Seen that to and it sems to be coming from sources from both clubs, talks are said to be ongoing well still be paying some of his wages.

Talk of a few players going on loan surely if Wenger is freeing up this much space and wages he must have replacements lined up.

Sick of this word. Its all we ever seem to sign. Additions instead of replacements would be great.

Squad size limit kind of works against that. That's another reason why shifting the dead wood is good.

Some people are never happy :p, were not talking about replacing Fabregas here were talking about players being shifted out who take up a large chunk of wages and provide nothing on the pitch and replacing them with hopefully better players ;).

Sorry for the double post but reports saying Djourou has confirmed hes joining Hannover on loan for the season saying hes joining the team that wanted him most.

    It's a pity they didn't want Squillachi.

    It's a pity they didn't want Squillachi.

another guy who's career hasn't gone to plan at arsenal, 2 league titles in france, as well as a cup and the copa del rey in Spain. But he's never been at the races for us, never been good enough really.

again when he leaves i'll wish him all the best, and hopefully next time we need a backup CB we'll put the faith in one of the u21's, Miquel or Angha like. Instead of signing a dud on x0,000 a week for 3 years.

Is there any real point to loaning out players? If Chamakh is going to West Ham on loan as is reported then surely thats not solving anything. We'll still be paying a big chunk of dead wage and at 28 he's hardly a player that is going for experience? Same with Djourou.

That's a lot less chunk of dead wage..

The problem is there not getting game time therefore not in the shop window along with the wages they get at Arsenal which no one wants to match and they dont want to loose makes them hard to shift.

By loaning them out we take some of the burden of there wage away from the club, we put them in the shop window hoping they will perform enough to attract buyers and all this along with freeing up places in the squad for other players to come in. Not as good as seeling them but the next best thing.

Don't West Ham already have two loans from English clubs? I thought that was all they could have?

Various tweets tonight quoting two 'ITK' Barca journalists as saying that David Villa will be staying in Spain in January as his wife is pregnant but that he would be interested in a move to Arsenal in the summer. Interesting...

So Wenger has gone from saying we are looking to strengthen in every position,to it all depends on whether theo signs.

Well bold isn't true at all. In 2011 we were right in the title race up until very late on when we collapsed (rather spectacularly), of course most will just look at that season and have the opinion the media have forced down their throats about it being just another 4th place no trophy season, when in reality we lost in a cup final, were competing in the league up until March/April, and were shafted by a referee when quite close to knocking Barca out of the CL.

We have a different version of 'competing properly' then. Mine doesn't involve a spectacular collapse and finishing on 68 points.

Not even gonna bother with the rest..if you can't see the obvious benefits of CL football at this stage then I think your mind is made up.

What do you mean 'not even going to bother'. Then just don't type anything.

Adn while 'I think your mind is made up' is an amazing way to end a discussion, if you bothered to read, you'd see I haven't made my mind up that I'm waiting for another two trasnfer windows to see what the club's intentions are.

Chamakh signs 6 month loan deal with West Ham. Owner's son delighted with the news:

    @jsullivanwhu
I am very sorry about this news
Chamakh has signed a 6 month loan deal
    Not my pick :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,433 ✭✭✭wandatowell

Arsene is going to say he is after world class players, us fans will get excited, Twitter will suffer a meltdown and The Arsenal will end up signing nobody. Its the classic Wenger ploy.

When asked why didn't he strengthen the team in January he'll simply say the players weren't available and if its proven that players were available he'll say that the big spending teams are warping the market place.

So relax the kacks we wont be signing anybody of note in the transfer window.

Though I would dearly love an exciting player to sign for us in Jan :(

Chamak on loan and gervinho gone to the ACON surely to god we have a striker lined up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 55,778 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

That's exactly how I feel about the situation.
Talking out of both sides of your mouth will only makes us sceptical Arsene. Yet again.
He will probably use the "We were waiting to resolve the Walcott situation before we could move to sign anybody and that situation dragged on too long leaving us with no time". I can visualize him saying exactly that.

No but at least we don't have any dead weight forwards in the squad now..

We surely need a body in or keep chamak were one injury and a suspension away from having no one to play up top

SkySports have confirmed that Chamakh is off the West Ham on a six month loan deal so he is gone. We badly need another up front.
