Paid my tax for the year
Spent another few hours with the DA. got the half the bonnet done and im very happy with it, its pretty fun when you start seeing results although the cold weather isnt ideal im sure
fitted the new pdc unit in the boot so just have to get it coded now.

poured the hose on the bonnet after I was done, you'd never guess where I stopped one half almost bone dry 30seconds after it was covered in water, its amazing how sealants and waxes work.

I have a feeling that was a less than observant inspector. crewcabs have to have 45% of the length as cargo area , the pajero even in lwb doesn't meet that, I tried all this in 2008 and couldnt find any 4x4 I could still declare as a crewcab , the rules have got tighter since. July 2003 was the cutoff really , after everyone did it to sedona's and landcruiser amazons.

You have a commercial with rear seats in it

    Related ish...

Friend's 2007 Disco commercial effectively died a few weeks back.
He bought a 131 Disco passenger, classed as a crew cab apparently, enough space behind the back seats.

I reckon they'll hold their value relatively well.

Yeah a few people at work have them, I wasn't sure that you could actually reclass an older jeep under this new system

New European-wide regulations came into effect on January 1st - so that Pajero, and others like it, are now 100% legal ;)

for VRT you cant, its whatever it came out of the factory as, hence the cheaper five seat disco 'commercial'

tax however still follows the older rules , so that 5 seat disco , and I suspect anything except a transit that people want to make crewcabs of will attract the full cc rate. not the commercial 333 rate, thats reserved for crewcab pickups and lwb transists afaik. Now If somebody could prove me wrong Id love to know as Id love an 06+ disco / amazon / pajero crewcab for 333 a year with 5 seats.

The buddies disco is new and taxed at €333/annum.

All I wanted was a factual clarification, have one so well done , I have been proved wrong. Now to go find myself something nice to crewcab

Does that mean that the 30% must be contained within the wheelbase?
or is it just a percentage of the actual dimension?

the latter would be my interpretation anyway.

The latter is my understanding of it too. Which is how there are now older model Pajero's on DoneDeal which are legal, and also the newer Discovery's fall within the N1 classification.

30% of the internal floor of the body, regardless of whether it overhangs or not

The LWB Pajero only has 4cm load-space length to spare. It meets the height and load width requirements with ease though.

Had to get them off the phone...

Decided to finish off the fog surrounds on the car, go for a completely blacked out look and see what it was like, as I was fed up of the vinyl on the rear surrounds and had even considered returning it to stock colours, but thought I'd give this a go first...

Started out with the removal of the vinyl from the rear fog surrounds and then a nice Fairy liquid bath for each part going to be sprayed. Then on to the fun stuff...

Not sure I like the tinted reversing lights - but the other black additions look very well on that ST!

Funnily enough I removed the tinting that was on the front fogs today as well and I quite like them looking back to being standard. I may undo the rears at some point soon enough as well.

    Plastidip :(

I still haven't figured out how to remove grilles yet, last time i tried i broke the locking mechanism with my ape strength :(

It's really not that hard to use. Just thoroughly wash what you're applying it to, heat the canof PlastiDip on a radiator for half an hour before use and ensure you shake it for the full minute they advise. It should spray evenly and leave a good finish then. Otherwise it can spray kind of blotchy and leave a bad finish. :)

The catches on the bottom of the upper grille are the dodgy ones, you need a flat headed screwdriver to release them, just cover the head with a couple of layers if masking tape. There's three lower clips, left, middle and right. When you have the top of the grille loose/released (and you have already released the bonnet lock barrel from being clipped in to the front grille!!!) you should be able to pull it out a bit and look down behind it to see the clip locations. Try and lift the grille slightly, slide screwdriver in and press the handle gently down as you pull that part of the grille towards you (away from the front of the car). It should release. Just do the same for the other two clips.

Be prepared though, the plastic itself is soft and may bend and warp as you try to remove it. Nothing you can do about it unfortunately but the grille will come off eventually. :)
