I wanted to enjoy it, but absolutely hated the controls.

yeah would agree with you, I found the Wii remote and nunchuck a pain at times, I will finish it one day.
Same with NSMB on the Wii, love the Wii U version, but holding the Wii remote never worked for me.

Agreed, the game was let down by the control system in this case

Which is a real shame as I really like the look of it and the dungeons were pretty good too. I know some people didn't seem to have the problem with the controls I did, but to me they were pretty broken.

The way the motion controls work in the NintendoLand Zelda game are fantastic and work they way they're supposed to, so there is hope for the future I guess.

Went to see Wreak it Ralph in the cinema last night. Came out afterwards really wanting to pick up a woody cabinet!

I didn't realise it was out in cinemas here yet, but I knew it was running months behind the American release. Downloaded it ages ago to bring it for a spin, and I really enjoyed it. I'll still head to see it again in the cinema though.

I think I just must have been lucky with Skyward Sword controls, as I thought it was fantastic bar a few little annoyances and moments of repetition. Probably my favourite Nintendo game since Mario Galaxy. A near 10/10 for me anyway, managed to recapture that sheer joy you don't get all that often in games these days.

So a good game ruined by Wii motion controls? Bloody hell, sometimes these things really are a curse. They should always include some kind of Gamecube pad support in those situations.

I don't think it's out until this time next month. Cineworld had a preview showing for people with unlimited cards so I nabbed a couple :)

I'm not usually one for 3D but it worked pretty well in this.

Wish they had, there were a few times (mainly boss battles) where I nearly yanked the nunchuck out of the wii remote :D

Ah, deadly stuff. It's definitely on my go-to-see list anyways. Really fun movie.

I found the motion controls a complete drag, and even if they worked it would still have been superfluous nonsense when a control pad would have been perfect. Have to say, the game looked wonderful.

Zelda games always take their time. It's better than rushing them to be honest. I can wait.

Well seeing as you are getting Zeno****e and Shin Megami Tensei im sure the wait is easy.

How are you enjoying your WiiU so far

    Oh wait :pac:

Motion control killed off my interest in modern console gaming and pushed me towards handheld more. I always really enjoyed handheld gaming but home console was the boss.
It's a shame as there were some great games on the Wii that I would if enjoyed playing with my GameCube controller.
Sold my ps3 last year and gave away my games. I can't blame that on motion controls but will lay it at the feet if system updates, dlc content, and taking forever to get into games. I know how to play video games and if I didn't I'd read the fu#cking manual.

I concur and also condone the use if superfluous. Love saying that word.

I'm not 100% sure but this could be the copy of Dark Chronicle that I returned to a seller and had my money refunded. So if anybody is intrested make sure you see a picture of the manual and disk surface before parting with you cash.

Oh yes. Looking forward to grabbing The Cave later today.

Am I right in thinking that those SNES and NES games for 30 cent stop working after 30 days and you have to pay the full price?

I had no problems with the motion controls in Skyward Sword except when flying the bird which was a pain in the hoop. I like it but it's lacking. It's extremely linear and everything in the game feels like a dungeon, there's no overworld eploration. Even when you are outside of a dungeon it plays pretty much like a dungeon. It gets tiring after a while.

Note to self, do not buy a slightly soiled (see what I did there?), used PSVita from Sparks.... just trust me..... seems like the Vita is the new Rez Trance Pack in terms of preowned goods/hygiene issues!

Agreed, I still think it would have been as enjoyable if not more, with a standard pad.
    Mario Galaxy 3 coming

Looking forward to that, anything is better than another 'new' SMB.
    Mario Kart 8 coming

Kinda yawning at that, not really big into the modern ones.
    New Zelda coming

That'll be coming longer than Ron Jeremy has been coming.
Super Metroid for 30 cents in a couple of months :D

Some price, but still, its emulated. I know I know :o
Demo of The Cave up on eshop now

Cool, I'll start downloading it now. It should bee ready by Saturday evening.

Any idea how much an NES style Gameboy Advance SP with one game and no charger is worth?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,753 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

If someone is selling one to me it's worth nothing, in fact you'll have to pay me to take it off of your hands!
