What to do about baldness?

I used to have really thick hair in my teens and it thinned out slightly when I turned 20. I was convinced I was going bald as my uncle started going bald at that age. The only thing that really bothered me was that I thought I'd a weird shaped head. So I took the plunge and got a bare blade all over and it looked okay, head shape was actually pretty normal. Got called the "White Somalian" as I'm tall and thin:D

Although 4 years on my hair is exactly the same, think I've got my "mature hairline". Though if the time comes I'd keep it thight, no need to get bare blade

Go for the full head shave, it's what I plan to do. I think you can actually look a lot younger with it, too.

Comb-overs are making a comeback, if you happen to be a paedo.

Shave it and embrace it. Baldness is just something that happens. I usually shave my head. It feels clean and tidy compared to when I have a mop like now.

This was also in a country where ginger is really rare. Top marks there for lack of believability!

Maybe he had it on inside out!

I thinned noticeably at 19. Been shaving my head since about 21 which is about 10 years now. It's the way forward...

    Veet the remaining hair.

Do not put on knob or bollocks.

Why not? What could possibly go wrong?

which sort of means it's not too great, or else you wouldn't know. Even the idea of a man wearing a wig is ridiculous. Just.shave.it.off. Or do a Shane Warne/Rooney - get the lawn re-seeded, which, maybe just to me, is more comical than even a wig. But then I'm easily amused. Comb-overs are comedy gold, as is dyeing it. I just crack up. I'm sorry, but I do.

    Here's what I'd do...

1.) Shave my head. Try it out. See if I'm sexy. I'm probably not, so as it grows back and I look stupid....

2.) Hair transplant. It's not cheap, but bam, problem solved. It's your own hair, it grows, you cut it, style it, do everything the same. So long as you have the money. Also, it's a one-time fee; I know people who started with special 'hair-loss shampoo' and hair 'tonics' that they used for decades (and the entire time they continued to lose hair). No idea how much it costs though.

Nope and nope unless you want a chemical sex change. Baldness is mostly due to excessive genetic sensitivity to testosterone, not the level of it. IIRC baldy blokes often have lower test going on. Though I did read somewhere that that's mostly to do with receding hairlines, losing hair/gaining face. Apparently going baldy at the crown and overall is more down to lifestyle choices, stress and diet and fitness. The latter happens to women too, so that might back that up.

If you're a Black bloke then hit the razor. It always suits them. Its a rule. The bastids :D. If you're a White bloke, then it can vary. White blokes often seem to have weird heads for some reason. Heads that often look better with hair, or less threatening looking or "oh I'm sorry, are you unwell?" looking.

Reading shit like this scares me and makes me want to try to keep up a completely clean lifestyle - which is impossible, so 'healthy' will do grand :p

Testosterone is the root of the problem and having too low and also too high a level in your system can cause hair loss. Most importantly it's the type of testosterone that's important. An active form of testosterone called dihydrotestosterone is a key factor in causing hair loss.

I've read that DHT is the predominant chemical that binds to hair follicles and shrinks them to cause hair loss. It's around 40 times more potent than testosterone alone. At a contrast though, it increases body hair and causes it to grow more prominently in places it never was, or was less prevalent before, like back, shoulders, etc.
That's why a lot of the time you'll see bald(ing) men with fuller beards, chest hair and just more body hair in general. As you get older your DHT levels rise as testosterone levels decline which gives the same result.

There are effective medications out there that block the effects of DHT, but DHT isn't purely a bad guy hormone, if anything it's integral to your sex drive, so taking medication will slow hair loss significantly, or even stop it, but it also plays havoc with your libido which means you'd have to weight up the pros and set them against the cons. I'd know well which one I'd pick easily :p

My hatred of that expression knows no limits.

Being upset about losing your hair doesn't make you less of a man.

Saw this one video of a bald guy head fcuking a bird. I'd say they're all secretly mad for it.

Very few men look good being baldy.

Some words of advice for those men going thin on top is to shave off the rest of it and do it quickly.

Quite often you have to go back to get more done as you lose more of your natural top of head hair.

    Comb-over all the way.

    Go against the grain.

Some of the coolest men on the planet favoured the look - Bobby Charlton and Anthony Burgess.

If its good enough for a World cup/European cup winner and the writer of A Clockwork Orange, it should be good enough for you ;)

I would say shave it all off or leave it the way it is . A comb over never looks good and a wig will get annoying .
