Lennon has bought into the philosphy of buying cheap and selling developed talent..
Has he? The only "developed talent" we might be selling is Hooper & Wanyama and he's already stated he doesn't want to sell either, so it's more a case of buying players that are too good for the league.

Bringing this post back on-topic though, can you imagine if The Rangers hadn't had Green this season? If it had been just a normal guy who kept quiet a la Desmond? It would have been such a quiet season for them and the main focus would have been on all the dropped points and poor performances. Green may have been a bit of a laughing stock but he did a good job of keeping the club in the news.

Editted that part, should read "with Lennon he has..."

Yes, Lawwell has implemented that philosphy correctly at Celtic, it was brought in with Mowbray i.e. shifting of high earners off the wage bill but under him there was alot alot of duds on top of the manager not being able to train the players properly and achieve the required results so it was hard to see it under his reign. I suppose thats how it looks when you dont do well!

McGeady & Ki have been sold under Lennon to sustain player investment

What did you get banned for?? I quite enjoyed that weekebd every game i watched went the way i wanted of course i gave the bookies a miss.. who is that mather guy anyway?

Courtesy of a Celtic fan who persisted that we're all fascists and racists, I told him what I thought of him and that wasn't appreciated by the mods.

    As for Craig Mather:
Craig Mather runs Simply Sport Management based in the Midlands.

Mather, 43, has interests in horse racing and runs a manufacturing and packaging company with a £17million turnover.

He is a former semi-pro footballer who played in the US A League.

SSM have footballers and cricketers on their books.

Mather bought 10 per cent of Rangers in July of 2012 for £1million with a remit to assist with youth development.

In October, he was appointed director of sports development with a special remit to develop young players at Murray Park.

He said his investment in Rangers was emotional.

He said last year: “I met Charles Green a while ago and we have a few common contacts.

“He put the idea to me and I’ve always been a lover of football.

“I’ve been to a number of the Old Firm clashes and I remember as a younger boy and having goosebumps listening to the roar.

“That was how it started. I had various meetings with Charles and the team and had a look at the facilities at Murray Park – and it went from there.

“I also have a a sport-based company, Simply Sport Management who are purely youth-based talent development.

“My forte and future role with Rangers will be based on the youth development side so, spending more time at Murray Park rather than the Ibrox side of the business.

“From discussions we’ve had to date, there is an intent for me to have a seat on the footballing board, looking at that side of things. ”

Also on the board of SSM are Mather’s long-term business partner Guy Gisborne and Mick Elliott, a former footballer who spent more than 30 years in the forces as a communications specialist and intelligence officer.

Mather also runs a horseracing business which is helped by former associates of Sheikh Mohammed, who owns the Godolphin stable.

Sounds like a glorified agent to me, another one who probably hasn't got a clue how to run a proper football club.
Luckily it seems he's only in it as an interim CEO.

Rangers have released the following (tiny) statement as well:
Rangers International Football Club plc (“Rangers”) has instructed the law firm Pinsent Masons, supported by forensic investigators from Deloitte, to investigate the connections between Craig Whyte and former and current personnel of Rangers and its subsidiaries.

Forensic investigators ffs, is this CSI ?

    'Enhance!'

edit: Lonesome, the irony of your post is brilliant.
Pointing out some of the things Green said, while making mistakes yourself.

The Westfalenstadion has never been renamed has it ?

As for the rest, I don't want to be banned but you're obviously only here to stir up ****.

A fancy way of putting they are investigating fraud and considering the way Whyte, D&P & Green have gone about their business, I think it will be welcome.

Oh, most definitely, they're supposed to be a famous firm in this kind of matter so you never know what they might come up with.

A chance to sink the reputation of a rival firm being a bonus :pac:

I actually said you have a large element in your support who are racist/fascist. You sing the famine song and the billy boys en masse and expect us to sit and ignore it? Even with the nazi salutes it doesn't seem like a minority to me.

The famine song has not been sung for a long time nor has TBB unless you count those teenagers at Beriwick. You forget if we watch one of your away games we have to listen to singing in support of a terrorist organisation and don't say it's about 1916 I have enough tic supporters as family to know that's bollox

Why do people even respond to Boatman ffs. Ignore him and his boring, judgemental, sweeping comments.

    Here we go again.

Maybe Boatman hasn't noticed that everyone else, including the other Celtic fans in this thread, are actually attempting a discussion - not simply chucking innane accusations around.

As for the Rangers Boardroom - all I can do right now is raise my hands up and admit it looks like I got it wrong with Green.
Wether he was involved with whyte deliberately, i don't know - but whatever the situation, it looks like he has seriously ****ed up.

But the fact remains it has been sung a lot, and for a long time. That's probably what he's referring to.

They should invent a term like "Godwins Law" to describe the phenomenon of Rangers fans having to talk about tims singing rebel songs every time TFS/TBB is mentioned, and vice versa.

Before we get too intimate let me say that implying the two are even on the same level is stupidity of the finest calibre and is counter-intuitive for any Bear trying to cling onto the bad-as-eachother lifeline :P

It would be like Zenit fans justifying their signing policy by pointing out Athletic Bilbao prefer to sign Basques.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Agreed, I for one think Celtic fans are far worse :pac:

Did Charlie Green bring this Mather Guy in in the first place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Who knows, I used to think 'Ah, they were just business acquaintances' but now ?
Not too sure about it, I'd rather we got people in who have absolutely **** all to do with either Green, Whyte or David Murray.

I wonder what punishment awaits Rangers if the independent invesitgation shows that Rangers should have been transferred into Sevco 5088 as the D&P documentation says.

Stories running today about all the breaches to the AIM stock exchange which will send the share price plummeting and probably result in AIM sanctions.

Footballing wise, the SFA havent done anything about Whyte regarding his fine and ban. Kinda wonder if they have any teeth to show to people taking advantage of Scottish Football. Him & Green should be hammered for their deceptions.

    **** the SFA.
Whyte should be facing criminal charges, and if Green is shown to have been deliberately associating with him then the same goes for him.

All the SFA can do is punish the clubs under their rule.
Whyte is quite clearly outwith that rule, and Green won't be far behind the way things are going.

The name IRA wasn't really used until 1919... The Irish Volunteers and the Irish Citizen Army were involved in the Easter rising, not trying to pick an argument... Just clarifying that the IRA didn't fight in 1916.

*** whoa just realised you never even said IRA... Whoops.
