ok I am waiting on STB and I got dish size wrong so with 88cm he may get a sniff. I checked on 26 now and this is the strongest one I can find.

    11958H 27500 and it reads 80%S = signal strength
    66%Q = quality.

The markings on dishes can be very poor but I found triax to be good. 22.2 is the elevation but when you get a signal tweak the dish up and down to get the best signal and then mark dish! Move lnb in and out and twist again to get best signal. Once you peak on an HORIZONTAL channel you then have to check a vertical one so use this one
12015V 27500 and that is 77S and 60Q on a 1.1m triax with black ultra here in the west. All my figures should be better where you are so aim for 70%Q once you have the best tighen everything rock solid. then use the bracket. all the other sats including 10east are much stronger than 26east or BADR4.

    http://en.kingofsat.net/sat-badr4.php

    a mine of information

To get dish sizes I use kingofsat but that is a busy site ie lots on the page but go slowly and scroll down it will reveal a lot. here is 26 east and if you look across the top it will actually show the sat exact location in real time. so see badr 4 = 25.97% click on it and another page opens, scroll down and you get all the channel. click on expand the frequencies, note the beam ie bss, click on it scroll down and you get reception reports. I wont put mine in as they may reduce the power!! note it gives dish sizes and 1.1m is good for ireland.

iba I am sure I replied to a message to you.

that MBC beam is weird and very close to 28east.

    good luck

Is Al-Jazeera Sport and others on that transponder (cant open king of sat from this PC(blocked by work))

Some pics 4 STB (hope they help a bit)

BTW I noticed that my elevation is 25 - so I guess I have a little bit of tweaking to do

More pics. The 1st two are on KU_Arabsat 2/3A on the Ariva 250

    1st one is Al-Jazeera on 12035/H/27495

    PID: 512/650/128

    2nd one MBC2 on 11919/H/27500

    PID: 403/603/403

3rd one is MBC Action on C_Arabsat 2/3A on 2980/H/27495

    PID: 406/606/406

I dont know what the difference is between these two Arabsats so I ust scan both

Singal Strength on 11919 on KU_Arabsat is 90 and quality is 60 (4th Pic)

and on 12182 just for example im getting 90S and 70Q (5th pic)

The C_Arabsat does not appear in these lists though, maybe it gets amalgamted with this KU_Arabsat - I just dont know

(I took these pics with my camera, I was just told on another thread that I can stream my TV pic to PC with VLC or with WEBif. So while you guys are working on 26 Im going to try and learn about VLC and WEBif)

I presume that I should be able to get at least 75% signal quality on my 125CM dish?

MBC apparently have their own separate beam: the official footprint shows no coverage whatsoever for this part of the world.

Looks like a tweaked version of the BSS footprint. Map is probably just to keep programme rights-holders happy (chop off most of Europe, including English speaking countries) & not really a separate beam.

Is the 26E satellite lower in the Sky than 28.2E for instance? If so I will cut the trees in half which are in the same direction. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭Ronnie Raygun

In Ireland, the satellites at 26 degrees east are higher in the sky than those at 28. If you've set up any kind of dish before, you should have no problem finding it. The 125cm dish will have a fairly tight beamwidth, but it isn't that fussy.

Weird that as I still couldn't get a signal a few days ago and no problems with 13E, 19.2E or 28.2E coming in, the Inverto Black Ultra came in the post yesterday so I will try very soon again. :)

Its a feckin b*stard on anything smaller than that size dish!

You cannot get this sat position off a multibracket that also contains offset positions for 28/19/13/9&10 and 4.8E on a TD88, thats for sure. The elevation of 22 degrees at pirmary focus required for 26E upsets the offsets of everything else on the Triax multibracket which requires elevation around the 29 mark.

A homebrew holder has to be joined to the multibracket as an add on.

Trust me. I wrecked my own head with it. Time I will never get back. In any event MBC is not available to me even on prime focus on a TD88 in the south east. MBC Libya yes! And the Dubai Sports Channels!

Thanks for all the photos etc IBA and to the rest of the guys for all the help. Will have to gunther a bracket to add to my primary bracket setup.

My elevation is 25/26, way off the recommended 22.

You did try getting 26 without ur bracket, just try it with the main arm of the dish.

Well when my 8/1 Diseqc switch arrives from Hong Kong, Im going to give it a go and change from my 28, 26, 19 & 13 to 28, 26, 13 & 10 - so we will see what happens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,850 ✭✭✭swoofer

iba why would you want 10 east?

Oh yes I got it at prime focus and just off prime focus with the revised drilled position on the Triax 20 degree bracket. Because the elevation in so low at or near prime focus your multibracket position for the other satellites are completely out. The arc is completely out.

I dont know what size dish you are using but a TD88 with that multibracket reversed and redrilled wont do it. ie centre around 16E @ 29/30 in elevation. That gives you 28, 23, 19, 13, 10+9 and 4.8E. You have to add on 26E afterwards (off and below the bracket) to get everything. I am using an 8x1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,850 ✭✭✭swoofer

have you tried pltv today? and can you enter BISS keys in your box? Its gone off again after only a few weeks and could be gone for quite a while this time.

They dont come with covers unfortunately.

    Make one!

You will get a weatherproof junction box on ebay for €6 which you can mod to your requirements.

It does now, but extremely unlikely to have EPL games on Hotbird.

Here's a thought. If an installer gets reliable 7w reception, (big expensive dish) use a fibre optic lnb and distribute it to every pub and footy mad home in the area for a nice profit.....(tongue firmly in cheek, before I get lynched);)

So how much you going to charge Excollier? :)
