This is meant to be fairly good, never played it though. I think it came late enough in the PS1 life.

I think Rez on the ps2 is about as good as it gets for this style of game on Sony hardware.
Sin and Punishment on N64 and Wii are worth playing, the wii version is available for small enough money at the moment. The N64 version is Jap only but worth having an N64 for alone.

For me Panzer Dragoon Orta is the best rail shooter money can buy.

Orta is a beautiful game alright.
Pity a HD remake of the first three titles never materialised, I suppose the series has no profile beyond gamers like ourselves now, given titles that emerged long after, like DMC, are themselves being remade and rebooted.

That crimson dragon demo which appeared on jap xbla last year looked pretty good before it got pulled although I think it was kinect only :(

Tut tut, you forgot the daddy of them all, Space Harrier!
Starblade in the arcade and, essentially, on the 3DO, is that an on rails shooter? Awesome either way!

Can't forget Kid Icarus Uprising - a game so singular ans demanding that one's hand has to physically transform into a claw to get the most out of it!

Ah there are a good few more if you're willing to go back a bit. Panorama Cotton is great as is After Burner 2. I do think they've really dated though. Don't nearly stand up anywhere close to the above mentioned ones.

I always forget about that game! By far one of the best games for the 3DS.

Just put up a thread over in the Japanese language forum to see if someone can translate all the Japanese on my Shock Troopers box. Always wondered what it said.

(Johnny Ultimate - fancy giving a translation a go?? :D)

I have thus far memorised a grand total of five hiragana - get back to me in two or three years and I might have a few kanji :p

I can just about count and tell the time in Japanese, but I'm happy that I'm picking up a few stray words and phrases in Virtue's Last Reward already. Mostly just numbers and Luna's frequent use of 'hontou ni' (really) but that's better than nothing :) It's not the worst language to pick up in terms of speaking (so far anyway - that's going to come back to bite me in the ass), but alas its those hundreds, thousands of symbols that are the major handicap in terms of functional fluency.

speaking of Japanese stuff, my friend Matthew who lives over there said Adventure Time just got dubbed (how dramatic is the ad!?) but even though he told his students about it last year, drew the characters on the board and in their notebooks, they still say they found it first

Oh, I'm sure they took a few Road Runner cartoons and added a new voice overs and some tentacle porn!

Adventure Time is hilarious, that is all.

So, downloaded Majoras Mask for the Wii VC, within the WiiU, so an emulation, running within an emulation.... there's an Xzibit Meme right there!
The realised I should have just brought the GC down, plugged it in and played it with the Wavebird, so another €10 wasted!

The Wii classic controller is pants btw.

Didn't think it was too bad but the Classic Controller Pro is excellent.

The bloody cable is in the wrong place!
Pity they don't just patch the thing, somehwo, and allow the use of either the WiiU Pro Controller or the screen, but it'll probably never happen :(

Actually I don't think the Wii is emulated on the WiiU per say as it has it's own seperate NAND chips etc from what I read.

I think it just runs in a virtual machine.

You can have as many people as you want on a team at a Woolshed table quiz. We could all go as a team and destroy everyone :D

Don't think so, looking at the shape around the handle its the one that carries 8 games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,699 ✭✭✭deathrider

Apparently the answer was Snes, two contollers, cables and the likes, and ten games.

Quick non-related question, lads- Was there ever a PAL version of Trill Kill released?
