They are official distributors of the Amiko range in the UK, so you would be safe to get it from them.

I've not heard of any Alien2 clones as yet ..but there are plenty of shd8900 clones..

For this guide I'm assuming you have basic FTP knowledge, if you haven't I suggest you Google or get the help of someone who does.

First of all, go to Menu-->Spark-->Upgrade Software. Do a downgrade to 1.2.51 E2 Boot Upgrade. You can flash back to the latest Spark later if you wish to continue using Spark.

Pog, Your instructions are obviously spot on as they have worked for sereral others on here. However my retarded self has fallen at the very first hurdle.

I received my box this morning, did a quick initial set up and saved the terestrial channels.

Then i thought i would try your instructions to get it to work with E2.

I downloaded the downgrade to 1.2.51 E2 boot upgrade, and after it finished downloading, the box asked to be re booted.

It re booted, but i have no input to the screen on my television.
I can hear the audio for all the channels i saved, but i have no picture.
I am on the correct av, is there a button on the remote that turns off the screen that i may have pressed by accident or does anyone have suggestions?

Try using a scart instead of HDMI

With the receivers remote, press menu and using the lcd screen on front of receiver go to system/settings/ av setting and adjust to suit your tv input.

fair play givecred, i can actually scroll through the menu alright but the display on the box only gives me the menu heading, i can get as far as a/v output but i am blind after this as there is no image of what the screen should look like in the manual. So i dont know how many times to press up down or over

Pog, i have switched to the scart now also, same result. I dont think it is a connection issue. As the display was working fine before i did the update.

If i could manage to get across to factory default in the menu, using givecred method. Would that remove the update i have installed?

FFS, don't be so lazy, read the thread Godammit.

    Yes to them all.

The CrossEPG plugin gives the satellite EPG. Terrestrial channels already have EPG. The Series link equivalent is the Autotimers plugin, you add the TV program, it scans the EPG's for the next 7 days for TV programs that match the criteria and makes timers for them, then you must scan again in 7 days for more programs. You can record 2x sources and watch/stream a third.

Nice one man thanks for that the thread is getting confusing prehaphs we could add what it can and cant do to the first post. Is it handy enough add these plugins?
This sounds like what I'm after to replace my upc.

    Cheers

I posted a full guide here:

You will need to be fairly computer literate, be ok with extracting files and using Filezilla which needs you to be very familiar with file and directory layout.

How good / fast is the blind scan really compated to the cheaper Skybox / openbox receivers ?

No way to get 4.2.2 feeds I guess as you can with the Azbox premium which I have, good box but blind scan is very slow on this one :(

Any plug in which gives PIP or the ability to watch 2 or more channels at once ?

Menu/Setup/System/A/V Settings/ Press right of circle on remote and press green. If no picture appears press ok. This brings you back to av settings press right of circle twice this time and press green, if no picture appears press ok and repeat process (Press right 3, 4, times) There are four AV options when you find right one press bottom of cirle on remote and press ok.

i am afraid there must be something else up here i think. Appreciate you going to the effort of taking me through the menu though. Tried that several times, just in case i was hitting it wrong.
Is it possible that the box didnt download the file correctly and when boots, it doesnt correctly.
So disappointed was looking forward to having a right old play with this tonight

Apologies, I just reread your first post again. You are still on Spark? You have not flashed enigma 2 yet? I will switch back to spark tonight and see what button presses are required for av settings in spark.

Correct, i am still on spark. I have not flashed anything yet. Just attempted the upgrade to 1.2.51 E bootupgrade via LAN.
It appears that on the reboot after this upgrade that something has malfunctioned.

    Again appreciate your efforts, thanks

    Spark Image Factory Reset:

Menu/Press right of ok twice/press ok/press right of ok once. Press arrow under ok five times then press ok./Press arrow under ok once and press ok,Then press ok again, This should factory reset box.

Are you sure Spark is loading? Could it be that your box is trying to boot an E2 image that does not exist. Power off the box with the switch at the back, hold OK and power on the switch. Keep holding until you see "FORC" on the display, then arrow up and down until you see "Spark" and hit OK. The box should reboot and load Spark.

I read in some forum that you should never factory reset these boxes. Have you heard anything of such a claim?

Yep its definitely spark thats loading, it will not boot in enig. I tried to boot it in enigma yesterday when i was having no luck with the spark loading. But the box just got stuck in boot, i left it for several hours to see if it was actually doing something but no, just said boot. this is probably just because there is nothing loaded on the enigma side, but i am no expert so i am not sure if this should or should not be the case.

But it is definitely booting in spark albeit incorrectly

I did read through this yesterday but i thought that because the box is booting in spark, and i can hear the channels but not seeing a picture, it probably isnt the same situation that the others with the stuck on boot situation are having.

I take it then that, booting on the enigma side should be possible from its out of the box state?

This is no good for Freeview HD UK or RTE 2 HD as it does'nt have the DVB-T2 tuner, just DVB-T it seems acc to the description anyway

There seems to be so many little issues with this box, I presume no problems simply recording Freeview HD or Freesat / satellite HD to a USB stick ?

RTE2 HD isn't DVB-T2. The Saorview spec changed the 1st of January to follow the UK but T2 isn't being used.

What issues? I've zero issues with mine now.

    givecredit you absolute beauty!

I got impatient and I ignored the warning of doing a factory reset and i went with your instructions in getting to the reset menu.

And boom it worked, i am now back to where i started and i have the screen again!

So you can get an HD broadcast with a DVB-T but MPEG 4 encoded transmission ?

The issues in the last few posts ?
