Good point. It's impossible then for them to stop a new account holder

my steam account is associated with more IP addresses than I care to know. Ive had it 6 years and in several countries.

why the reason for selling though?

I'm very disillusioned with pc gaming of late. MP games are very important to me and I just can't do it anymore and I feel having such a powerful pc and not getting the best out of it, is a crime

What about getting alot of people together to lobby for better Broadband in your area . I'm sure people would be willing to support it .

Idk do companies really think much of petitions?

I wouldn't be able to tell you but if you have a couple of hundred to a thousand people wanting a better service then I would a company would have to take notice . I would send the petition to each broadband provider because they might help you out if everybody on the petition agreed to take their service . I know eircom do control the lines but I would imagine the other providers have to have a say .

Eircom are providing their new cabinets to any business park/company that are willing to spring for them, so maybe if you got a bunch of people together you'd be able to subsidise the setup.

Mind, these cabinets aren't cheap, they're something ridiculous like €50K a pop, and you probably wouldn't get a whole lot of free service for your money.

Can't see how selling your steam account solves this tbh...

...also maybe a priority check might help you, there's more to life, it's just meant to be fun. Learn to love the SP experience, read a book, get a new hobby, etc...

"Tech predictions for 2013" page on silicon republic says that eircom competitors are already meeting roadblocks trying to trial new vdsl network.

Comreg looking to set up two tier industry where rural customers have to subsidise urban...few other stories there, worse things are getting.

    On phone, cant link.

I'm assuming one cannot disconnect the tubing in the likes of a H100 to route it through case WC points right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,181 ✭✭✭Serephucus

It's not designed to be disconnected, but that's not to say you couldn't do it. AFAIK the only thing it's filled with is distilled water and a drop or two of copper sulphate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Bloodwing

I'd imagine that trying to refill it after you open it would be fairly tricky without putting some sort of fill port in.

TBH its just something I was toying with in my head, would never really be practical in my Outlaw. Cooler height is limited in her but I could get something bigger down the road if the sound starts to annoy me, right now its not a huge problem, GPU is louder under load.

Is this what you are talking about ?

If it is I will cancel my Broadband and go down the USB broadband if I have too . To me its virtually a case you pay more but get s*** service .

    Yup. More of it.

Dongle Broadband? Ain't nothing more infuriating than that.

Theirs stories their about "them" wondering why Rural Broadband schemes have had so little take up aswell, I assume that Rabbitte and co are joking.

Sisters on Three, that's actually faster than usual.

I would rather pay for a dongle then pay to have the cities and urban areas get a better service while paying more for my inferior service . Eircom should be told to p*** off . They had a chance to rollout broadband in this country and failed miserably they should let the rest of the companies have freedom of the market and let them lay down phone lines too .

First? Do you have an aftermarket router? Nice ones host DNLA.

Thats what you're looking for, DNLA support. A "dumb" nas will host the files, but not provide DNLA so most tvs wont see it(what TV do you have btw?). I've an old PC currently doing this job, but to cut the ESB bill the router will be taking over said duties in a few days.

Thanks for the reply ED. Ill have to get an aftermarket router than capable of DNLA. I currently using the eircom one which is far from good enough

Ya I dont want my pc doing the job because of the esb bill. Do you need a hard drive for your setup or what is the story there? My tv is the Panasonic VT50

Is it like that the router connects to the media server and then you can stream to anything, does that sound right?

You dont need a fancy router, its just an option to consider.

What I'll have is a 750GB USB2 external hooked up to the router, which runs a DNLA server. The TV then sees that, can browse the media and stream whatever you want.

We have a Samsung TV thats wired into the same router and me aul fella can watch whatever he wants there, or on the projector via a netbook(needs to be replaced by an android minipc at some point).

Assume you can wire CAT5 to the TV?

tbh iv been meaning to get a new router/modem and this is probably the perfect timing. Get a modem and then get a DNLA router and a get a hard drive and im sorted then, does that sound right?

Yes I can do CAT5 to the tv. The tv has built in Wireless anyway

    MS Paint to the rescue.

Modem will be from your ISP. With UPC thats the f'cking EPC3925, with eircom/other thats a DSL router/modem combo, switch that to bridge(act only as modem) and then use a 3rd party router(which you'll buy). I use a WNDR3800 but you can probably find something cheaper to do the same job.

Wire up the tv if you can, wireless can work, but its not great for video, and buffering/scanning will be faster wired(especially with gigabit).

    Bitfenix Prodigy Builders

I've just stumbled across this absolute gem:

    http://www.mfactors.com/products/PM2%252dC-%28Mini-PCI%252dE-to-PCI%252dE%7B47%7DUSB-adapter%29.html

One of those, plus a PCIe-x1 ribbon, and you've got yourself space for a sound card, without needing to spend all that money on a (probably not very overclockable) Shuttle board!

great job with the MS Paint, ED. Thanks alot for that, its very helpful.

I was actually looking at the WNDR3800 myself too and for my hard drive

Do you have a torrent client working on your hard drive, ED?

I'm surprised that two POS pumps can move that much water.
