Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why are you recording tonnage Ed?

    Slowly slowly!

I just want to track it so that I can make sure it's increasing over the next while. I don't really do a lot compared to a "general" trainee, and seem to make less progress, so I'm hoping that slowly increasing overall volume leads to some gainnnzzzzz.
Also, I was thinking of doing a general preparation phase at some point and if I have an idea of the tonnage I was lifting prior, I won't do something retarded like quadruple it immediately when I add a load of exercises and wonder why I can't get up in the morning!
In reality, I'm probably not good enough to need to bother tracking these things but it might be interesting.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on with it. Are you only counting certain percentages like 70+ or 80+ or counting everything you do?

I'm only counting about 75% and up, I can't really call anything below that work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    Snatch:
    2x65
    1x70
    1x75
    80x5x2
    **** it
80x3 (think this equals a pb of some sort)

    1315kg total

    1 power clean +3fs 80kg
    1 power clean +5fs 85kgx5 sets, (Didn't bother with a rack)
    2365kg + 510kg

    Smug: 1825kg
    Strempf: 2365kg

    Total: 4190kg

I was tired after that. I had planned on buggering off for 20mins for a snooze and coming back to do singles until I ended up in a wheelchair but felt kinda drained. It'll be difficult to add weight next week because 80x3 was a kind of short term goal but I'll try to crack 82kg next week. Squats were a lot more difficult after power cleaning them up. zzz

Snatch 12 singles at 70kg (one on the minute for 12 minutes). Snatch on bosu ball :p

    840kg total

Wasn't in good form for this session, was tired and dizzy.

    Clean and jerk
    80x2
    85x1
    90x6x2
went for a seventh set, second jerk was out front so I began walking, ended up off the platform but had nowhere to drop the bar because the other platform had a bar on it that I didn't want to break, so ended up walking over the end of the platform. Eventually the thing ended up in a plate rack. Gymfreak had fortunately vacated the platform at the time! There was one witness. Silly Ed.
    1415kg

    Front
    80x3,
    90x3
    95x3
    98x3
    100x3

    1386kg

Last rep was ugly as sin. Mao was spinning in his grave!

    Smugness:1415kg
    Strongness: 1386kg

    total: 2801kg

Forgot trap bar deads. Durn. My jerk is still crap.

    Snatch:
    60x2
    65x1
    70x1
    75x1
    80x1
    82.5x5x2

    1115kg

    Front:
    80x2
    87.5x5x5
    2222.5

    Total: 3337.5kg

    Last set of snatches:

started slowing the first phase a little to stay reasonably in line but I'm coming back over it a bit as it leaves the floor. Dunno when the you-tubez willbe finished editing it.

Yearp, I had it sitting on the computer for ages and never bothered with it. I wanted to have a look at some new voodoo I've been trying.

The latest version can show you bar speed and distance travelled, you calibrate a line to 45mm (your plate diameter) and it calculates from there. It does a load of other stuff too, like tracking angles. I'm too **** to bother with that, I just want to see how much I loop the bar.

Fell off the Universe a bit with training. Bad Ed.
    Today:
    Knackered

    Clean adn jerk
    80x1
    85x1
    90x1
    92.5x2x1. Balls
    85x1
    90x1
    1x2x92.5. Unholy level of ugliness
    85x5x2
    90x1
    **** that.
    1739.75kg of horror

    Frontal
    3x85
    3x90
    3x95
    3x97.5
    1x100
    2x100
    2x100 (failed third)

    1602.25kg

    Total: 3342kg

Rotten session, kept getting some weird kink thing on the clean where I'd collapse forward a bit, this made the recovery tough, then the jerks were awful. Front squats were basically a bucket full of abortions, I should've called it at the first set, lucky I managed not to blow something out (touch wood).

Next week's training is going be interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

I'm not sure how this went, something like this:

    clean and squat jerk:

singles up to 65, lost one behind, damn. Caught one of them funny and it felt like me scap was going to tear off my back. Better leave it there then.

    clean and jerk proper
    75-80-85-90-95-97.5-100(f clean)
    522.5kg

Jerks started to come good. I felt like crap so don't mind hitting over 95% in those circumstances

    Frontal: 5x5x90
    2250kg

    total: 2772.5kg

Fronts were pretty good, I had to force everything a bit again today but managed to get through it anyway. I think I might change some stuff next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Cycled a million billion kilometers to the gymnatorium today, took it easy, didn't help. Forgot my weightlifting shoes so warmed up in cycling shoes because I'd nothing better to do, hit 70 for a double, missed 75. Woman then arrived with the shoes, forgot how to snatch for a while, eventually worked up to 84 for a single but it was definitely a max for today.

    Frontal Squats, singles: 90-95-100-105-105

GHR, 2x10, the stupid thing felt like it was foam rolling my quads (such as they are)

Tonz: about 50ml of tears and shame :'( :P

If I have to cycle to training again I'm gonna eat a load of the evil carbs after getting off the bike.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Did the DCU open, wasn't sure even this morning if I was gonna lift. Managed not to warm up too fast, which was good. Didn't miss any in the warmup and went as far as 78. Opened with 82 but missed it because something weird happened with my foot, nailed the second attempt and finished with 87

Clean and jerk wasn't 100% in the warmup, Jerk was a bit ponderous. Warmed up to 92, opened with 95, easy (new Eleiko bar on the platform :D), hit 99 without any major hassle too and called 103. Clean was tough (throat hurts from growling it up), jerk was nasty (and a little bit pressed but I'm not giving it back!) but **** it, 1kg PB on the C&J, 190 total, which equals previous comp total PB. Pretty happy. Onward!

    Right,
snatched up to 84, missed 88 behind and left it,

    Snatch+OHS:
    80x1
    70x(1+2)x2x1
    70x(1+1)x1x3

    Squat of the frontal persuasion:
    5x5x92kg
I was like a kid who didn't want to do his chores with these.

    saturday's final attempts:
    87 snatch:

    103 clean and jerk:

Did all that elite scapular stuff (pull, push, inverted row, serratus shrug things), rolled a bunch of things (IT band mostly, managed to release most of it, stretched some things. Pressed 40 for 12, did some snatches on a bosu ball (In fairness, the session was going that way).
I still need to sort out a program for the seniors. Previous programs have had a million different corrective things but I usually get bored and do doubles and squat. Think I might outsource it so I'm accountable to someone else!

Got about fifteen seconds sleep last night. Clean and jerked 95 I think, planned to do a load of singles with it but nothing worked right. dropped down and back up but the jerk was still deserting me, I actually missed an 85 and pressed an 80. Durn.

    Frontal:
    5x5x94
not too bad, aside from the usual whingeing. guess the strength is ok today but the part of my brain responsible for coordination is bolloxed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    Gone off the boil!

snatched 84 for a single and a pile of singles at 80

Front squatted 95 for a triple and a few singles at 100.

    more training, food, sleep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    hm
Clean and jerk: went back to 80kg and did 5 doubles
singles at 84-88-92-96, I get a lot slower and less snappy with these and that's around the range I was practicing over the last couple of months.

    Front squat 5x5x96kg

Hard, that's the most I've done for five on front squats though. Last rep looked like an aborted wildebeast. Rocky gave out to me for being lazy, that was good for a few reps I reckon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Trainink in gcg, I I like it:

snatch 5 doubles at 72, singles at 76, 80, 84, 87, clarked first 90 left two out front. Feck it.

3 doubles with 80 on cj, fs 3x80,85,90,95, 1x97.5, weird.

Kev made me do deficit deads. They made me sad. I am weak.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Clean and jerked a bunch of doubles at 80
    singles at 84-88-92-96(press)

    Front squat, 98kg
    4-5-5-4-2
    I am a wuss, a dizzy one.

Ridiculous deficit halting snatch deadlifts (RDHSD):
    5x5x75kg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    Ich Lifte (kinda).
Did some rolling because my jurassic brobility seems to be going a bit (lazy man slouch)

    Snatch: 5 doubles at 75, singles: 77.5, 80, 82.5, 85, 87.5 (Phail)
    Frontal: singles: 87, 95, 100, 102.5, 105, 110, 112.5 (I had a psychology and faileded)
deficit snatch things from an almighty height: 5x5x75kg
    Snatch-grip rows 55kg
    horizontal non-elite-insect cable row: 45kg I think
    Planks:
    +woman: 30s
    unweighted: 2x30s
Wasn't arsed using weights so I summoned a nearby female

The snatch singles were just kinda "have a go till you miss something but don't get too wound up". Fronts were strong (although me tracksuit was tight enough so I'm, like, a total gear whore.

I should probably get a job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Just clean and jerked today, 5 doubles 80, singles 85-90-95-100(failed jerk)
wider grip on jerk, dropping elbows and rotating shoulders around. Feels a lot less haphazard than what I had been doing lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    Felt ok today.
    frontal: singles: 60-80-90-100-105
    all very fast and easy

    Edit: 105:

    PC+PJ:
new hand position, some singles at 75kg

did some scap pullups and made a nuisance of myself for a while.

    Pressed 45 for 10

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Pressed yesterday, did fives to 50, back to 40 and back up to 47.5, singled up to 57.5 :(

    Today: front: 100x4 :( 80x3x5, 85x5 90x5

was a bit ambitious in thinkin I'd get 5x5 at 100

    Snatch: just went to 75.

snatch DL from almighty height: 5x5x80

Right, gonna reset front squat fives, continue doing singles around the 100kg region, continue with deficit pulls, add in some clean pulls from a deficit, change some things with the jerk*

*I'm not going to do any of these.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

trained on monday but forgot to log it.
clean and jerked a bunch of doubles at 82, front squatted a few fives at 85

    Today:
    snatched 74 for 5 or 6 doubles
did singles at 79. 82, 85, missed 88, landed it the second time but felt my shoulder beginning to separate itself from my carcass so dropped it behind. Doesn't seem to hurt but that felt like something a shoulder should not do

    Fronts: only singles... 85-90-95-100-104-100

Stupid deficit snatch deadlifts: 80 again for 5x5, still trying to hold position

    horizontal row: 3x12x 45 or 50, I dunno.

an undisclosed quantity of double cheeseburgers/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Arse, I forget if I trained on friday. Shoulder has some tenderness but not a "surgery" type of tenderness.

New program (read: an actual program)

It's just for keeping position for the pull and then implementing it with the snatch in the same set.
I dunno if it works, someone smarter and stronger than me wrote the program and I'm just following it! :D.
