Carlow it Chat room *OPEN AGAIN* hehe

right so, there has been a carlow IT chat room in quakenet irc network for the past week or two, but no one seems to be using it..perhaps because they don't know how ?

what you do is, download an IRC client ( www.mirc.co.uk), mIRC is one example. it's a handy little client and easy to use.

once it's dl'ed and installed (to the D drive of the machine you are on) open er up and enter the proxy settings.

when you open mirc for the first time a little box will pop up, close it. then the mirc options tab will pop up. enter your name, email addy, nickname and an alternate nickname (in case someone else on the server is using the nickname you originally chose).

in the mirc options tab, the "connect" category should be expanded..select the Firewall menu.

check "use firewall"

Protocool: proxy

hostname: proxy (it's technically proxy.itcarlow.ie but proxy works fine)

port: 8080

you don't need a user ID or password.

hit OK and the type "/server irc.phishy.net"

once you are connected to the server type

/join #carlowit

and boom, there you are in the carlow IT chat room, ready to talk ****e and pretty women.
