The Commodore machines are what I grew up on VIC-20 > C64 > Amiga 500.

My first console wasn't until the Dreamcast.

    Started with a zx spectrum - spectrum +2 - mastersystem - amiga - megadrive - playstation - ps2 - ps3

And do ye know what? Games have gained depth and lost playability; graphics have become the substitute for all;)

And master system, amiga, ps1 and ps2 still work fine and my two year old ps3 died a few weeks ago:)

I've had 4 xbox 360's, and yet my gameboy bought in 1990 still worked until I gave it away a year ago

I went from a ps1 > gameboy colour > GBA > PS2 and then started to grow my collection from there.

I started with a neo geo aes, then a 3do and a turbo express in one foul swoop and finally rounded it off with a famicom titler. Traded them all in for a ps1 bundled with fifa.

Bought My first console of my cousin for £14... an Atari 7800. Pretty sure he got a Megadrive for Christmas the year it came out so I saved and saved and bought the 7800 off him. 14 quid was a lot for a 7 year old me :D
Pole Position, MouseTrap, Centipede, Asteroids, Pacman.... awesome times.

A friend of mine is saying something about the PS4 being $529.99 at launch. Do the usual Sony currency conversion and it will be 499.99 euros or more.

    Ouch.

Well there was talk of £300 the other day. That could just be the base model though.

I'd like to think they've learned their lesson from the last time around and aren't going to make it a stupid price.

    He's saying there'll be 2 sku's anyway.

    I'd say a 250gb base model and a 500gb "premium" model.

If the PS4 launches with The Last Guardian I will be first in line for it.
Of course if the machine launches with The Last Guardian, Satan will be skating to work that day.... given that hell will have frozen over, by way of explanation.
    Otherwise I won't touch the PS4 until late 2014, maybe 2015.
The new Xbox though, I'll probably get it at launch... PGR5 please!

What are the odds The Last Guardian will be a swan song release for the PS3?

If so, I'm sure it'll get a PS4 'deluxe' release anyway. So it looks more and more likely I'll never have needed to own a PS3.

Looking increasingly likely it will be a PS4 title to be honest. Explains the lengthy silences and would be a fairly significant fix for the technical limitations that were supposedly weighing the title down.

That and it would basically be the closest thing to a killer app for core gamers that Sony could possibly offer, launch title or not. There'll be a lot of Internet whinging if the format is changed, but no-one can stay angry at Team Ico for too long ;)

Amazing to think that a high-profile game can be in active development for basically the eight year lifespan of a console and still possibly not make it out!

But if you don't get a PS4 how will you keep up to date with the exhilarating story lines in the Killzone franchise?

That's what I was thinking. Business wise, it makes sense to get it on the PS4. If it is a release title (or shortly after release) then I'd seriously consider picking one up. If not then I'll probably do the same thing I did with the PS3.

So many more shades of brown left to explore!

I hear the PS4 is shipping with an extra dedicated GPU just to handle the extra shades of greys and brown required by the latest Resistance and Killzone titles. It's called the Mediocrity Engine.

A dedicated CPU, meanwhile, will handle the immense amounts of QTEs and ****e storytelling thus far unannounced Quantic Dream next-gen titles will have to offer.

Da RAGE just got in a Wily Wars cart! Wonder how much they're charging... although at least their 'RARE!!' sticker is justified this time ;)

Is it CIB, boxed or cart only?
