    Damage assessment:

    Clean and jerk: 2 singles at 95, fairly ok but I failed another 3 attempts. I think it's still a "don't do it for a bunch of singles" weight. Man learn.
    went back and failed 90, then got it.

    Squat from the back:

    4x6x105, moar misery. last set looked like a pair of wildebeest mating with a blobfish (I looked up "ugly creatures" on that internet)

    think I'll leave two days before squatting again.

    afternoon:
    had to brobilise my shoulders. The training effect from this caused me to be heavily fatigued for snatches :P

    snatch: 80,missed 85 a few times, 80, 83, missed 86 a billion times. Sulked. rack jerked 95, missed 90 a few times, sulked, went back to 60 and 70 to do some target practice, ate 1lb burger.

    Gonna start posting anonymously if I keep having sessions like that!

    Erm, to elaborate:
    decided not to take Cork too seriously as being sent away screwed training for a good two weeks, helped out with some loading and reffin' on the saturday and may have enjoyed meself at the Banquet! Anyway, decided to open with 90 on the snatch so that I'd either have a good or bad day (wasn't particularly interested in doing 90%). Warmed up to a fairly shaky 87.5kg. Didn't seem to have any aggression on the platform, kept missing the final "pop". Lost all three attempts just out front, very close though. Went to take it in the warmup room to exact vengeance and threw it behind. D'oh!

    Clean and jerk: nailed 100, cleaned 103 twice but missed the jerks. Took a good 5 seconds to recover from the final clean! 103 is a clean PB anyway.

    **** it. 4 weeks till the NI open, back training today

    Snatch: 2 successful at 83kg, 5 at 80. Missed a good few. I think this is where I'm supposed to blame the CNS. Very sluggish, no finish.

    Back squat:
    3x75
    3x90
    3x100
    3x110
    3x115

    Front squat into paused jerk: bunch at 60kg

    Tired but have to get a move on.

    Ed's firstest ever squad session. Swanned around on the saturday, lifted on the sunday.

    Started with power snatches, President Harold told me to widen the grip out by over an inch, stop yankin it from the floor and to start lower. Helped a lot!

    9kg power snatch pb. Excerlent!

    Front squats then, supposed to be up to 90% but I went up until 100kg

    Snatchin' then. Was all over the shop, got to 80, missed a bunch at 83, then 85. Went back to 75 to sort some stuff out. Had a few things to think about so the weights were lower. Again:
    -Wider grip
    -Less yankin'
    -stop pulling back
    -control it from the first two inches off the floor
    -Lower hips at the start
    -shoulders further back at the start
    -More aggressive shrug up on receiving the bar (I'm very lazy)

    Gonna try to make sure I do that on every rep and have less "hail Mary" moments. Will have to use lower weights and try to make every lift. Also Kev did a lot of activation stuff on the shoulders in the warmup and Dee sorted out hip activation stuff that I'm usually too lazy to do. Shoulder stuff helped a lot with the wider grip (usually less stable out wide), hip stuff helped off the floor.

    I also need to get back working the supporting musculature of the upper and mid-back, I hadn't bothered with this since the shoulder cleared up a few months back.

    Clean and jerk: jerk is still the problem. I was all knees and no hips. went to 91, came back down to 70 and worked back up to 89 for some singles. Trying to get the same hip-snap as the snatch and lower the elbows a bit before takeoff. It works well but feels strange! Good stuff though although I'll have to think about a lot when lifting over the next while until the new stuff becomes second nature. Very useful session though, thanks to Wayne for organisation and all coaches.

    95: 5 doubles
    5 fast singles 70
    snatch pulls: 70kg, 5s pause 1 inch off floor
    5 singles. New grip
    Glenular row 5x5 at 50
    Bench 15s 10-10-15

    jerks were fairly good, I think I stopped doing them right at rep seven though. 104 was close to 1rm for the day, doubles weren't too pretty but got 'em done
    snatch thingamabobs felt okay. Need to train the brain.
    Other stuff was just wasting some energy and I'd nothing else to do.

    Snatch: lots. goddamn unstable with the new grip,still trying to grow into the slower start, still having trouble pushing up. work consisted of 6 singles at 80. A load of other things happened around this. A lot of it involved missing, confusion, swearing and stubbornness!

    Frontal squat: doubles to 90, single at 95, 3 singles 100, double 95, 90x5
    went a bit wider on Harry's suggestion. Still ugly.

    went back to 70 to practice jumping wider on the clean. Nope.

    Muzkill snatch: 5x5x45

    Deficit snatch pull with a 5s pause at where the floor usually is (DSPW5SPAWFUI):
    5 singles 70kg

    Inverted rows: probably 3x8, I'll do them when I can get off the couch
    Hip stuff: see above

    Good session. Ate a pile of cake and had some coffee an hour or so before training. Might have to try that again.

    just messed about today

    step ups: 5s a side with a pair of 10kg
    Single leg DL: 10s with 10kg
    mixed with ascending weight Grumpy powerlifter squats (in flat soles): up to 125kg. Joke weight. These make far better use of me leverages than the commie squats

    Did ab things then, Planks and pilates-voodoo things.

    Snatches:
    82 for about 8 singles. Missed a few and almost exploded once but it's coming together slightly. Took a long time to feel out the warmup.

    Back squats, triples to 115, single at 120: got the second one, gave up on the first

    Rack jerk doubles: 70-75-80-85-90-95(f second)-95(nailed both)
    caught the 95 very badly after the first rep of the first set, felt some very bad hyperextension. Will see how that goes in the morning. Squats were back to the usual style as goatee-squats wouldn't go down well!

    Hm, Fellin' stale today

    CLean and jerk: wobbly 95, back to 80, up to a better looking 95, did some work around 75 then, a few singles.
    Front squat: 5 singles 100kg,
    deficit paused pull things: 75kg, 5 singles.

    No pop from the hips. Wednesday might have something to do with it.

    snatch on the minute for 30 mins with 70kg. Weight was light enough to allow me to focus on positions and not revert to instinct. Did some goatee squats then although they felt weird today.

    snatch: a load of singles at 75kg, I think it was 7 or 8. growing into it still
    Goatee squats: think I went to 115 and stopped because shoulder started exploding
    squats: 100-105-110-115-120-125: 1-1-F 115x2x2
    think that's about it.

    Decided to be conservative enough with openers

    Most I've snatched with the new technique. Missed 90 behind.

    Clean and jerk:
    96-100-104(x)

    knee wraps pitched me forward on the cleans, they felt awful! jerks weren't too bad. 104 was close, nearly killed the centre ref during me post-missing diva-fit.

    Not too bad, at least I totalled! Didn't bother doing the powerlifting, I hadn't trained for it.
