He probably saw things that most of us will never witness now. I guess normal behaviour just vanished back then. It must have been a fascinating interview though.

Yeah. My favorite happy story was that he and his best friend were flying back to England after a raid. They knew they were safe when they could see the White Cliffs of Dover. They were almost safe when his best friend got shot down.

My grandpa landed safely and his CO said they could not find his friend and he was presumed lost. He gave my grandfather 48 hours leave to go get drunk and get it out of his system.

He drank heroically for 36 hours and then went back to their bunks to sleep it off. When he got back, there was his best friend! They had fished him out of the channel! His friend informed him that they had 24 hours leave, so he turned around and they went right back to the bar :)

Yeah better than lindt and some of it is soya free too, it's what I use to make OH's daughter chocolate cake without milk, egg, flour and everything else she's allergic to.

I probably will go for it if they are flexible, I blew them off the last time as they were insisting on face to face interviews and i was away a lot.

It would mean more money, it would look great on my c.v., don't like the company, and I'd have to sign a very long term NDA, but hey I'm getting ahead of myself.

I'll reply tomorrow and see what they say.

Was last August I last spoke to them.

Hmmph weird one here, months ago (must have been august) I applied for a job, got a first interview (of FIVE), passed it, and wasn't available due to travel commitments

They emailed me today, asking if I'd reconsider going through the process as they are very interested.

    Thoughts?

Why not? You went for the interview in the first place, so had some interest. As RQ has said, go for it :)

But Stheno, could possibly mean more money in the company you're with now if they wanted to keep you and you were offered the other one? No harm in trying anyway, you could always say no.

    Congratulations Ellieh!

Quick question: My course ends in July and I am on my second work placement from May-July, so how soon before my course ends/second placement starts should I start applying for jobs?

There's no chance of getting any kind of paid work where I am doing my placement unfortunately so I need to apply for other jobs.

No chance, they've lost incredibly talented people ranked in the top five in Europe due to pay.

I'm not at that level :)

Oops, maybe not then. If you like where you are and your job is reasonably safe then I suppose you've nothing to lose by applying - if you end up wanting to go you can and if it doesn't work out you're no worse off than you are now.

Toast, depends what sector you're in, you could probably start looking whenever you want - some advertise for ages and don't get back to you I've found, or get back to you after ages. I got a job in the summer but I'd applied for it around Christmas - obviously they're not all as slow-moving as that but different financial companies etc have different cut-off dates if they're taking on entry-level people. (Don't want to panic you though, this might not apply at all to the type of work you're in!)

True, and if I got it, it would seriously enhance my c.v., increase my experience across industries, and my bank balance would be healthier.

And should it not work out, I could probably get into my old job easily enough, not many people doing what I do in Ireland.:D

    I'm in office/admin work.

There's quite a few jobs advertised at the mo, but like you say, some jobs are advertised for ages.

    Stheno, go for it!

If nothing else, its always good to fine tune interview skills, but if it is an interesting opportunity go for it!

NCT on the car tomorrow and sometime in the last 3 hours our back windscreen got shattered. Typical.

No harm applying, I assume it's on your CV that you're in the middle of a course so they know you're not available immediately...also practice interviews are good!

    ETA: Neyite,:(:( sucky timing.

Dentist tomorrow. Yet again my pleas to have my wisdom teeth removed will fall on deaf ears. Last time I went I was told that they only remove them if you've been prescribed antibiotics 3 times in the course of a year. FFS, I'm in pain. Get these pesky buggers out of my jaw so I can have some peace!

I had mine out after no antibiotics, that's weird.

Really? My dentist seems eager to have mine taken out and I've only had one round of antibiotics. Though maybe it's more a case of getting on the waiting list *before* they become a problem... never thought to ask if they'd take them if I had no more problems by the time I got to the top of the list...

Mind you I'm still waiting for the assessment, 8 months later, never mind the waiting list..

I was a private patient for my wisdom teeth, never mind.

My dentist seems mad to get at my wisdom teeth :/ I left him off with one, but that finished me with getting teeth out. That was back in November, and I still feel weird about feeling where it was incase there's a hole in it still, shudder.

I also have a small bone shard stuck in my jaw from when I got two teeth out to make room for my wisdoms and methinks that might be, if you'll excuse the pun, the "root" of the problem. The neuralglia and stabbing pains keep me awake but because I'm on anti-psychotics and mood regulators, the strongest thing I can take is paracetemol which does feck all.
My dentist told me last time that I may need to see a dental surgeon as my wisdoms are coming in awkwardly and the placement of the roots are in a J-shape, meaning they could potentially hook the teeth in front and cause me to possible loose more. :(
Urgh. I hate it. Brought my dental pains on myself, though. I have sensory overload issues that mean it's extremely difficult for me to put up with the feelings of brushing my teeth. Whilst I try to keep them clean if they're getting grubby looking, I don't brush twice a day like I should.
I mostly brush once every two or three days which is madness but it's a bad habit I've gotten into. That said, my lovely electric toothbrush polishes the hell out of my gnashers so I rarely feel the need to clean them daily.
Sure, they're not perfectly white but they don't look manky.

Does that "just awake" feeling in the morning not drive you insane Mc Chubbin?

My dog has a cough that's driving me insane. Doesn't seem to be unwell with it, just it's persistent. Brought his bed into my room because I felt sorry for him but he has me awake all night with it. Won't be around today to take him to the vet so I will take him first thing on Thursday.

It's going to be a long day
