Those posting the V6 Saabs and Alfa's in the thread will probably frown on this but I think for what they are they are a great motor. Simple no frills, cheap and efficient motoring for a family on a budget.

A years test on it, not sure why he mentioned that it was taxed to April 12'..that was months ago

V6 Alfa efficient?! Mine does 22mpg tops and parts can warrant a loan to pay for them :p

If it was cheap and efficient I wouldn't be driving a diesel 406....!

Cheers for giving me a quick chuckle though :pac:

Since when did anything with a V in front of it become efficient?:pac:

If you re-read the post im sure he's refering to the 323 being cheap and efficient and not an alfa.
Badly worded tho to be fair

Noooooo. That's the newer ones. Those old 9000s didn't actually need a service at all ..... ever ...... ever ever .

No sludge issues there. Killing it would be your biggest problem.

500 quid would be loads for it but its real bangernomics al the same. Tiny running costs, long test, budget price. Its all there.

I think my message was picked up incorrectly or else I probably put it across poorly more than likely. I mean't that the Alfa and and Saab V6 fans would view the 1.3 Mazda 323 as a grossly inadequate car perhaps... I shouldn't really be posting here if I didn't realise a Mazda 323 was not going to be more efficient than a v6 Alfa:D

Between injectors and injector pumps and all the other problems these throw up I'd avoid ..

    Yep, misinterpreted!

Which brings me back to my old post of "can't please everyone". I guarantee if we started putting up cheap and cheerful a - b motors, some posters might give out about that. Others just give out full stop....

Alas, fear not, more bargain basement material from yours truly shall appear ;)

    Starting with....
    NCT till June, 525

Diesel and in need of a clean
    Full-16677185.jpeg

Wonder will I get picked on for posting that....

Wow, two really nice finds there. We might finally upgrade from the K11 Micra this week. The missus is fussy but I could probably work on her to look at these.

Her main requirement is reliability but I'd like her to have a little luxury too. Coming from a K11 either of these would be a massive upgrade.

Any potential issues to look out for? Right now I'm leaning towards the Lexus as size wise it's right for her and I'm guessing reliability would be a little bettr than the Saab?
