how the spotpass work on wii u

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

You need a really long extension lead!

Nah, hang on, that's streetpass. spotpass is based on wireless Internet connection, so I'm guessing it works the same as the Wii (connect24 or something to that effect) , but they've used the same name the 3ds, uses for consistent branding

My mam is not on Miiverse. My boss is not on Miiverse . What happens on Miiverse really stays on Miiverse! It's like Google+ except other people use it too

That's kinda why I love it. Played the Everton v Reading match on FIFA last night and spent more time posting on Miiverse with screenshots than playing the match. The bottle of rum didn't help I suppose but still...Mam doesn't really support the Toffees.

The funny thing is the Playstation actually did come around due to Nintendo pulling out of a contract to create a CD Rom expansion for the SNES. That then eventually became the PS1.

Dance pads, essentially a grid of flat pressure sensitive gamepad buttons set on a mat meant to be stepped on, have seen niche success with the popularity of rhythm games like Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up. The dance pad was first introduced by Bandai on the Famicom in 1986 as a part of their "Family Fun Fitness" set, then Exus released the "Foot Craz" pad for the Atari 2600 in 1987. Nintendo purchased the technology from Bandai in 1988 and used it on their "Power Pad", for the Famicom and NES.

I think that wireless set up is fairly modern, certainly not available back in the day when SNES was current gen, still a fantastic bit of kit though, I want one!! :o

Guys back on topic please. This is a Wii U discussion, not a console history discussion!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Also, it may be flat and pressure sensitive but for God's sake don't use your WiiU controller as a dance mat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭wampyrus77

i dont need to i ve wii dancemat, i hope someday a wii u game comes out suitable for it, i can use it on wii u dance game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,763 ✭✭✭wampyrus77

Also i ve Wii Balance Board, i hope someday a wii u game comes out suitable for it, i can use it on wii u fit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,120 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Yup, Wii U Fit will use the balance board. I really don't know if we'll get any other games that will use it though! (Unless they make another Wii U Fit game after the first one!)

the first time they have to replace a controller screen in warranty because someone lost their balance on the balance board and landed on it, will be the last time they release a WiiU game with Balance Board compatibility...

Doubt something like that would be covered by a warranty! That'd only cover manufacturer issues.

I think you underestimate how convincing an argument I can put forward, if a game encourages me to stand on one leg while holding the controller pad

I can also make a case for getting confused by ambiguous instructions that lead me to stand on the controller pad while holding the balance board.

Well, this could be my last night in this thread, my Zavvi WiiU has apparently landed in the ParcelMotel depot up the north so should be ready for collection tomorrow. I may have to migrate to the "I've got a WiiU" thread. Then again, I might be back on tomorrow night complaining that they shipped everything except the WiiU, or that I received a box full of rubber wristbands and USB connector housings. Either way, it's adventure time!

Smashing news dude! Get yourself a bottle to celebrate.

If it asks you to system update or even game update, cancel and it'll download in the background. That way, you can dive straight into a game without being gee-eyed by the time the updates are finished. Then, when you're going to bed, set it off manually and tell it to shut down after it finishes.

And whatever you do do not plug it out or turn it off before it's finished!!!!

But the most important rule, the rule you can never forget - no matter how much he cries, or how much he begs, never, never feed him after midnight
