Well it's what they know and grew up with. Most American kids who had a C64 instead are probably still getting over the trauma of having no friends at school.

Also the videogame crash of '83 affected videogame markets all over the world :P
Odd. Didn't gaming just get started in Japan and the EU when the crash happened?

Oh. And I grew up with the Mega Drive, back in the day. *flees for mentioning growing up with a 4th gen console*

I was joking when I said that. Some US games journalists seem to think it was a worldwide thing but never mention in Japan there was a big home computer market with Sharp and NEC machines not to mention the Famicom getting released while in Europe the home computer market was booming thanks to Sinclair machines and other cheap home computers.

    http://www.locomalito.com/maldita_castilla.php
The lament of a young witch has been turned into a key for demons. Guide Don Ramiro through the cursed lands of Tolomera and expel the evil that entered the Kingdom of Castile.

Maldita Castilla (Cursed/damn Castile) is an action arcade game full of myths from Spain and the rest of Europe. The graphic style is raw, made pixel by pixel with a limited color palette, like in the old days, and displayed through a dirty old monitor effect. Also, Gryzor87 composed the music emulating the Yamaha YM2203 sound chip, so that the game has real arcade sound.

It pays homage to classic arcade games from 1985-1987 like Ghost'n'Goblins, Tiger Road, Black Tiger, Shinobi, Rygar, Karnov, Trojan and many others… taking influences from medieval paintings and places, and inspired by the best chivalry book ever: The Amadis of Gaul.

Had to be 8bit Diva, she's the only other retro gamer girl in Ireland (apart from Sera course) :)
I used to think atavan was a girl, a drunken slutty girl but a girl none the less.

    False ( - 0-) =3
There are a good few girls in Ireland who play retro games, one did move to the Netherlands but comes home often (she's playing EB at the mo) and my sister really enjoys Pacman from time to time as well which is still something.
Maybe they don't post or make it public because some guys make a Troll 2 OMG about it

I know a few retro gaming ladies tbh, I have a cousin (in fact I've got 'bout a dozen...) and a mate who was deputy management in a Gamestop who are into the retro thang. I'm sure they're out there, avoiding being impregnated by Atavan and his 8 bit seed!

    150 seems fair methinks.

Every time I sold something or bought something it has always been sausage, unless its a girl clearing out a house or something

cereal. it was a real live girl. I was so impressed I told my girlfriend and all my work mates. I like to imagine her next purchase will be Radiant Silvergun.

Unfortunately this plays a big part in it. And it's not just gaming. I remember when I was really into airsoft and the boards community there, girls wouldn't post that much either - even though there were a lot involved in the sport.

When they did, they'd just get 'OMG A GIRL!' type embarrassing replies.

Or then there'd be these even more embarrassing 'drives' to get girls posting with girl only events, or stupidly named girl teams etc.

Alas, that seems to be the nature of a lot of dudes online. And in the end, it just keeps their forum a sausage fest.

Every time this subject arises, I'm continually reminded how how an 'Zomg a Gurl!' post backfired on Atavan

Just because Retr0 is dating Sera, and Retr0 is nominally a man, so that kinda suggests that Sera is therefore female.
That said, Retr0 has donned a gúna from time to time, so we aren't so sure, without meeting her, that Sera is a female.
But then we see that Sera too can dress as a male from time to time.....
So, we are left with the situation where Retr0 is dressed as a ladee, Sera as a bloke and Atavan falls off his chair trying to read this with one hand...... ;)

Had some crazy dreams last night I was exploring a lush forested maze last night and fighting monsters. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I was sick all day and spent it in bed playing Etrian Odyssey.

BTW if you have a DS and don't have etrian odyssey you are doing yourself a disservice.

How's your programming course coming along btw? I happened to spot that RPGMakerv4 yoke for sale on Steam and it reminded me of it for some reason. Is it all browser based the stuff you are doing?
