Van Der Sar may be right. Selling to foreign teams is bad enough but selling you best players to your rivals is just bad business.

Its a joke and the moment Van Mercenary went to Utd it practically won them the league!

Just looking back to Southamptons goal against us last week I really think Chesney should ought to have done better, his positioning is atrocious at times and I think it would benefit us to bring in another keeper, somebody like Krul or Skelenberg off Roma.

Here we are, nearly the first week into the transfer window and who have we got, despite all the big talk? Chelsea have got Ba and he has scored for them today, so they got off the mark and hit the ground running. Arsenal just drifts along at the minute and it appears to neutralize the talent that players have when they join. Van Persie has/will indeed win the league for Man Utd, all we can do at Arsenal is dream and hope. Rant over.

CB has to be brought in in January now. If we go into the rest of the season with only three CB's and Squillaci I'm fairly sure that could be classed as criminal negligence.

Demba Ba scoring 2 goals against southhampton..... this annoys me even though I do realise that once Chelsea came sniffing we had no chance whatsoever.

May well be an unpopular opinion but I really do think that this should be Wegners last season. Firstly the fact that there arent many teams that suffer from so many lazy performances. i feel that a lot of the time the team relies on it's skill and doesn't really give it their all of course apart from Wilshire. This to me even in my very amateur playing soccer is down to the manager to get the best out of the players. To me Wegner just doesnt seem to have that aura any more. Yes he has done wonders before but it is time for a fresh start.

Also I think that he is too stubborn in his ways. Example being basically him playing the same formation and style of play no matter what the opposition is or what players we have.

Having said that I hope before he goes he at least strenghtens the squad in Jan to keep the Champions League. Preferably a proper LB, bulky and strong DM as Arteta plays too many games for his age and what if he gets injured??? An older established GK to allow few years for Sczs to develop as he is not there yet ala Schwarzer (still don't know why he did not go for him) plus a Winger who can finish and cross.

We have a lot of ability but lack of desire really shuts us down therefore I think that is why a new manager is needed to freshen things up.

Bring back the long ball I say, at least it might improve our chances instead of still trying to walk the ball into the net. Wenger is stubborn to the last and his obduracy is part of the problem in not adapting to fit the opponents. Other teams know his formations now and know that he is a bit inflexible in tactics.

I'd have asked for a RVP back. Another great goal tonight. Jesus why did we sell him and why so cheaply to a rival team ???

Seeing RVP do stuff like that is just embarrassing for us.

Getting a bit fed up seeing the skunk score for them. We really should have hung on to him.

    Not meltdown at all.
Just highlights the stupid way our club is being run for the profits of the Board to be honest. They re-invested fcuk all of that money either and are unlikely to.

Toby alderweireld (whoever he is) is close to joining arsenal according to the Dutch press

he wanted to win trophies....he deserve to win trophies. just because he has more ambition than arsenal doesnt mean he's a bad person. Also man u hasnt been our rivals for years.

Really shows how far we have fallen.

He wanted out nothing arsenal could do even if we offered him 300k a week , it was either city or united wouldn't have mattered which one in all honesty he would have been banging them in for both!!!!

Sorry wasn't saying your going into meltdown just that it takes one post and then the thread goes mental for a few pages :)

Still think we had to sell after the "you guys" statement

I have to agree here. I hated him for leaving, but he's totally made the right decision for him. If we still had him i've no doubt we'd have won more games and it would be a different story. But from his point of view it was to leave a club in decline and move to perennial title contenders.

RvP leaving was the real chickens coming home to roost moment for Arsenal's policies over the last 7 seasons.

I still hate seeing him in the Utd jersey though and it makes me sick.

    surprise surprise.

He's quite well known in European circles. Belgian International, Ajax first choice CB, can also play RB.

    He'd be a cracking signing.

IF he turns out like him that would be just fine, but still leaves a massive gap at LB where we are very short.

Krul has been absolutely poison this season and I wouldn't touch him at all. Stekelenburg has been in and out of that Roma team since he joined them 2 years ago. If you're suggesting keepers, then they are two really bad suggestions imo.

I don't think Woj needs to be replaced, certainly he is rough around the edges but has the potential to be very very good. What he needs is tangible competition. Who that is/may be, I do not know.

A more physically imposing player than TV, but yeah there is a lot of similarities. You'd have 4 CBs then with 2 who would be capable enough in the full back berths. If you added Luke Shaw as competition for Gibbs then imo we'd have a very in depth and strong back 4.

All i know is he's class in Football Manager :D

I'd be happy if both him and shaw were signed.

RvP gone and many others but it's still brilliant being an Arsenal fan even through this relatively tough season.

I think your right he doesn't needed replaced and i think that if he was he'd leave

He's not the type of guy who'd want to be sitting around on the bench playing second fiddle to anyone - he's too confidant/sure of his own ability to do that. Just the impression i get from him + it's different to other positions as well regards rotation if your not first choice your basically no choice. thats the majority of the time at most clubs anyway

I totally get Wenger having to sell RVP, but why in gods name did it have to be to "them" and worse still, to "him"

Surely Wenger could have told RVP no domestic rival, abroad only?

Because RVP is the ONLY reason they are going to win the league and more this season and thats just wrong in my book :(

The price was reportedly 10 m lower for clubs on the continent but RvP only wanted to go there.

    mostly £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

no club abroad that were reported to be interested were going to pay close to that. Even man city, who probably would've paid the same & more in wages - RVP didn't want to go there, man u was his preference it seems
