Creepy picture of a man on a roof by the marathon:

Looks a lot like a grassy knoll to me.

    Has anyone told CT?

The director of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum says that a 3 p.m. fire inside the building's mechanical room was not caused by a device and is apparently not related to the explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line.

Tom Putnam, the director of the JFK Library, said that the incident was confined to a mechanical room near the archive section of the library.

I never said it wasnt terrorism. I said there are far more nutbags that dont seem to be doing it for any political or religions reasons or affiliated to any such organisations. So I dont understand why everything is assumed to be terrorism.

The fact that they bombed JFK library as well makes it seem like its more organsied than just a random lunatic

Is it always such a good thing to have pictures and footage of these things as they happen? I mean, the intense media coverage of such incidents is part of the reason stuff like this keeps happening. It's giving these loons the attention they crave.
While I agree that I despise the 24 hour news cycle and their sobbing interviews of sandy hook victims, this is not the same thing, we're talking about people on the scene, not reporters with a professional agenda.

Yes, and they are also lucky that they are less than two miles from one of the best hospitals in the United States (Mass General). There is also a firehouse near the finish line.

true but thats a kind of luck I'd rather not have tbh considering the type of luck that has to precede it in order for the availability of emergency services to be lucky

It's early doors but it looks like a lot more people should have died there but somehow didn't.

How do you mean? There were people mere yards from one the explosions who looked to get away lightly, doesn't look like the most powerful bombs ever.

Seems to be bigger than the initial blast all right. The level of planning that goes into something like this is unnerving.

Doctor in attendance interviewed on sky news claimed he was trained to deal with injuries that have been sustained

also said they had set up an emergency response unit to deal with this type of incident 2 years ago ......... with the help of the ISRAELIS

Do you want coverage or not? If you don't, hide till tomorrow and we will edit all the images and video and your blood will have cooled. Most people want to see this as human nature goes.

It's very possible to give coverage without zooming in on the faces of 10 year old girls lying on the ground AND very possible to give coverage without trying to out-do all other news channels with the 'scoop' on numbers of fatalities AND very possible to give coverage without trying to get the 'scoop' on who did it.

But hey that all seems too sensible for the news agencies.

What good does it achieve to be the first to report the fatality level? Not even an hour after the incident? The only one benefitting is the news channel who can then claim the scoop. Self-serving bullsh1t.

The rolling news syndrome is part and parcel of modern media, in much the same way as this thread is. Both partial to speculation, dubious commentary and an incomplete grasp of the facts.

Not a bomb at JFK library, they have tweeted to say it was a fire and made it clear that links to the explosions at the marathon are purely speculation. All staff and visitors accounted for.
