Quick question, since it's obvious that SUSI are losing peoples documents that they have submitted are they technically breaking any data protection laws or similar ?

Submitted my bank details on 28th November. Still no payment. They've at least contacted my college about fees but no maintenance yet. Anyone else have this?

Once we had given SUSI our last document that they wanted they told me to put in my bank details which I did because they said so. However, I wasn't told if I was getting the grant and if so how much. Anyone else had the same thing happen?

    Hello

I received a letter from susi today saying I got the Full Maintenance and 100% Fee non Adjacent can you tell me how much does this mean I will be getting each month. Also I submitted my bank details already to them about 4 weeks ago as our student union told us to so I am wondering when I receive the money. I phoned them to ask them but they just told me it could be this friday (which I hope) and to be patient.

I can't get through to their helpline today, I have rang the number several times and the phone just goes dead. Is anybody else having problems?

We were assured from the recent committee meenting that 30,000 studnets would receive their grant payments by 21st December, would love to know if they will reach their target.

    3025 divided 9 per month

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Hi, I got through to them a few minutes ago, was waiting ten minutes on the line but got through eventually (not that it was any help).

Thanks for the reply but on the letter is says the amount is 5914.98 so what is that as I thought I would be getting the special rate grant and I just wondering if I need to appeal

Sorry, I didn't realise from your post that you were receiving the special rate. In that case thats what you get. 5900 divided 9 per month.

How much a month is the grant being cut in 2013?

Its not being cut but the income limits changed

I am so angry... Via Facebook... Aoife [If that is a real person or just an account name I don't know] After telling me I'm in line with the assessor has now come back asking for more information that they already have. My wife's accounts... which are already with them as we submit joint account details... and she has not worked since last October. And mortgage relief statement which they already have... So is the assessor stupid or have they lost documentation again? As I know that it was all in order before as I checked with a supervisor who went through my documents while I was on the phone back in August.

Exact same thing happening to me as well except of the 4 people I've dealt with the past week, 2 have told me that the assessors have viewed my documents but aren't satisfied so are requesting more documents but here's the catch, nobody seems to know yet what additional documents are required, wtf ? Frustration isn't the word. Every document they've asked for has been sent in weeks if not months ago but that's not good enough for this cluster **** of an organisation.

2 different people have said that the above is not the case, that my application is still under review but I've been told by these that there is very little communication between the help desk team and the assessors, anything that the do hear is put in its vaguest terms. However I've been told on FB that the additional document request came from the assessors themselves (as in the person on FB found out directly from them). I'm still waiting to find out that if this was found out why they wont tell me what additional documents are required.

Same thing happened to me. The people on the phone said that I didn't need to send any more documents but SUSI on facebook said that I did but they didn't know what at that time (SUSI Fb team and phone staff can only see info that's already been sent to us in a letter). It turned out that SUSI on facebook were right, they wanted a document that they didn't ask for the first time. They rang me last week on Tuesday at 11am to tell me what documents they wanted and we sent them by email. Apparently I have been awarded some form of grant but a letter hasn't been sent yet so I don't know what yet...I'm anxiously waiting for the postman!

I've had no response either by email or post. Not even a response to acknowledge that they've received all the documentation they required. Checked the application online and nothing yet.

Such a pain in the arse, since there are lads in my course who've received there's and applied later than I did.

The Budget will also see a 3% reduction in the income threshold for entitlement to student grants. This threshold rose every year from 1997 to 2009, in line with average industrial earnings. However, average incomes fell by 7.9% over the past few years but there has been no corresponding decrease in income thresholds for grant purposes since the economic downturn. Minister Quinn has, however, been able to maintain the existing rates of grant support for those qualifying in 2013.

Are you eligible for free tuition fees?

The best thing to do is contact the fees office and get them to clarify

I'm going to have to appeal SUSI's decision on my grant!!!! For God's sake,I'm really losing my patience with them. I wonder if you could sue them for emotional damages (in theory!).

Has anyone got an email from susi today about the payment tomorrow? Last month I got an email on the thursday before I get the grant.

In still waiting for approval! It'll be next year now ffs. I'll have my first year finished at this rate. I can't believe this isn't at least still being reported on, what an utter failure.

Called today to be told to send in more documents which I hadn't been asked for last week where they had explained to me that a letter would be sent to me regarding an approval or disapproval this week and no more documents required from me.

What's ths abt, its like they don't actually document what was said by the caller on the last call and all they do is apologise while we students can't easily say I can't pay my fees.
