accepted into the trial. If you call that number they'll just tell you that you're not in the trial and to wait for the public launch.

Sure is have to say it was all done under 5 minutes on the phone. So I now have all the channels except sports and movies get that of the sister account on the Xbox from sky. He updated me to 150mb think I was getting that free this month anyway and gave me the 100 free minutes.
I also have multi room and this all comes in at 94 a month.

Not AFAIK, it's still using the same upc tech, its just a vastly improved box and interface.

I fail to see how this disagrees with anything you just quoted of me.

As of now... No you can not. Unfortunately, as noted, they are not linked. I to believed they were meant to be, but that may come!

so I had mine installed this morning. Wife was there for it. Installation took roughly an hour as it was the first time the guy had installed this type of box. Got the new remote with the keyboard on the back. Will have to wait until this evening when I get home from work to have a play around with it.
