What to do about baldness?

Right. I'm in my mid twenties and the ol male baldness is setting in a bit earlier than I predicted. My hair has gotten very thin right behind the fringe and I'm now faced with a decision on how to deal with. My initial reaction was to just shave the head with a zero or a bic and buy myself a nice warm hat to get me through the very cold season.

However, I was talking to a friend of mine who is also expecting the baldness in the near future and he says he plans to try and grow out his hair and cover it up for as long as possible, to me that sounds like the fast track to a ridiculous comb-over. Another friend started going on about some cream some guy she knows used and that I should try.

Tbh I'm still favoring my original shaved head look but have decided there is no harm in looking for a few alternate opinions so like any right thinking individual I've come to after hours for advice.

So what say ye? Should I go for

    1. Head Shave

    2. Comb-over

    3. Hair plugs

    4. Hair tonic

    5. Wig

    Poll to follow.

Tattoo loads of small rabbits on your scalp.

From a distance they'll look like hares.

Isn't baldness due to excessive amounts of testosterone? Is there no magic pill that will control the hormones?

I've just seen the best bit of product placement in a while. Clicked on this thread and there's an advertisement for a free hair transplant consultation!

Maybe it's the internet's way of telling me to tell you to go for that option!

Shaving your head or not giving a shit and leaving it bald are the only reasonable solutions to this problem.

Shaved head looks silly for a couple of months until your scalp darkens but it'd be my preference by far.

If you can afford it, get hair plugs. Whatshisface from the north in those Bloody Sunday films has a decent head of hair now.

Otherwise, shave it off or keep it very short.

Easy said, but the bald look doesn't suit all heads.

I also suggested keeping it short, rather than bald.

    Or just wear hats.

Stupid hereditary baldness. I come from a family where myself and my 2 brothers had lost about 80% of our hair by the age of 20. Shaving it off is the only way and hopefully you hdon't have a weirdly shaped head under there.

No way do this, its a bad habit to get into and you can come to rely on them. They won't help you accepting your baldness which in the end is the only way to deal with it.

I'm in the same boat but I read that baldness is caused by too much DHT/testosterone flowing to the scalp.

So no matter how many products you use, you won't see results until you tackle your bodies over production of androgen (it's the 'raw' form of testosterone/ estrogen afaik).

I take a supplement containing SAW PALMETTO (some plant extract) which helps your body to keep normal testosterone levels. My acne has also died down dramatically because when your body has to much testosterone it just flushes it out the pores to get rid of it.

Also consider using Nizoral shampoo (yes that dandruff stuff) since it can also block the androgen getting to the scalp which builds up and causes baldness.

So far these are working for me (5 months in:D) and hair loss has dramatically ceased. I don't know if I'm slowing it down or stopping it completely (since I have very long/thick hair) but I will soon consider some tonics to try regrowth.

Apparently the hair follicle never falls out, but simply shrinks and lays dormant. So bald people still have all their 'hair' roots and don't even know it.

Maybe I've been on the internet to long but I'm wondering if your being sarcastic or not!!!:P

It's no consensus on regrowing hair (most say it's impossible for now) but the normal everyday products I mention have a huge success rate in stopping baldness so start early and hope for the best!!;)

Nope and nope unless you want a chemical sex change. Baldness is mostly due to excessive genetic sensitivity to testosterone, not the level of it. IIRC baldy blokes often have lower test going on. Though I did read somewhere that that's mostly to do with receding hairlines, losing hair/gaining face. Apparently going baldy at the crown and overall is more down to lifestyle choices, stress and diet and fitness. The latter happens to women too, so that might back that up.

If you're a Black bloke then hit the razor. It always suits them. Its a rule. The bastids :D. If you're a White bloke, then it can vary. White blokes often seem to have weird heads for some reason. Heads that often look better with hair, or less threatening looking or "oh I'm sorry, are you unwell?" looking.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Shave it. It will look alright as long as your head isn't a weird shape. If I ever go bald I'll look terrible because I have these weird ridges in my head. It looks like this except I'm not black.
