Oh if anyone wants to give it a try let me know, I need to know how bad the framerate is. You'll need stencyl to play it which is free.

I'll give it a go if you like. I've stencyl on my dev machine at home.

So, when can we expect the 6/10 Edge review of your magnum opus Retr0, only ask for the decades later retraction and granting of a 9/10 in retrospect, or should that be retr0spect?

    Ah yes,
"Anal" and "Joysticks", two words that have no business in the same paragraph, never mind sentence!

Why must you pollute our minds by conjuring up images of items being stuck up bottoms? :(

Playing through The Cave, and while it has lots of good ideas, the game has some baffling rough edges. The whole idea of controlling three characters is grand, but having to drag each of them individually across a whole level to get them to the same puzzle gets infuriating fast, especially with the sluggish movement mechanics. I don't know why they didn't include an auto-gather button and simply disable it when you're not allowed use it. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the elegant switching mechanics of Trine (although The Cave offers much more interesting puzzles). Add to that exhausting levels of pointless backtracking, and the game really feels like it's wasting your time.

It's a really creative game in some respects, and the puzzles / settings are very imaginative, but definitely a game that would have been immeasurably improved with a couple of weeks of extra polish.

Sometimes they seem to come hither to your characters location, most of the time not.
    I'm enjoying it, mind you.
It's a while since I smiled as much during a videogame, not including us all falling off Rainbow Road at the LAN MK:DD festeeval in mine last Beers!
The noise of the Time Traveler is making me want to punch something though, but the scene in the castle is priceless, dumbass King!

You might be better off getting one of the 360 mad catz sticks, they seem to be cheap enough these days. The budget ones have decent quality parts but you can swap them out with sanwa or seimetsu parts later. The premium ones come with sanwa parts already installed. Much better quality.

If you're looking at the higher end madcatz ones, consider a Qanba Q4RAF instead. Gremlin have them in stock a fair bit. They are made of all the same Sanwa parts and are really good quality, but they're tri-modded straight out of the box, so they work on 360, PS3, and PC without any modifications and are very mod friendly if you do want to make any changes.

Yeah they always do teleport to you at the end of levels and the like, so its extra baffling how inconsistently its applied.

I agree there's loads of excellent bits in it - the twins level, set in a Gothic house alá Tim Burton, is a highlight so far - but it's one of those games that is just that little bit short of being really great, and that's why the rough edges are so disappointing :( I've heard that you have to repeat the 'core' levels when you play through with a different trio of characters too.

Oh, and yeah, that time traveler hum is maddening!

    Well guess what?

Playing through the cave and enjoying it when lo and behold im after getting a game breaking bug.

On the monks level if you save with one character outside the temple the bridge rebuilds itself and you cant get back in or out.

Annoying as i spent quite a few hours playing this today for this to happen.

downloaded Persona 1 and 2 for my ps1 emulator, time to see what all the fuss is about

Persona 1 and 2 are hardcore dungeon crawlers that are very much the product of a different era. They're rewarding if you have the patience but its 3 + 4 - both of which are completely standalone - that are the 'best games ever' candidates.

They're very, very different from the much better Persona 3 and 4. Persona 1 is a first person dungeon crawl that's rock hard and P2 isn't far off it. Some other things to note is that the English version of Persona 1 has about half of the game cut out of it since there wasn't time to localise it meaning you really want to play the better PSP version. Also there's two games in Persona 2 but only the second game was released on the playstation in the US. The only way to play the first part of P2 is to get the game on the PSP or get the fan translation.

In other words, start with Persona 3 and 4 first, they are much better and you don't need knowledge of the previous 3 games to play them since they don't follow on.

They're PS2 right? are they hard to find?

    Hmm, sanity check.
Parcel Motel, it's 3.50 for 48 hour stay and then another 3.50 for another 48 hours if you cant collect the item?

    Master of the Universe

That's right! Certainly adds up if you can't collect it on time for a few days.

Yeah, I'd a few bits come in on Friday night and now this evening.
Wont be able to grab them until Monday as it's beside work and I don't fancy heading in to the city.
Great service though, even if you do feel like a drug dealer when your collecting stuff from the back of a petrol station (usually at night).

    Edit:
An awesome extra would be if they scanned the package and you could grab a .jpg or have it emailed to you before heading down.

PS2 and very easy to find. Make sure you get the FES edition of Persona 3., it's slightly better.

I picked them off ebay a while back for about 10 euro each sealed. Yet to play them but Retro is always banging on their brilliance so I picked them up on his recommendation. I think I got 3 FES which I think has extra content but Retro is the man to ask.

For those that want MAME on their iOS devices but aren't jailbroken you better head over to the app store fairly sharpish and get a free game called "Gridlee".
It uses MAME to run the game and you can drop MAME roms into it very easily and they will run just fine.
    https://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/id595117070?mt=8&affId=2049622

    http://toucharcade.com/2013/01/26/mame-is-back-in-the-app-store-for-now-with-gridlee/

It's based on MAME 0.139u1 which is a much newer version than the other version of MAME that was up on the app store last year(and got pulled after a day or so). It's also got iCade support built in.

    Go grab it :)

Yeah I played The Answer for an hour and didn't want it to sour my experiences with the main game. Takes away all the fun bits :(

As has been said before, they're both worth playing but the usabity improvements with P4 mean its probably tricky to jump backwards. Persona 4 smoothes out pretty much every rough edge of the already excellent template.

watched like all the cutscenes and like talky bits to the end ... playing it for whatever it is, 30ish hours for that story and ending ... they should be on Oxfam ads or something.
SRSLY WTS! Aigis' sister is like, a pure anime character "YUR SO STOOPID DID I NOT TELL YOU!?" every 10 minutes and no one notices how uninformative she is! Aigis is pure half crying all the time and Yukari being 20xmillion times more of a bitch for nothing (she was a bitch all along like but not that much in P3).
with P4 mean its probably tricky to jump backwards. Persona 4 smoothes out pretty much every rough edge of the already excellent template.
Retr0 played P4 first I think so had warned me to play P3 first.
