Folks, I just want to remind you all that accusations of criminal activity are not permitted on this site without proof (and even then you're better off going to the guards). The victim here appears to be widely despised, but that's not going to help Boards if he decides to sue for slander (or libel. Whichever the written one is). If you want to comment on proven crimes, then that's fine. Just make sure you're not letting vitriol get in the way of facts.

It is not an accusation it is proven fact in a court of law.
The guy was found guilty of theft and forgery.

Lets see him sue for that or is the Irish Times not good enough ?

    http://www.irishtimes.com/news/former-ff-councillor-sentenced-1.750935
A former general election running mate of Brian Cowen has been given a three-year suspended sentence for stealing from the court official assigned to manage his bankruptcy.

At Mullingar Circuit Court, Judge Anthony Hunt also ordered that Gerard Killally (42), with an address at Shaen, Edenderry, should complete 240 hours community service for forging documents in an effort to hide the thefts, which occurred in 2010 and 2011.

Judge Hunt said it was important that the former cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, who was in custody for almost two weeks, had seen the inside of prison.

He had sought and held public office and because of his political background, he should have known better, Judge Hunt said.

Killally should also have known the importance of upholding the integrity of the bankruptcy process, he said, adding that he wanted the father of four to have a full insight into the consequences of what he had done.

Killally’s counsel Stephen Byrne, BL, said his client found the experience “horrible.”

Killally admitted earlier this month to stealing €18,000 worth of equipment from a shop he used to own in Rochfortbridge, Westmeath, but which became property of official assignee Christopher Lehane when Killally was declared bankrupt.

Killally also admitted forging a letter and business card which he faxed to Mr Lehane, alleging that the stolen equipment had been repossessed by the leasing company he’d bought it through...
    ...
Judge Hunt imposed a three year sentence for the theft offences, which he suspended for three years, and Killally will complete 240 hours community service for the fraud offence.

I've no idea where. What was the deal with the cash in the boot?????? I thought he was "bankrupt"? Although I do see a lot of "Bankrupts" driving around in Range Rovers. There must be different levels of bankruptcy for rich people.

The cash was to be used to pay some bills in his new business venture ..............This is Ireland , you just go bankrupt and then you re-emerge some months later with a new business identity .

    Happens all the time

I don't mean to sound patronising, but the word "bankrupt" comes from the old:
Welsh word "bank", meaning "money hold(er)" or more literally "Safe house for holding valuables"
and the Danish word, "Rupt" meaning "Not enough room".
    - It's where we get the words Rupture and rupturable from. -Also meaning "burst apart at the seams"

So, when somebody becomes Bankrupt, it means literally, that they have too much money in their bank or safe, and it bursts open.

Therefore, they have to spend the money to bring it (the bulge) down some. They usually buy expensive items, like cars or houses, as that way it's all held in one or two places, as opposed to twenty or thirty.

Their bank account is no longer ruptured, and can be sealed again, leaving the owner with less cash but more (expensive) belongings.

    Hope that helped.

    ........
.. If any of that is true I may go into business myself, and aspire to be bankrupt.

There's a rumour doing the rounds that the bould Ger has a nice little sinecure with NAMA.
Everyone I meet believes it to be true but I can't get any confirmation.
    Anyone ?

It's funny that before I moved to Ireland in 2005 everyone in the wife's family was telling me how corrupt Ireland was. I just laughed it off as just the usual politician bashing talk.

I always associated the word corruption with South and Central America.

    Man, was I wrong.

How many poor kids lifes have been endangered by him and his corrupt ilk.

Come on now, you couldn't wish for such a thing, his kids were in the car with him. He's a politician not a Mafia member.

He's a convicted fraud and obviously upset somebody with his shady, property mafia dealings.

Obviously don't wish harm upon his children, but how much harm has been forced upon innocent, impoverished children nationwide thanks to him and his corrupt mates trying to earn a fast buck.

    No sympathy.

I'm sure he has armed Gardai at his beck and call now courtesy of his friend Cowen.

    One law for the rich.

It costs €16k a month to run my home
Ger Killally sobbed in court yesterday as he told the judge that he needs €4k a week to meet his household expenses, which include €1,500 a month for electricity costs and €42k a year for health and life insurance policies for him and his wife Naomi. The outgoings for his 9 bedroom Edenderry home, pitcured, amounted to some €384k for the year

Some nice vehicles in that driveway
He's living like a Fúckin lord while others are being evicted by the same banks that allow him stay in his super-mansion. most people could survive for a month on a quarter of his weekly household expenses!

that anyone would 'use' their children for such a stunt is beneath contempt.
It seems there is no evidence of any shots having been fired. What is this guy up to now?
He's probably thinking now that they will all have whiplash and will need to make big claims, also it will probably mean he is unable to do any work like community service.
Come on now, you couldn't wish for such a thing, his kids were in the car with him. He's a politician not a Mafia member.
Is there a difference in Offally?

You can't propose killing these guys as a solution, isn't there a difference between the law and a gangster? We sort our problems out through the courts, (legal and controlled means) they do it from the barrel of a gun.

This chomp should've been evicted years ago and told to rent a 3 bed semi or join the housing list.
House should've been sold and the profits used to partly pay back those he owned.
    He owes millions ffs.
Seriously, this is a slap in the face to the Govt preaching to the serfs about the necessity of austerity and tightening our belts.
New laws should be made to prevent drug dealers, criminals and bankrupt developers/politicians from diverting their ill-gotten profits into their wives names.
Wives should be made to justify and prove where their new-found riches came from...in all cases.

I had some small dealings with this gob****e a few years ago, was interested in buying a house off a friend of mine who had it up through Killalys auctioneers. My friend rang him to tell him I was interested and he told him he'd have to pay for the signs, advertising etc, fair enough. Then he rang me and said under the law he was entitled to an 'introductory fee' ! I told him to "f##k off" and get his lawyers to contact mine which of course he never did.

Talking to people around here he did it all the time threatening people with solicitors letters if they didn't pay this double charge and some gullible enough to believe in the local councillor paid up so as not to get on the wrong side of him.

Pity the gunman missed the man has destroyed countless people through sheer greed and deserves everything he gets.

( for clarity anyone shooting at a car with Kids and an innocent pensioner in it is as big a scumbag as the intended victim)

I would love to see how charitable you would be if he owed you thousands upon thousands of euro.

Would you be so kind if your children were looking down the road of having no home because everything you had is sitting in a scumbags mattress to buy Posh fancy items and bring his kids on fancy holidays (while being bankrupt)

There is no slander here because i won my court case but because Killally had filed for bankruptsy during my case "NOBODY" had any money to Give me my money back.

So may him and everyone who stands beside and pitys the c**t rot.

I understand you made a lot of money in England but you must have been seriously under some trance to give out such a sum,I wouldnt give it to my brother never mind a FF counciller and which another one of his FF kind in Donegal is up for trying to extort money from a vet in the same week.
