Played this morning, extremely windy, was hitting drives anywhere from 210 yards to 300 yards depending on the wind direction. Thankfully I was tidy around the greens so that helped save a few pars.

So played four rounds last week in the Social Media Open Team Comp, on my own ball I failed to break 100(playing off 24):
    • Day 1 - Mount Juliet - 107strokes or 25pts , 2fw's, 2greens
    • Day 2 - Castlemartyr - 101strokes or 31pts, 5fw's, 2greens
    • Day 3 - Adare - 106strokes or 26pts, 3fw's, 2greens
    • Day 4 - Old Head - 109strokes or 23pts, 5fw's, 1 green
Hard to gauge my own performance during a team event as a couple of times I raced a ball past the hole when trying to hole out for a good score as my partner was already in but definitely feel I struck the ball better in Adare and the Old Head than on either of the first two days!

82 off 13 in youghal intermediate scratch cup this morning. 3 over front 9 but 8 over on the 'easier' back 9

    another bad day. 101.
5 scratches, 4 of them the result of a penalty off the tee. Errant all day, left, right.

    1 FIR
    2 GIR
35 putts, no 3 putts though.

I had struggled up at the range during the week but still the level of disconnect that I had with the swing was awful. No good strikes with the irons at all.

    Medal tomorrow

Had a real rollercoaster round today, when I was good I was on form but my bad holes were a joke
81 gross par 73, but since it was a V par comp I finished +1 , so on the gross I played over my handicap but with the v par played under haha
    10 GIR
    2 FIR
But I had a 7 and two double 6's, I actually could of had a score today:( had 4 penalty drops from hazards from crap driving

    10 pars
    5 bogeys

    playing off 5.

cant wait to get out there tomorrow. Dont care how wet Im gonna get :)

33 off 18 in Tuam. All good bar the putting which was beyond crap.
Very soft conditions. Greens in good shape. Weather perfect.

Had 37 pts off 13 this morning in Grange Castle, was really happy as I've been working on a few changes from a lesson I had a week back, and my bad shots where no where nowhere near as bad as they had been. It's probably my first round in a year that I haven't lost at least one ball, plus given that the green where shocking, they've be hollow tined recently, and I had a lot of missed putts, I think it bodes well for dropping the handicap a few strokes this year.

A real game of two halves today !
Front 9 - 12 points no scratches or no pars !!
    Back 9 - 20 points with 1 scratch.

Played awful stuff and couldn't get into rhythm, driver wasn't working at all.

71 nett which was level today off 9 in the April medal in Grange.
happy with everything bar driving but finished with 3 bogeys which it's annoying.

8/14 FIR which is mad because I thought it was far worse.
6/18 GIR (but I had lies of putts from the fringe)
    31 putts.

Might sneak a cut back to 8 If css goes my way...

Had 40 points yesterday in glorious conditions. Was good enough for 2nd after countback. Also got cut 1.2 so off 13.9 now :)

can I be happy with a round which featured 3 triple bogies and a 5 over?

    97 for a net 77 - 5 over.

The negatives - two of the triples came having hit very good drives and duffing the second into water.
the 5 over. Well the less said. I still wasn't swinging comfortably and my bad shot was getting worse all the while.

The positives - had it of been stableford that would have been my first time in the buffer this year with 34 points, despite 3 scratches.
32 putts, with 2 3 putts. A bit misleading though because I had the putter in hand from the fringe (or a little further) 5 times.
Short game is improving. Be it putter or wedge in hand from off the green I had 6 1 putts.

    3 penalty strokes
    3 FIR
    4 GIR

Played in the comp there yesterday morning too.
    31 points off 17, 94 strokes.
Greens were in bad shape alright, but my own putting let me down.
Happy-ish with the rest of the game. Starting to like my driver for the first time ever.

33pts in Moate this morning off 14 and I was happy enough with my general play. Duffed a couple of chips around the green early on and a couple of greens were missed later when it was definitely easier to hit them. On the plus side my driving was good and my putting was much improved on recent performances.

38 points off 12 in Dublin Mountain's open. Played well, only 81 strokes with 28 putts. Never played the course before wasnt expecting much from the place with some of the rough reviews in another thread but i thought it was a decent enough track. Bunkers were out of play and it was a bit wet in places, but the greens were in good nick.

Have the day off tmoro so playing an open in donabate, hopefully i havent used up all my good shots.

95 gross, 77 nett at the Blainroe intermediate scratch cup today. Driving was crap and struggled to judge the speed of the greens. Enjoyable day out though. SSS was looking like 74 so I should scrape into the buffer zone.

35 points, 88 strokes off 15 at Castle Barna. Went for a lesson during the week. First one in about 2 years, pro completely changed the swing. As expected the round was a real mixed bag, superb shot one minute duffing the next. Saw enough to be happy. First round this year in the buffer zone too.

First .1 of the season. Out to 7.8 now. I've hit a bad patch of form just at the wrong time. But is there ever a good time? I managed to lose 5 shiny proV1's and a total of 24 points.

88 strokes, 32 points in ok conditions on Sunday. Was a bit blustery and a couple of showers.

As has been mentioned above, greens in GC were hollow-tined recently, so were not in great shape (seems a bizarre time to be doing it to me, just over a week before the first medal of the year  ) and still non qualifying conditions out there, which probably suits me as I've been just missing buffers recently!

38 putts, can somewhat blame the greens, but I think its also partly to do with arriving late & not getting a bit of time in on the practice green prior to start.

A couple of sloppy shots, but generally speaking tee to green was happy enough with my game. Don't feel like I'm playing great golf (still trying to bed in a couple of slight swing tweaks from lessons), but still managing to score 30+ points most days out at the moment so I'm hoping that bodes well for when things click.

Feel like I'm very close to turning a corner & putting in a couple of very solid scores....gotta stay positive :D

that's some score considering you had 31 putts, I never shot that low below with so many putts
    Did you win ?

77 gross, +6 off 4 around Lucan GC on Sunday.

Breezy conditions but, with the exception of a hailstone shower on the 3rd, it was a very pleasant day. A very high CSS of 74 also afforded me a cut of 0.1, so have managed to claw my way back to 3 handicap for the time being.

But, overall, it was a disappointing day. I had an ideal start with a birdie on the first, and although I three putted the index 18 fourth hole, a nice birdie on 5 and a par at 6 had me at a very comfortable -1 for the day.
Unfortunately, the wheels came off at that point. I three putted 7, and a par 4 at the difficult 8th offered only a momentary respite, as, in an effort to avoid standing on my playing partner's line, I missed a tiddler on 9 to go out in +1, which sounds so much worse than level par. A careless bogey, and it preceded a 3 putt on 10 from 4 feet, which meant a double bogey and +3 for the day from nowhere.

I dropped further shots on 11 and 13, but steadied the ship a little from then on as I parred 14 (career second shot in there :P), 15, 16 and 17, before a poor drive at the last cost me one final shot. 30 putts in total, which doesn't include a further 3 or 4 from off the edge of the green, but it's my chipping that has been and continues to be the main point of concern. I've become very nervous over finesse shots from the greenside of late, and this really reared its ugly head today. A few bad shots caused by hitting off bare lies over the last few months has left me bereft of confidence with the wedge, bordering on the dreaded chip yips, and awful efforts from easy positions on 11, 13 and 18 certainly won't help. Am hoping a little growth over the coming week will mean better lies and better results next weekend!

38 points yesterday in Athlone playing off 5.

Was 1 under for the first 6 holes, 5 pars and a birdie on the index 2 and then went 4 over for the next 6 with some terrible golf. Got my act together thank God though over the last 6 and birdied the last to finish 3 over :)

Only annoying thing is we had placing everywhere and I can't get cut for it :) Hope it changes soon, I want to get down low before my form runs out, lol :)

74 strokes in Carton House on Sunday morning followed by 75 strokes in Lucan in the afternoon. Played ok but was badly let down by six missed putts inside 4 feet over the two rounds.

29 points off 12 in donabate's open yesterday.

I thought it would be hard to replicate sundays good stuff in Dublin Mountain, but after birdie on the 1st i thought i was just carrying on from the previous day. I was wrong.

The dry course conditions were polar opposite to the wet of sunday, with most of my approach shots rolling off the back of the green. I didnt actually play that badly bar a couple of wayward teeshots.

Two things plssed me off though...Some oul lad aggressively telling me he was going to report us for slow play on the 3rd hole angered me, and then as we were teeing off on the yellow 2nd (our 11th) we had said we would let the 2ball behind through after we teed off....i was about to hit the ball and one of them shouted over "yis would wana get a move on lads, this is ridiculous, we are waiting ages".

To say i wasnt pleased would be an understatement.
