www.zavvi.co.uk, make sure you get charges in Sterling as there's a slight saving to be made.

He has a weird sense of humour, an acquired taste if you will even. But once you watch a few of his videos you'll get what he's about. Here's one to get the ball rolling for you

Cheers, man. That's not bad stuff. Unfortunately though, it disolves into muck in the second half. The whole craic with having a sword fight with Rob the robot is just typical of this kind of reviewer. They all seem to do these little scenes, and they're usually crappy and cringeworthy.

Aaaaanyways, can anyone recommend me a good site for keeping track of my collection? Gamespot's been giving me a headache lately.

    Try Retrocollect and see

I watch all of Pat the NES punks videos. I actually really like him.....plus his Alisia Dragoon review is pretty good :P

I'm more looking for one where I can manage all my games, as opposed to just my oldies.

You could always set up and excel sheet. It's not glamorous but it will make a good job of it

Yeah, true enough. I don't even know why Gamspot is bugging me. It's not really doing anything wrong (except moving from Wishlist to My Collection can be hassle). I guess I'm just looking for a change, lol.

I use Backloggery myself, I find it much better than retrocollect.

Already a blinding start to the day. Shin Megami Tensei Soul Hackers has gotten officially announced for a US 3DS launch. Can't wait for this game. Also **** Sony for denying this game an English release not once but twice on PS1 and PSP.

    Official trailer:

Yeah there's no denying things can go seriously off topic. I think what Pat tries to do is incorporate a little story into each review, I guess its kinda expected of the popular guys to pad the videos out like that. I'd prefer things to stay focused on the game, but you can't win em all.

Here's one where Pats girlfriend sold his M82 unit, & he tracks down the buyer only to be kidnapped & forced to play actually decent games but the kidnapper wants him to be p1ssed off at them AVGN style. Quite clever actually :D

And then there's the Mr. Gimmick review, havn't watched this in a while but I think its fairly short of off topicness. Very good review though

The problem with AVGN and Pat for me as mentioned is not the review content which is usually great. AVGN in particular does some really good entertaining reviews and really doesn't need to go on his rants, although sometimes they are funny. The problem is when they get their aspirations of being film makers and put some really crappy sections in and mess about with after effects. That jesus mecha death christ or whatever it was in AVGN or whatever it was was particularly embarassing. Even Red Letter Media wasn't immune to this and had a pretty woeful extra section it added to the end of the Star Wars reviews.

I think they need a lesson in less is more and have some confidence that they can hold the viewers attention during a review without the amateur film making. They should take a lesson from the happy video game nerd.

16bit gems is a textbook example of how to properly add some comedic relief & witty retorts whilst keeping the content relevant. The Happy Video Game Nerd is also excellent at it, his stuff is always very on topic, fun & easy to watch.

Yeah sometimes his reviews can be like a buffalo taking a diahreah dump in his ear...

Is that the same chap as "Clan of the Grey Wolf" or something? Can't stand his style for some reason.

Regarding AVGN, his videos were great, informative and funny and the angry part was just an act which worked. I found his funniest video was the one about confusing film and game names and their sequels.

    Chronologically Confused:

Yeah I remember you mentioned that before alright :D Thats him anyway, Roo from Clan of The Grey Wolf / 16bit Gems. I've definitely found a couple of games I want/now have just by watching his videos, I think they're very informative & can be funny in that nerdiest of ways,

I think it's his wavy hands and "jokes" that put me off. :pac:

But it's good these folks are/were making videos about retro games I guess.
