Lads I just got my letter there after waiting 10 weeks... I got 50% student contribution? Anyone know what that means?

It means they pay 50% of your student contribution fee and no maintenance.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I got approved the other day for 100% tuition and 100% student contribution (up to a maximum of €6270).
My college fees balance seems to have updated to reflect the 5k tuition fees, but there's nothing there saying that the student contribution has been paid.
Since paying the full student contribution would go over the €6270 limit, does that mean that they're not going to pay any of it at all?

Does anyone know anything in regards to progression in regards to the grant, is it as simple as doing a level 7 and later down the line doing a level 8, is that what they mean by progression? ? Even if the courses are not remotely related?

College fees have been paid, still nothing on the maintenance.
Should I be receiving a letter soon?

This means that you don't have to pay any of your fees. SUSI are paying for all your fees. You don't pay a penny.

Also the college will reimburse your 7000 euro. SUSI sould ring them and pay them 7000 euro on your behalf; if SUSI doesn't ring them, then bring in the letter that SUSI sent you.

    Congrats!

    That's not true I'm afraid.
100% Fees is subject to a maximum of €6270.
So if the Tuition Fees plus Student Contribution combined are greater than that amount you have to pick up the difference.

However if you're a going through the undergrad system then you qualify for the Free Fees Initiative and the State covers your Tuition fees for you.
If you're not going through for the first time, then you have to cover them.

I'd say only 30% of my lectures have been had an attendance check, so not sure how they are going to work that.

Call them up again and ask how many days they have recorded that you "missed", give them hell, something is seriously wrong there.

Agree. When I was talking to them on Facebook they told me they didn't have my P60. I got pissed with them and 5 mins later they found it and claimed it to be an error.

Was told today that I needed to send on my birthcert again. This will be the third time I sent it. I have sent it by registered post before, so I know that they have lost it. Funny enough, this week via facebook, they said my application was awaiting final review and I should get my award letter soon. Wonder why they suddenly need my birthcert again.

Thanks! What's the thing with the attendance then, would that cause the amount to go down?

Mobile phone bills are no good. Need to send landline bills or ESB bills.

What makes you say that? That hasn't been mentioned by SUSI. Is it from experience?

as it happens we don't have a landline, the only house utility bills are ESB and my phone, both in my name.

I just sent them a PM on facebook asking for an update, 11am Wednesday 05-12-2012. Let's see how long it takes. I also said in the message to not ring and leave a voicemail, their phone number is connected to a phone which is at the bottom of the Marianna trench, because they don't f*cling answer it!

I got a letter in October saying I'd been approved for the grant and to send documentation which i did straight away, now yesterday i got a letter saying i couldn't get it because i'm doing a level 8 and they say i already did a level 8 last year. not true, i did a HND last year which is only a level 7! I'm ragin over it! they told me i have to appeal and that a decision is final!

I think they're just buying time hoping that i won't go through the hassle of appealing!

Today I got a phone call from SUSI, asking me if I had entered my bank details online yet, I said no, as I haven't got any letter yet. She said that there was a delay with the letters and to enter my details online. However when I went to enter them, it said it neeeds a reference number that comes on the letter, which I haven't received yet. Does anyone know if it is the same reference number as the student reference number or application reference number? Or is it completely different? The letter more than likely wont come for a couple of days now and I would like to enter my details as ASAP.

Why are they looking for so much information? The inland revenue don't even require this much information.

I'm a third year student. Sent off for renewal of grant application like normal.
Apparently not good enough for SUSI. "We require a full set of accounts". A full set of accounts? Fine. Done that. There you go.

Got another letter. "This isn't the full set of accounts". Accountant says it is. Have to pay him €100 to create the most detailed full set of accounts he's ever done. He's telling me the actual inland revenue don't require as much detail.

Sent this to them about 2 weeks ago. Absolutely everything they need now right?

Nope. Ring them up today to double check that there is some progress on my application. They need MORE information.

    Details of details of details.

This is absolutely out of hand at this point. People are dropping out of college because of this carry on. How can we give them any more information??? We have given them absolutely everything we can. Our accountant has told us that there is no more information that can possibly be given. Who are we even dealing with anymore? Is this just a joke?
Hi The accountant probably supplied you with the form 11 which he sends to revenue. The grants office wont accept this on its own as it does not show everything. You need the profit & loss account and the capital account.

yes it is your SUSI application (Reference) number that you enter. Be careful entering your bank details apparently mistakes can't be rectified, check and double check that they are right.

A mobile phone bill isn't a utility bill.
Also how could a mobile bill be proof of independent residence?

Anyone can be living with their parents and be getting a mobile bill to that address. The ESB bill proves independent residence as it's an actual utility.

Still waiting. I sent them utility bills for 14 months (all meteor phone bills) which i attached a note to saying i wished to use it to cover the financial independence and also proof of my address. About 6 weeks later i got a letter back saying that I forgot to include all the necessary documents (ie that i needed to send other utility bills). Disappointed but glad I got some feedback! :P

What are you trying to provide documentary evidence for?

Is anoyone else having problems with attendance records being sent to SUSI? My grant has still not been paid because SUSI got my college and course code wrong and I was on the wrong college attendance list. I've tried asking them where or how they are supposed to be sent to them so my college can forward mine on but they have not given me a straight answer, they are always saying they will get back to me when they know. I am getting fed up ringing them every day for such a small matter!

Try sending them a message on their facebook page. I have messaged them twice with enquiries and got responses within 24 hours. The phone line a waste of time. Anytime I rang couldnt get a straight answer.

Are susi meant to email to say when the money is going in? I entered my bank
Details on Monday And never got any response. Just wondering how long now I will be waiting for them to get the money into my account.

Just got a reply from SUSI:( Additional documentation required...again! Do they push your application back to the start when this happens?

Rang them today to find out about what stage my application is at, to be told it's only gone to the assessment stage. Asked as well if theres any chance I will be rewarded before christmas and was told that they hoped but I got the impression that was very unlikely

They don't send you a confirmation email after your bank details are entered, they will now check for your attendance with your college/uni and make sure you are registered as a student. After that they should send you an email stating how much and also what date you will be paid.

The payment dates are every Friday before the xmas, and normal dates will follow in the new year.

So if I were you, ask in your college/uni about the attendance file, has it been sent back to SUSI !?
