Haven't noticed any myself yet but I'm not far in. You should be able to do 16 x anisotropic filtering without losing many frames.

Have you downloaded the latest beta 13.3 drivers?

Ye driver version is 13.3. I dunno I just assumed most stock 608's would be able to max it out and with the overclock I'm pretty close to stock 680's. I do have v-sync on in game to stop screen tearing. The 3570k I have is at stock too. Prob shouldn't make a difference. I'll run it at stock clocks and see what I get.

There were loads of complaints on the green team about it, The Tek were saying it needs a lot of optimization still.

Why haven't you overclocked that 3570k yet? :)

I ran the in game benchmark. Stock Clocks on Ultimate setting (changing nothing) gave me 45 fps. Overclocked on Ultimate 53.9 fps.

I dunno. Never got around to it to begin with and then I was waiting to get a GPU before doing it. To be honest I think it just boiled down to laziness in the end. I should probably get on it.

Anyone else getting stupid frame drops in Tomb Raider? Was playing earlier at a steady 60 fps but it just drops down to around 20 every so often.
    Settings are:
    Texture Quality - Ultra
    Texture Filter - Anisotropic 2x
    Anti Aliasing - off
    Shadows - Normal
    Shadow resolution - normal
    Level of Detail - Ultra
    Hair Quality - TressFX
    Reflections - Normal
    Depth of Field - Ultra
    SSAO - Ultra

    That's with an I5 3570K and an 7950 1175/1500.
Any ideas? Is it just really poorly optimized or?

    Turn off TressFX

I know that it does contribute to low frames but I like the hair way too much.

lads anyone have experience with streaming from router to tablets?

My current asus router is dead easy to stream because it has aicloud but my cousins asus router the RT-N56U doesnt have that and im finding it extremly hard to get streaming going on a tablet.

I download the ASUS AiCloud on the tablet and all it does is download instead of streaming, any advice on what I can do?

    From the product page:
    Multi-Function Twin USB Ports
With effortless connectivity to a range of devices and FTP, SAMBA, UPnP AV server and DLNA standard compatible all supported, sharing and networking become easier than ever. Plus, the RT-N56U can continue downloading FTTP, FTP and BitTorrent file to the USB disk all day even when your PC is turned off. Additionally, the twin USB ports allow the router to offer printer and file server functions, so you enjoy simultaneous wireless printing, scanning and file sharing via the comfort of standardized USB!

Set up the media on a drive, connect to router, tell it to run DLNA, then get a DLNA compatible player for your tablet(presumably android). Smart TVs and all computers will then also be able to stream from the router(bear in mind more than 2 simultaneous users may cause problems, test yourselves to see).

Hardwareversand? They usually reserve stock when you order if it was in stock at that time.

Yep you're right, was shipped or is ready for shipping, was a bit worried I'd be waiting for weeks for it to come back in haha

I'm going for one of these. Zalman K500

Not cherry switches but good copies of cherry reds and you can't beat that price. The numpad pisses me off as well so I'll be glad to get rid of it. What's the keyboard for? Switch type will make a big difference depending on your main uses.

The one above uses cherry blues which are made for typists and are loud as hell even by mechanical standards.

Gaming, only gaming. With gaming on top of it. Add some sprinkles of gaming too! :P
I do play a very wide range of games, Something that is RTS friendly and can be good for fps. I will look in to suggestions.

I dont mind a suggestion of some full size keyboards too, but not the MASSIVE fat bastard ones.

Okay, that Zalmon k500 looks like what i am looking for. Though i never heard of them and are they using cherry keys?

Is there an alternative to it? Similar size and shape. Having no extra plastic around keys is perfect too as thats what i am used to now .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

They aren't cherry keys but good copies of cherry reds which are the ideal keys for gaming. Their durability probably isn't as high but still 20+ million key presses and broken switches can be replaced with cherry reds. I think the only issue with it is the max of 3 key simultaneous presses. Some of the more expensive one's allow 4-5.

3 key rollover is necessary for touch typing all cheap dome keyboards will allow it.
Good quality mechanical keyboards have full n key rollover.

The qpad mk-50 is good. It has mx cherry reds and costs about €65. It's not a compact keyboard though as it has a numberpad

    I have the Cherry g80.

Compared to the ****ty keyboard from the stockpile of fujitsu siemens keyboards we seem to have (after years of buying them for work PCs) it's great.

I found my accuracy using keys improved dramatically and that's hugely important for games like SC2.

Full n-key? I haven't seen a single keyboard that has full n-key rollover. The expensive ones are 5-6 max. In fairness when are you going to be pressing anything more than that.

I assume full is the maximum of all keys?

The qpad has that feature and costs €65 which is cheap enough for a mechanical keyboard many others can do it too.

6 would probably be the most i would need but I'm sure there are some applications where it comes in handy.

It's a shame as I really liked that zalman but 3 key's is too little. There's definitely situations where I would be pressing more than 3.

I was looking at this as well. It has 6 n-key rollover which would be loads but amazon sucks at providing details. There are different switch versions of it and i'd want cherry reds or blacks.

The q-pad looks pretty good as well. Headphone and mic jack + 2 usbs as well. It's just a shame it's so damn big.

    -Edit-
I seen with the cm storm that the 6 n-key roll over limitation can be changed to unlimited by using the provided usb to ps/2 adaptor. Would this be true of all mechanical keyboards? I think I'm sold on the CM Storm anyway. The red switch version comes in black only. The rest come in the nice grey in the review below.

There's a guide to switch types here to help you decide what would suit you.

The qpad mk-85 offers full n key rollover with USB but the cheaper mk-50 only has it over ps/2.
You probably won't get it over usb for under €100
