Very sorry to read this, losing a family pet is always hard and it should never have to be under those circumstances.

So Balloon Fight in the EU on the Wii U virtual console only runs at 50hz, how on Earth do they Justify that?

All virtual console games that aren't imports, handheld or PC Engine games run at 50Hz. It's a disgrace.

Ah 50Hz isn't worth getting that upset over! :p

Seriously though, it is a shame about the dog, hope your kid doesn't take it too hard Cidey.

Spent an awful lot of this morning in tears myself.
At least i got to do the hard bits, I'd rather spare Kara and Jack, my wife and son, having to deal with it.
Turns out there is a lovely thread in the Pets Forum for discussing this stuff so I did a post there, I appreciate the kind words from you all, thanks.

And now back to your regularly scheduled retro chat

Quick one lads, I'm looking to get an x-arcade dual joystick, the cost from x-gaming is 130 dollars/97 euro, and from Gremlin Solutions it's 120GBP/140 euro.

I know carriage is gonna be the major factor but haven't gone looking for quotes from either yet until I have enough money. Anyone have dealings with something so heavy from either of these?

Or know another site I might be able to check? Cheers

It's a long time since I got mine, don't remember being killed on the postage though. Definitely go through the UK though, you'll be hit for customs on top of postage from the US.

Look into Parcel Motel if the postage costs outside the UK are proving to be too high.

You might be better off getting one of the 360 mad catz sticks, they seem to be cheap enough these days. The budget ones have decent quality parts but you can swap them out with sanwa or seimetsu parts later. The premium ones come with sanwa parts already installed. Much better quality.

Well with the x-arcade it's really the fact that I can connect it to an xBox 1 with an adaptor that's swaying me, plus the actual shape will sit nicely on my cab I'm putting together.

I'll have a look at those other ones though, cheers

To be honest, for the money you'll spend on one, they're not that good.

You could get far better with that money.

There's a guy over on Arcade Otaku selling these lovely looking pair of Neo geo MVS cab styled sticks for £60.

Those sticks are in this thread by the way. You need to make a post somewhere before you can see the trading forum. Really worth it, some amazing stuff shows up there for really good prices.

Some sound advice from o1s1n there but bear in mind that those sticks are presumably designed to plug into Neo Geo ports? If you were looking at X-Arcade then is it to plug into a PC using USB? Is there a potential problem there I'm not sure, just a thought tho.

I'm looking at plugging into an xbox1 that will be running coinops5 using a usb adaptor that you can buy from xgaming or gremlin solutions. Plug and play basically

Ah crap, can't believe I missed that. There's no mention of the connections on the sticks, but he's also selling a vogatek supergun. So I'd assume he was using it with that :(

Tempted to get them myself for that Ikea supergun cab I'm building...!

Yeah the Vogatek with NeoGeo ports made me think it was the same for the stick although he doesn't explicitly state that. They look nice, wonder what parts were used with them.

They look like a bit of a steal at £60. I was thinking the postage would be expensive, but then thought it might be a good one for checking out large Parcel Motel packages.

I'm religiously checking the AO sale forum these days...more so that ebay. Also really wanted to buy an STV Souky cart there the other day and a CPS2 Battle Circuit.

Had to resist though, that place would have you broke.

Saying that, I did just ask about a G Net board earlier with Shikigami No Shiro :pac:

I'm doing the same, keeping my peepers peeled for a Commando Pcb.
They come up occasionally for around the 70 mark, fingers crossed!

I saw that alright. Parcel Motel is fabulous for snagging stuff on J+ or AO, quite often the seller will say UK only so now we have an answer for that!

You missed a lovely one by a couple of weeks. :( Jamma adapter came with it too! Link.

    Ignore that - wrong game!

I'm lost for words. That's such awful news and I'm so very sorry to hear. Tell Kara and Jack we're were asking for them and give the other dog (it's Bailey isn't it?) extra rubs.

Our dog Ralph got knocked down by the postman, well ran over is more accurate, recently as well.
Bleedin' postman reversing too fast around the corner.
Ralph had 4 broken ribs and a punctured lung but thankfully he is on the mend.

Really bad news there for you Ciderman and you have my condolences. Lost a pet just over a year ago and I was devasted for days.

If you not too anal about joysticks they're more than adequate. I recently got an adapter from Gremlin for mine so it works with Dreamcast, Gamecube, Wii (Letterbombed;)) PS2 along with PC. They also sell them with Sanwa sticks if you dislike the standard sticks that much. The latest line of adapters seem a lot better than the older ones in terms of input lag.

Finally finished my game demo, even put a boss in there. I'm sick of stencyl and MS Paint.

Oh if anyone wants to give it a try let me know, I need to know how bad the framerate is. You'll need stencyl to play it which is free.

Assuming You're talking about an original psp and not a vita It's really easy to put custom firmware on them. What firmware version is it?

Actually, embarrassed to say, it turns out the PSP was running custom firmware all along. It took quite a bit of Googling and checking different sites. I was trying to install a 5.03 firmware update to the PSP but I already had 3.52 cfw from team M33/Dark Alex. I was getting this odd error message that turned out to be a safety check put in to stop people from accidentally or unintentionally wiping out their firmware (or a PSP official update doing the same). Was going round in circles trying to figure it out.

I've put PicoDrive and Snes9x Euphoria so far onto it. Sadly, Virtua Racer doesn't seem to perform too well on it.

Ciderman - sorry to hear about your Dog : /

Sound advice, cheers man. Once it works i'll iron out any problems with the settings. Sounds like the simplest way to build a cab to me but probably a costlier way of going about it.
