    How's your rehab work going?

Do you have an attachment for these, or just loop the band around a bar?

Tried doing them with a bar last week, but I couldn't get it set up right

Two green bands like you'd normally set one up for band pushdowns, about 4 feet apart, loop the bar thru like a reverse band bench, pushdowns. I'll take a pic of set up next time if you want.

I was actually going to ask if you had a legit before shot, to gauge the changes made.

I've a feeling i'll be doing my own 30day slog in January.

Thanks, managed to work it out last night - I'd just been using 1 band like a chump!

Can I ask why you do so much work with bands? I'm just suprised that a guy who can squat over 150kg still uses bands. Is it just because of injuries and imbalances (I do the same) or is their any strenght benefit to it?

You'll have to expand on that question. I can't remember the last time I used a band squatting (well, I can, but it was years ago). What type of band work are you asking about?

A poor question now that I've looked back over it, it seems I overly misjudged it. Basically I was wondering about your scap work, it seems I imagined your other exercises with bands

I mostly use the bands for warm up/activation/stretching work these days.

I use them for strength work from time to time, but honestly it'd be < 5% of my training.

    <<I got a...>>

    Warm Up
-did some physio stuff about 3 hours before training, that counts, right?

    GVT, Day 2

    A) Stiff Leg Deads:
    100kg 10x10 w/ 90s recovery

B1) Seated Fat Gripzz DB Curls:
    10kg DBs 10x8

    B2) Close Grip Floor Press:
    60kg 10x10 - 60s recovery between sets

Bit of a modified GVT template as I'm not training shoulders on it, and can't train anything requiring knee flexion at the mo. Good session, not too tough really but starting light to hopefully build. Plan being +5kg to the SLDLs each session and +2.5kg to the floor presses. Playing a long run 3 month game here.

Have ate a lot today so far. Don't feel so great. Bleurgh.

    Training's easy. Eating's hard.

Ah well I must have got it wrong then. I'm honestly confused now, because I don't know where I came up with it. Sorry about that :p

    A1) dips w/ BW 10x10
    A2) Pendlay Rows w/ 60kg 10x10 - 90s recovery

    B1) inverted ring row 3x10
    B2) DB bench w/ 20kg DBs 3x10 40X0 - 60s recovery

    Mneh. Patron - yea.

Mother of God we started GVT on the same day. Our menstrual cycles are probably synchronised as well.

Weirder, we did the second day on the same day too. Even weirder, we did the same exercises both days. Weirder again I'm living in a tree outside your house.

Doing a GVT squat day next? When? I feel scared of mine.

    What? Really? You're not serious?!

Probably won't get to squat until the new year. Will do another hammy exercise instead (GMs).

    You timing everything as well?

    <<Go Crazy...>>

    Warm Up
    -hoovering RF

    GVT, Day 4

    A) Sumo Stance Safety Bar Box Squats:
    60kg 10x10 w/ 90s recovery

    B1) Fat Bar Curls:
    20kg 10x10

    B2) Close Grip Bench:
    60kg 10x10 - 60s recovery between sets

Since my leg is screwed and I was feeling sorry for myself, I called Mickk this morning and went up to Irish Lifting to buy myself 2 early Xmas presents - a safety squat bar and a squat box. The good news is that my leg came thru it pretty well. The box was well above par but that'll do for now.

The curl/press superset was lovely and pumptastic.

Really happy with the new gear. Once again I would implore anyone who wants to get stuff from Irish Lifting to just pick up the phone and do it. So much simpler than sitting online waiting for an email and then b!tching that you didn't get one! :)

    What's the safety bar do?

I know it changes the position of the bar to somewhere slightly forward but I don't know why that's safer or more beneficial than a normal bar.

Yah I don't know why it's called a safety squat bar tbh.

Look at the position of the camber in the rack, when it's on your back, the handles point somewhat forward, as does the camber meaning the weight's slightly in front of you, and it sits slightly higher. So you're constantly pushing your chest up to avoid getting smashed forward. Seems to put a high bar close stance style emphasis on your legs in every stance position since you're forced upright.

BUT the big benefit of it for me is that it completely removes wrist/elbow/shoulder stress. The bar sits atop your traps without having to even touch it with your hands (tho there are handles in front).

Cheers, I thought there might be some lower body rehabby element to it. I suppose with low bar squatting a lot it makes a nice alternative.

    <<Happy Holidays...>>

    Warm up
-did my new physio stuff and scap work about 7.15am

    GVT Cycle 2, Day 1

    A1) Bench:
    80kg 10x10

    A2) Fat Grip Chinzz:
    bodyweight 10x7 - 90s recovery

    B1) Ring Push Ups:
    3x12

    B2) Chest Supported Rows:
    10kg DBs 3x12 - 60s recovery

Good enough session. Was getting a bit tough towards the end on the 10x10 but confident I've a good few weeks of progress before any potential gains tap out. My secret weapons (peptopro, creatine and beta alanine) should be here soon so I'll be stepping it up again then.

I'll keep adding 2.5kg to the bench and a rep to the chinzz until then.

Here's a progress pic from end of week 1 (still haven't checked weight, and seriously pumped)
