I switched on 17th of December and got the €9 bundle.
On the 17th Jan I got a text saying I had insufficient balance in my account to apply the bundle (i.e. €1), however I'm still able to ring/text and browse the net :p

For some reason though texts don't seem go through properly to some people who don't have smart phones, this has been happening before the 17th too.

Streaming is impossible even if left buffering it seems to stop after maybe 10-15 seconds but it downloads alright without stopping, albeit at only about 150-200kb/s max.

The 150mins aren't really mins there more 150 calls of <1min. E.g. If you have say 120mins left, make a call, get voicemail or even just stay on it for 5 secs, when you get off the call you get a pop up saying 119mins remaining.

The thing I like most apart from the price is that the reception and internet work in parts of West Cork which Meteor used never do.

Has anyone else gone past their first month and still able to use the mins/text/data, if so how long did it last or has it been since the month was up?

Ah yes, meteor, 100% network coverage guaranteed. And then just after in tiny print (100% figure is in 99% of residential areas).

Lad I work with had the same thing, hasn't put a penny in for last 2 months. Calls Internet and browsing all working fine.

I got a sim from them in October. Am also on the €9 a month bundle. I top up by €5 a month and get another €5 bonus. That gives me €10 in my account. When I signed up for the €9 bundle it was the same as it is now. So that is Oct., Nov., Dec., & Jan. that it has remained the same. Its great value if you only use it for Talk & Texts. Unreliable for dependable for data.

I am using a windows phone and unable to select the bundle after entering *139*35000#. I tried customer service who I thought would just put me onto the €29 bundle but they just said they would pass the issue on to their technical team and wait 24 hours.

I have the same problem with my windows phone, i just put the sim card in a old spare then swap it back. Its a pain but works

I've been with Lyca for the last few months with little or no problems.

However, recently a couple of people have had trouble calling me from a landline. I tried to call my mobile from my house phone last night, and sure enough, I got an engaged tone.

Anyone else having this problem ?

similar but different - callers ringing me don't connect for up to 15 secs (i.e. neither of us gets a ringtone) and in some cases they hang up thinking the call isn't connecting. Combined with the crappy data, and unreliable texts I'm contemplating going back to Tesco... but its just sooo cheap!

That's some going, I'm assuming you would have used up over 150mins in that time ya?

I think I jinxed myself because my minutes appear to have ran out after I posted that last nyt, my text and data still work fine though.
It may have been because I decided to check my balance as the pop up's telling me how many mins I'd left stopped after the month was up.
Ah well, at least it's only a fiver to top up again.

Oh I taught you meant you have been going off the same fiver since October.

I've just realised that the reason I was able to continue making calls was because it was using up the €1 credit I had until it went below 3 cents (the minimum required to make a call to a non lyca network) .
Text and data are free as long as you have 1 or 2 cent left in your balance.

So if I didn't need to make calls I could probably keep using it until I reached the 9gb of data or 10,000 texts limit.

I read on previous posts that people were having problems txting emobile numbers. Is this still the case or has it been rectified?

I have been with lyca for 3 months or 4 now but topped up once and was still able to send texts and call lyca number fopr free.

My 2nd top up will be today.

I have only spoken to customer care team once that's just when I was porting to find out how long it will take which it took under 10min.

TBH you only need to speak to customer care team just once at least every month. I have never spoken to any customer care at least once in a month on meteor Vodafone etc.

With texts not being delivered just take your sim card out and reboot your phone.

Any issue that I have with lyca is phone dropping off during calls which can happen.

Pretty much set on going with Three now. Good value tariffs are fantastic but if they're not allied to reliable service you can forget about it - mobiles are about convenience, not hassle.

Does anyone know if you have to have auto topup enabled in order for your bundle to be auto renewed? My account was in credit but it did not auto renew. I had to do it manually. I remember earlier on in the thread people were saying if you had the bundle before a certain date it would auto renew... which I had.

The SIM card has been out of my phone and the phone rebooted umpteen times, no difference. I have to carry an old phone with a different SIM to text emobile, what sort of service is that? THe only reason I stay with Lyca is the data, when that's gone so am I.

my bundle auto-renewed. I do have auto-topup enabled, but it hasn't triggered yet. (I was getting a message after every call telling me how many minutes I have left, but that seems to have stopped now, so I've no way of knowing).

Read the three forum first, more expensive tariffs and unreliable service, crap customer care too!!

Send *137# and it will tell you how many minutes you have left. I've saved this code in my phonebook and just have to scroll down to it and hit send any time I want to check my minutes.

What you should do first is get a free sim from Three and put it in an unlocked phone. Then test it out thoroughly for reception, etc., where you work & play. That way you won't get any nasty surprises. This goes for any network, not just Three.

that doesn't work for me anymore, it just comes up invalid request, please check and try again.

Oh, no, I'm already on Three PAYG, the coverage is excellent and the 3G speeds are the best locally because they have the least load of the three major networks.

If a company could actually offer low-cost tariffs and decent service it'd break the monopoly of the big networks almost over-night. Lyca's approach has no stability, be it in the constantly rolling over 'offers' or, it seems, in the actual service itself.

Looks like Lyca have changed their offers now. You still get double credit with online/Auto topups but the web site says free credit can't be used to buy bundles :( Also seems free texts and data with any topup is also gone:

    http://www.lycamobile.ie/en/Double-credit-with-Auto-Top-up
Customers will receive FREE call credit every time they Top-up through online/ use Auto Top-Up. Auto Top-up is only available to customers after they have registered their details online, the free credit cannot be used to purchase additional Lycamobile products i.e bundles, roaming Services, voicemail, ....

Wow, now they have essentially the same prices/offers as Tesco mobile but lack their customer service and still have their sms issues.

I don't think so, Tesco Mobile Unlimited is a 30 day contract not PAYG, and it's an extra €6 per month. You do get an extra 5Gb of data though: http://shop.tescomobile.ie/SIM-only-plans.aspx

Lyca also offer landline calls at 3c per minute, with Tesco they're 20c per min.

That's a bummer if Lyca is not letting you use bonus credit towards buying bundles... Sh1te.

Another difference between Tesco and Lyca was that with Tesco the bonus credit expired after 30 days or so, where as Lyca would let you carry it over / continue using it. I wonder if this has changed too?

yep looks like time to port again from this crowd,

anyway still having problems with texting international numbers, have phoned cs a few times and still getting the same bs response about giving me reference number and waiting 24 hours, they can never seem to fix the problems

    useless they are.

They're getting their act together at last, in that they have updated their website in a timely manner. This is the first month I've seen that. Will also be interesting if their system will know that half of the amount in your account is bonus credit. Once you have the required credit in your account, how will their systems know what you are using to buy a bundle. This is from their Get Double Credit t&c's :

"The free call credit will appear immediately after the Top-up has been applied to the account. Any call, text or data charges will be deducted first from the Promo credit (unless you have bundle minutes, which take priority). The promotion may be withdrawn or changed at any time in full or in part at the absolute discretion of Lycamobile Ireland. The General Terms and Conditions apply.
    Promotional period: Until 28/02/2013"

Presumably their system will just tag credit as "paid" or "bonus" and then take that into consideration when using it to pay for stuff - and apply any relevant restrictions?

I just bought the 29e bundle with my free credit... Only topped up by 15... Its the only one that still has 'unlimited' data.. Or should i say fair usage policy of 10000mb (10g?) since when is 10g unlimited??

They should be done for false advertising!!

Also unlimited texts are gone too...

100mg of data with the 9e bundle is laughable!!!

I'll stay for the month anyway now that i have the 29e bundle but after this i'll defo be looking for alternatives for a data provider... I was only using the sim in my wireless hotshot for the data anyway.
I have a feeling they wont be around for much longer now... With these new 'offers' they are no longer all that competitive... I bet a load of people have already jumped ship as it is...!!
I would be seriously pissed off if i'd ported over to them... As it is i'm stuck with vodafone for another year or so!! Lol they're the worst but at least i have 'free' calls to all my family & some of my friends...
